It has been many years since all the wars ended, but America is still the super power and has more technology than they need. They took this power to their heads and now are trying to brainwash all the younger generations, but they can't do it with any child under the age of twelve. This gave a window for the children that were smart to band together and try to break down the system. But, with a cost. They all had to fake their own deaths and couldn't tell anyone outside the Rise about them being alive.
Zoe was looking over the blue prints for the white house, trying to figure where they could have put the brainwashing machines but nothing worked. "This is hopeless!" She yelled, clearly annoyed with this. She had gotten to power where she was able to look at all the blue prints and figure out everything, she planned stuff and was a very important part of the brains of the Rise. She sighed, running a hand through her hair. She cut it shorter to find from her family and wore a black baggy jacket, making everyone believe she was a guy, always going by Z. She never trusted anyone in this operation and didn't care to. "Of course they would put it somewhere else to hide it."

Aaron had simply been staring off into nothing the entire time. He sat in a chair directly across from the small desk she was using to hold an overflowing amount of blueprints. "Oh no, how could you have missed it?" He mumbled, rather sarcastically, which only earned him a glare that sent shivers down his spine. "Oh come on Z, I've been watching you yell at those blueprints for hours, they're not going to change any time soon." It wasn't exactly as satisfying as one might think to watch Zoe get angry at inanimate objects. Watching her mad was just as bad as getting yelled at directly. It scared even him, which took quite a lot.
That didn't mean that it happened often though. To him, she seemed to keep her cool rather often. Then again, he didn't exactly see her very often, so he couldn't speculate. Being head of the weapons division and leading missions, it wasn't exactly his job to hover over her. But he did have to consult with her more often then not, much to his distaste. She was technically his boss after all, though he would never care to admit it. "Why don't you take a break before you get to the point of throwing things." He finally ended up suggesting.

Zoe glared at him for the smart comment. "I like to see you try to figure out where that bastard is hiding the machines." She stood up, sighing. She was really annoyed with all this, pacing back and forth. "I need to figure this out so we can move faster towards destroying all of this crazy madness, I rather die then have my free will taken away." She usually did keep her cool, always calm and laid back when someone really talked to her, but as for her job, she took it seriously and always tried to figure things out the best she could.
She was a rather scary person when she did lose her temper, but more so when it was another person instead of these stupid blue prints. "I can't, not yet. I have to figure this out. They have to have it somewhere, hidden in a place that was in plan sight yet no one knew what they were." She sighed, running her hand thought her short red hair again. She stuffed her hands in her black sweat shirt. "I swear this is going to drive me crazy." She didn't care much for Aaron, she didn't care about who he was or what he did, just as long as he was on the Rise's side and was doing his job right and didn't fail. If he thought she was scary now, he should try failing a mission and then he will know fear. She looked weak but she could easily knock down any of the men and women here.

"Alright fine, but you should still just stop for a minute and take a breath." He stood and leaned over the desk to look at the scattered papers for himself. "So, what do we know. They would keep them somewhere private, so no one would stumble upon it accidentally." Pulling out three of the blueprints, he threw them to the side. "It wouldn't be easily accessible on the second floor," he took four more and threw them to the side,"So that leaves us with the right wings on the bottom floor."
He didn't mean to show her up, it was just natural for him to need to prove people wrong. Zoe issued him a challenge and he took it. "The rest is up to you, I can have a team ready by morning if you need it." He sat back down in the chair, feeling pretty proud of himself, but trying to stuff the feeling down. It was only a matter of time before she found something that would completely disprove everything he just potentially worked out. He took out a knife, twirling it between his fingers as he waited for her to find anything more. He didn't know much about Zoe, but he couldn't deny he was curious about why she kept such a hard exterior towards everyone. Being himself though, it only made him want to tease her. She kept up such a facade that he couldn't help himself to try and see how far he take her. It was thin ice he was treading on; he knew what she was capable of, he's seen it for himself. But that certainly didn't help to stop him.

Zoe shook her head. "No, no. I already looked over the whole White house, right wing. It has to be one of the tourist attractions." She thought out loud, thinking. Her eyes looked like they were scanning something as she stopped pacing, her hand at her chin. She was looking over a map of the U.S.A. in her head. She narrowed it down to three main ones. "Alright. There are three main ones, The White House, The Gran Canyon, and New York City. The White House is out and New York is too populated for it. It has to be The Grand Canyon, most likely inside the canyon." She thought, then went over to her desk where Aaron was seated at. She looked through the maps then slammed her hand against the desk. "Damnit! Of course we don't have a map of The Grand Canyon." She clenched her fists then slowly released her fists as she sighed.
She looked at Aaron. "Alright, we need a team of about twenty people out there, me and you included. I want to go out there and try to find it too. We'll have to be careful, they will probably have those brainwashed idiots around there if need be, if the machines are there." She said, straighten her back. A bell went off, which meant it was time for dinner. "Alright. Tomorrow morning I will need to see everyone in your division and we will pick out twenty people out of the line up to choose to come with us tomorrow." She said, looking over at Aaron. The next couple days she will have to spend with him and whoever they would bring would be the most she had spent with him. She would also have to be careful at keeping her gender hidden, she knew a lot of people thought that women were weaker than men and she didn't want to lose her position because of her gender.

Aaron only nodded, knowing it wasn't his place to doubt her decisions. "Fine, but I wouldn't rule the other locations. Thinking as if you were one of them, one might think its wise to put some in each location. New York is an especially good state, many people equals a good amount of hospitals. It's a perfect place because babies can be taken from their mothers without the mother even realizing what they're doing." He looked over to her as she stopped her pacing,"If it's all the same to you, I would like to send scout teams out to New York, just to make sure." He watched her reactions as she walked back over to the table. She seemed pretty indifferent, at least in his mind.
He nodded again when she spoke of the team he was going to have to assemble. It wouldn't be hard, more then half of his boys were itching to go on another mission. One hadn't been issued in a long while, causing them to get antsy. He was rather surprised when she said she wanted to come along,"Look all sexism aside, I don't think that's a very good idea. No other women will be coming, you'll be on your own you know." She seemed adamant about it though, which shut Aaron right up. "Fine, but if anyone finds out I brought a women along, I'm blaming you. I don't want any unnecessary casualties on your account." He stood when he heard the bell and left her to her own thoughts. Instead of heading to their mess hall, he headed straight for his own room. He may not have full say in who would be coming, but he certainly had people to suggest to her. His team only consisted of thirty of the Rises top men, twenty they would take, the other ten he would split into two teams of five to scope out New York. He ended up missing dinner, but it made no difference as he ended up preparing through most of the night. Tomorrow was a bit of a short deadline, but he would have to make it happen.
The next morning, he found himself standing with Zoe in front of the men who were standing tall and proud in a straight line. "As you may have heard," he began, absentmindedly toying with one of the machine guns,"we have our first mission in a long time. This mission is of the upmost importance, meaning no fooling around. It should no longer have to be said but any deserter or any traitor will be shot on sight, it doesn't matter if they're your best friend or your boyfriend, it will not be tolerated. Now, I have selected the twenty of you that I find to be the most qualified. The rest, you will be traveling to New York and will be debriefed when you arrive. Before I read off who I believe are the best, I would like to introduce you to Z, who will be accompanying us this time around. He also has a say in who will be going and I will let him be the judge on who truly gets to go." He turned to Zoe,"The floor is all yours."

((I just want to say one thing, no one is suppose to know of Z's real gender, that was to be secret from everyone. Just letting you know because she never said a word about it to Aaron. Also, I told PanadaGirl that she could join us.))
Z listened and nodded. "That is fine by me. I just have a strong feeling about The Grand Canyon." She stated flatly. She really didn't care much about what happened in New York as long as the Rise's cover wasn't blown.
She shot a glare at him for that comment. "First off, how do you know I am a female? As far as everyone else knows in this army, I am a male like any other guy. Second, I don't care if there won't be any other females, I can hold my own and this men are loyal to me too. If they were to find out about my gender, they wouldn't care anymore than you do, I am just like any other man here." She said, clearly annoyed with what he said but was victorious when he gave in a let her come. "Also, no matter what you say to have me not come, I would still find a way to come. I know you are not stupid enough to use the leader's sexist ways to down grade me and put this whole place into danger." She said with a grin, then watched as he left.
She went to her dorm in the male dorm room, she didn't even bother going to the mess hall, she was never hungry anymore, it was clear in how skinny she was but she was still very strong. She looked over the soldiers they had, trying to figure out who would be the best choices.
Once morning came, Zoe was already to take a look at the soldiers. She really didn't listen to what Aaron said, just looked over the men they had with cold eyes. She seemed uncaring and cold with how she measured them all, seeing who would be best. She looked up at Aaron and nodded. "Alright, men. The mission we have is very important as Aaron had said." She kept her voice calm and neutral like always, but there was an under tone of authority. "I already looked over all your background history, how you faked your death, and ranks. There isn't a thing I don't know about each one of you, that is my job. So, let's being this." She then quickly picked out those who she thought was best for this mission. She choose those who made choices that spoke they took their jobs seriously and did what they believed was right.

If looks could kill, Aaron would be bleeding out on the floor. "Actually I didnt, i took a shot in the dark and it turns out i was right. I used to lie as a profession sweetheart, I also was very skilled in human behavior. You don't hold yourself the same way a man would. You walk with a different sort of...swagger per say, your face is more defined then most males, your speech is more proper, and when you stand you lean slightly to your right. So either you were a highly feminine looking male, or you're female. It looks like the latter won out." He smiled up at her,"And it's not wether they would care or not, it's that it's proven that males instinctively want to protect females. It's something built into our genes as a species and that could cause an unnecessary death." He left that place not angry per say, but frustrated. He could have easily managed without her, yet she acted like she was essential. He simply scoffed at that, knowing this was going to be a rather long mission.
Now he found himself standing next to the same person that frustrated him earlier, trying to keep himself from "accidentally" shooting her in the leg. When she chose those for the mission, he had no arguments. All except one he wouldn't have chosen for himself. Well, at least they had the same mindset about that. When she finished he stepped in to take control once more. "Get geared up, we leave at noon." He shouted to all of them and soon the room filled with the buzzing of movement and talking. Sitting back down, he looked over at Zoe,"Have you ever actually led a mission before?" He was certainly skeptical of her abilities. Not her fighting or her leadership skills, but with coping with the responsibilities. He had never worked with her before, it was only natural that he wasn't truly sure what to expect.
(( Oh....I kind of figured that, but I wasn't sure so, like I said, I took a shot in the dark. Guess I was wrong....I apologize if that's not what you wanted. But I hope it's okay...and yea, she can join.))

Zoe couldn't believe he was able to see through her act. She was trying to hide it all but that wasn't easy as it would seem to be. She wasn't going to act stupid for just this and her walk she didn't even notice. "I see. Well, I rather you keep your mouth shut. I worked too damn hard to get this far and I don't want something I couldn't control knock me down. The leader here has never seen women as anything but the one's who carried children, and I heard him say that." She folded her arms across her chest. She didn't see herself as anything important, but she wasn't going to lose it because he gender. She was doing this for her father, he died in a war because of this and she was going to try to fix this crazy world anyway she could.
She didn't like being here anymore than he did, but she would have to deal with him in a mature matter, not letting her feelings getting into this mission. She needed to destroy those machines and finally go back home to help her mother, to fix what she did wrong. She nodded to his question. "I have been here for three years and have been on five missions. I know what I am doing." She shrugged, not trying to act prideful or superior because she never saw herself that way.

He looked a bit impressed at her confidence, he liked that in a person. Someone confident is someone he could attempt to trust. "Good, then I expect none but the best from you." He stood with nothing more and went to check everything from the weapons to the tents they would be living in for the next couple of days. He made sure everything was in good condition, for he couldn't afford having a screw up. With twenty men behind him, it was more then he ever had at once and he felt a bit pressure. He would never show it on his face however.
When everything was in order Aaron began piling things onto the caravans that would be transporting them most of the way. The rest of the way would be hiking around the Grand Canyon searching for a perfect place to set up base camp. Once everything had been loaded, all the men got to where they were assigned, some driving and the rest piling into the last one. He didn't check, just expected that Z had boarded on her own, she was more than capable.
The ride went smoothly, the guys talking excitedly among themselves as they all drive off into the desert. The chatter quieted down though as night began to fall and everyone was getting a bit tired; even himself. Exchanging quick words with the drivers, they all decided it would be best to pull over for the night before they hit a cactus or something. Honestly though, there wasn't much to hit, they just wanted to sleep. Pulling over each of the men got into pairs and grabbed a tent, quickly setting to work. Aaron threw one to Z,"Looks like we'll be rooming together for a little while." He smirked and threw a backpack of food her way.
((Will do~ and just so you know now, if you even care, I am currently on vacation, that's why my replies are rather late. I don't have wifi most places.))

Many miles away, a lone girl lay in her sleeping bag, staring up through the mesh of the top. Her hand softly petted the fox curled up asleep on her stomach. She was blissfully unaware of the government's brainwashing, or of the resistance formed to fight it. At this moment she had no worries beyond what to make for breakfast the next morning. Tomorrow would be the last day she stayed, for her supplies were dwindling. Her eyelids fluttered down until they met her cheeks and her hand rested peacefully on the fox's fur.
