I saw that the top right no longer has an inbox icon. Is this a setting I can manage? It was nice to have the icon up there because it allowed me to flow between forums, the notification board and the inbox.

When you get a new PM, the icon will appear for easy access, but while you have read messages only you can hover over your username and immediately hit "Inbox".

That's... holy moly that's really smart.

So, basically, if you need to attend to a message, boom, icon. Otherwise it's gone, but it's on your profile.

Addendum: The inbox icon was added permanently to mobile as a short-cut, so prevent mobile users from needing to search through multiple menus to get to their inbox. It's much harder on mobile than on desktop to go through the dropdowns. Still, if there's no number next to the icon, then you don't have unread messages.
