It's always awesome when someone else says they like something about you! I know it makes me feel warm, fuzzy and validated, and it's one of the nicest things about kudos. (Plus all the second-hand fuzzies from reading kudos people write to others! Moderating kudos has got to be my absolute favorite part about being a moderator, hands down!)
Something that most of us probably don't do enough of though is extending that same kindness towards ourselves. It's a lot easier to feel poorly about and criticize yourself, especially if you're dealing with an illness or disorder that affects your daily functioning and how you interact with others. It's also very important to recognize the things you actually like about yourself. It creates confidence, self-awareness and promotes positive personal development in many, many ways.
So, my question to you is....
What is one thing about you that you really like about yourself?
In case it's hard to think of anything, here are some examples of what it could look like:
- I really like that I can play the piano
- I really like that I'm good at playing first-person shooters
- I really like that I've learned to cope better with rejection
- I really like that I've put a lot of effort into improving my writing
- I really like that I'm creative and have such a wide variety of RP characters
It's okay if it sounds a little selfish or like you're tooting your own horn! If you struggle with that, try to imagine that you're saying it about someone else, like a friend - if it's something nice you'd say about someone you care for, it's no more selfish to say that nice thing about yourself.
(Keep in mind that this isn't really about what you're good at - it's about what you like about yourself, you don't have to be good at something in order to like that part about you!)

One thing? Hmm.... I like the fact I have the know-how to fix things. It was something I picked up from my dad who lived through the Great Depression. I never paid very good attention when he wanted to show me things and share his knowledge, but some of his depth of knowledge managed to ingrain itself in me. I love him and miss him everyday and wished I’d have paid more attention back in the day.
My wife in all her lovliness would just rather toss out something that quits working and get a new one, but I will take a look and see if I can resurrect whatever it is and extend it’s life. It saves $, and maybe a little bit of the environment by not tossing something in the landfill.

That is really cool! I'm glad that you still have that part of your dad to carry on with, even if it's not as much as you'd hoped. I think with the internet at your fingertips, it also easier to get access to this kind of info when needed, so I imagine there are things you'll learn or have learned that would have impressed him thoroughly.
This is a great post 😁 please, I understand most of are you are very introverted and self critical, but I assure you, treat these like affirmations. And remember, being selfish is good, because you are no one but yourself and you deserve to work on who you are as an individual as opposed to working with what others think of you. Remember that whatever someone thinks of you is out of your control and worrying about whatever you can’t even work on is silly.

To start with...I really like the poster before me
I like my honest straight forward attitude, even if it is to a fault....
I also like that I try to do the right thing no matter who is looking, be it everyone or no one.
Oh and you wouldnt believe some of the places I can back a 53 ft semi trailer into sometimes it boggles even my mind how I've actually accomplished some of the deliveries my current job requires of me.
Lastly....I'd kind of like to know what Sanne likes about herself 🤔 as the OP and all

I really am happy that this was created! It has got me thinking quite a bit. I am not used to thinking of myself in a positive way, but I was able to come up with a few things.. Which is good?
- I like that I am short. I am 5'1. I can do things that tall people can't. Like, I do not have to worry about fitting in the backseat of a sports car, I will never be hitting my head on things above me, I am a freaking pro at crowd weaving, I am the perfect candidate for crowd surfing, I will never have to worry about the monster in my room grabbing my foot because it will always stay hidden safely under my blanket whether I am stretched out or not, and lastly, people underestimate my abilities and it is fun to see their faces when I prove them wrong.
-I love that I am always there for my friends, through thick and thin. Whenever they need me, I do my best to help out. This creates strong bonds with people which is a phenomenal thing to have.
-I love that I accept everyone. I do not care a bit about the color of peoples skin, their sexuality, or their gender. I judge a person by their personality.
-People always tell me I have nice lips. I honestly will agree with that! They are kinda plump and just have a nice shape to them.
This feels so.. foreign.. giving myself compliments..
-I love that I am working hard on learning Ukulele. It gets frustrating sometimes when I cannot learn some parts to a song, but I just keep going at it, and eventually get it. (Not saying I don't rage quit, because trust me, I do. A lot.. but I get right back to it the next day.)
-I love how passionate I am towards animals. Animals are everything to me and I am always bringing little critters home. My Grandma doesn't mind because she too is an animal lover, but my Grandpa.. whole other story. I have 12 horses that I water and give treats to every day. Whenever I am sad, I can just walk to the side of my house and there they are... and it is snuggle time!
And.. Done! That wasn't.. too hard.. I encourage everyone to try this!

I like the fact that I have the ability to stay calm under pressure. I like that I usually know what people mean when they talk about inner states I like that l am good with computers. I like that I have a moral compass, even when I don't follow it. I like that I feel awe about amazing things and parts of nature.
Good thread, Sanne.
Good thread, Sanne.
This is a really really nice thread ٩(*´◒`*)۶ so...whats the word,.wholesome? It is definitely a good way to combat the negativity we face in life, for sure.
Well, here goes...
-I like that I am good at getting into character in real life. I remember having to act out a scene with a friend once and it gratified me to hear that I did my part quite well
-I like how neat my handwriting can be if I concentrate enough. My handwriting usually looks completely illegible, even to myself, so it really boosts my self esteem to know that I can write neatly...sometimes.
-I like how casual and indifferent I can be about sensitive topics sometimes, even though it doesn't do much good for my social life, and it can be a pain to learn the appropriate response for certain matters. I feel like it lets me be more rational, especially when everyone around me starts raging about it.
-While I am generally a person that overthinks too much and is anxious about anything and everything, I like how whenever I am put into a position with responsibility, or when I have to lead others, I can slip into the role very easily and deal with things that I usually wouldn't even dare to do.
Gotta say it again, this is really nice.

Alrighty- here I go.
I honestly I love how I only attract a few friends. Like, close ones. Anyone else are just allies. I tend to instinctively surround myself with very accepting people, who are mostly lgbtq+.
I’ve kept one friend through thick and thin all my life. From the day we met in elementary school we’ve been together as best friends since.
Jeez, this got me thinking.
I’m a rather alright artist, and I can write a killer story. I’ve already wrote a few creepy pastas and submitted them to the official creepypasta website. Though, my best is still pending acceptance.
I love everything creepy and bloody. I’m a good Halloween freak and make some of the most blood curdling costumes. (Provided I have the supplies)
I’m a dog person. I have never been bit before. Funny story; I had just got my hair cut really short, and I was visiting a friend. They had a huge bull dog mix that I was close with. Well, he didn’t recognize me. I went to pet him and he started growling. I held my ground, stared him in the eyes and growled back. Chances are, with any dog, if you stand your ground and challenge them, make yourself look bigger and stronger than them, it will back off. I grew up with seven dogs and plenty of strays wandering about. After that, he backed down and sniffed me. And then he realized he was threaten his friend.

I'm pretty hot I guess. 🔥😏
😂
Uhm. I like that even though I have trouble speaking up for myself, even if just ordering food, if there's someone else with me that also has anxiety and a hard time, I have no trouble stepping up and speaking up or ordering or whatever it is. Literally become a Knight in Shining Armor when with someone else anxious.

This is a neat thread!
1.) I'm willing to listen to people's issues, basically what's bothering them. Whether it's something school/college/work related or something more personal. And I don't mind if they tell me often what's up.
2.) When it comes to animals or children I try to be gentle with them.
3.) When I see a code for a game or a post that a game is free, I let people know just in case.

I'm a self taught musician and songwriter. I'm going professional after the first of the year. My parents bought my first bass and amplifier out of a pawnshop for a Christmas present for me. Ever since I got those RPRepository pens I'm writing 3 songs a day. I've really been inspired lately. This is a awesome thread sanne.
Wholesome!
I like that I'm very independent and self-sufficient. It's saved my hide a few times.

That’s definitely a virtue forgotten these days 👌 be proud of that 😊
Oh my goodness I absolutely adore all of these posts! It's so nice to see. I'm especially proud of those who found it weird or awkward but did it anyway, you rock! If there's anything else you think of, please do share more. It's all welcome and I encourage it!
I like that I've grown a lot as a person. There are lots of things I regret doing in my past, but many of these things can be attributed to an undiagnosed disorder. Pursuing this diagnosis and preemptively starting on figuring out ways to manage the symptoms was hard, but I'm very proud of myself for doing it!

I guess I like the fact that somehow I've made it through everything with at least a little bit of hope. Things have been crap before, crap now, and I have no doubt that life will keep wanting to slap me constantly. I've always managed to get back up even when sometimes I don't want to. And no matter how stressed I get, I always get things done.
I dunno. I tried
- I love the fact that people in college feel free to come to me with the hard stuff; that they believe me to be a safe space.
- I love the fact that I get so invested in learning something that it takes up all of my time.
- That I’m alive. I love the fact that I decided to hold out to see how life gets better.
- I love the fact that my imagination is my safe space. That I could have turned to anything else, something that could harm me, but this is what said “Come to me. I’m safe and warm.”
- And I guess my ability to write? Everyone on here is amazing, and I’m just little old me. But I do love that stories are my passion.

Ooooo!!! I love this thread! Thank you, Sanne for getting this started to have people focus on the good things during a stressful time of year. I’ve enjoyed reading all the nice things people have said about themselves!
I was going to comment on this earlier, but abandoned it because I have a hard time saying nice things about myself and it felt like I was bragging or being boastfully obnoxious. I figured why not challenge myself? So here we go...I know you only said one but here are three.
- I really like that my generosity makes people happy. Whenever I hold giveaways or randomly give gifts, the excitement from people always makes me smile so big - a person being thankful that they won bacon so they don't have to delete a char because they couldn't afford more slots is just amazing to me.
- I'm very loyal to all my friends/loved ones who treat me with respect. Seriously, I will go through great lengths for those people. It might take a while to get to that point, but once I'm on that level, you've got a Somnom stuck to you.
- I'm a goddess in the kitchen. Seriously, I can make things that aren't supposed to happen or logically work somehow come together in a way that looks effortless. People have seen me cook/bake and are just like - what!?!?!?
