For Garan, it was perhaps the busiest of all lives. True, he had it good compared to other "Magical Creatures", if you could call him one. Technically, since he could use his mind as a sort of magical... thing, for lack of better words, he was considered "Magical". Which, according to the most recent leader, was, and I quote, a "Bunch of useless, troublesome, horrid creatures that have no reason to live. Exterminate them all.". Charming little fellow.
Which was why Garan lived two lives. On one side, he helped get those who were going to be executed by that genocidal P**** that currently sat on the throne. That was harder than it sounded, and he could enjoy that at times. Other times, he almost would get caught. That wasn't too enjoyable. He robbed those who believed in Genocide, and busted innocents out of jail. He wore red armor, said to be made from the scales of Dragons, fused together to form full armor. He was known as the Red Knight, and feared all around the kingdom. Currently being hunted down.
On the other, he was a humble, useful, funny, and charming servant to Arthur, the next in line for the throne. Many people liked him, no one feared him, and everyone basically enjoyed being around him. Today was his day off, and instead of serving food and all that charming crap, he was out and about in the streets. That's when he noticed something rather... interesting.
And so, it was on that day, that this particular girl, he knew her name not, was spotted. Not just by him, but apparently by the guards. Now, that wouldn't be too good for her, for she was a Magical Creature. And he could tell by her hair, and he knew that the guards knew that, too. And that, my friends, is where this story begins.

This girl was a druid, hiding a silver egg in a bag hanging at her side. The druid looked around to make sure no one was looking before placing the bag beneath a hay cart. The druid girl hesitated before pulling her hood more over her face and walking away.
The bag was there, abandoned and unprotected. It got no one's attentionbut seemed unusual. The dragon egg inside was a soft silver that was glowing slightly.

Garan watched as the guards were about to descend upon her. He knew that to let something as amazing as what was in the bag die would be far worse than any sin committed by his hands. As such, he didn't think when he tried to distract the guards. He never really did think, though. Thinking hurt your head.
He accidentally knocked down a fruit stand, spilling food and coins everywhere. Undoubtedly people would mob the stand to try and get free food, and so the guards would go there. He hoped that he didn't have to save another magical creature, as he was getting tired of that.

The druid girl ran over to Garan." The bag.....save the one within it." The druid whispered to him before disappearing into the crowd. She was completely gone, using her magic to run. She had left the bag behind for the creature within it was meant for him.
Garan didn't have a chance to respond. He didn't know what to say, anyways. All he could do was take the bag, and hold it carefully. He brought it home with him, setting it on the bed, and looking at it. He had no idea what to do with it.
"Alright buddy, lets see what you are," Garan unwrapped the bag, and what he saw shocked him. A Dragon Egg. A real, living, Dragon Egg. He didn't know anything, but had a feeling that the egg was meant for him. "Well, little buddy. Looks like I'm keeping you, so I'd better find a name for you. How about, Rote Ritter? Eh?"

The egg didn't move at all nor did it grow warmer. The tiny dragon inside stayed asleep, not responding to him.
"What do I have to do to make you respond?" Garan sat there, staring at it. He later would realize that he spent the better part of the day just staring at the egg.
After about 3 hours, the egg moved and the top of the shell cracked slightly. The small dragon inside was starting to wake up.
Garan watched in fascination at what he saw. Never before had a human sat, in these conditions, to watch a dragon hatch. And to think that he, the Red Knight, a man who by day lived next to a murderous psychopath who ruled the kingdom, and by night spread fear into genocidal men, would soon own a dragon. If he ever saw that girl again, he would thank her.
The shell cracked more before the top of the egg blew apart. The dragon was so small that you couldn't see it at first until it fell out of the shell. The tiny dragon wobbled for a moment as it stood and looked around, blinking it huge blue eyes.
"Now, that is the cutest thing I've ever seen." And Garan would probably be right. It was cute. He couldn't help but smile at this thing. It was cute, it was rare, it was magical. But more importantly, it was his. Rote Ritter, Red Knight in German, was all his, and he could train him. But first, food. What would a creature like that eat? Meat. And how much meat did he have?
He ran to the pantry, and grabbed a salted pork. It would do well. He didn't know if it needed to be cooked or not, so he gave a little piece to the dragon.

The small dragon let out a girl-sound yawn before rolling onto it's back. This dragon was in fact a girl but not many people could tell the difference. The tiny dragon squirmed on her back as if having an itchy back.
"Now, how in the world do I care for a dragon?" Garan had no idea, but he liked the way that dragon was. It looked funny to him, and he sat down on his bed again, rubbing his forehead. This thing would cause him so much trouble. Somehow, he'd have to hide the thing when it got bigger, but now, it could fit into his coat.
The dragon got back onto her feet before walking over to him. She stood up, her front paws on his leg. She hiccuped, silver flames making a small fireball.
"Ow...." Garan rubbed his leg, and petted the dragon. It seemed nice enough. Not too violent to him, nor showing any signs of anger. It confused him a bit. That and why he had gotten a dragon in the first place. Now, he didn't mind a dragon, but hey, it would be a challenge. "So, what do you want to do, little friend?"
The dragon looked at him before jumping onto his leg and standing on her hind paws. She growled and showed her teeth playfully, showing her tiny shard teeth.
Garan raised an eyebrow. He knew that he could do nothing to play with the Dragon. Well, nothing that was physical. He didn't want to loose a finger. In a way. That was sad. Still, he liked the dragon. "Huh... I can't do anything..."
The dragon frowned before jumping off his leg and landing on the floor. Looking up at him, she stuck her tongue out at him and scampered away.
"Oh damn... Come back!" Garan got up from where he sat and began to chase the dragon. It wouldn't be too good if it got out of his sight, because then it could be killed. After being stared at, that is.
The dragon slipped under the table, stopping to stick her tongue out to tease him. She was happy he was playing.
