Cassie squeezed his hand and smiled, happy to have someone to lean on. "W-where am I g-going to go?" She asked, lifting her head a bit to where she thought Markal was.

"The hospital probably isn't going to let you go until they're sure you've stabilized." He figured they'd keep her here for about another day or two before releasing her. "Do you have a dad?"

"No, He died when I was three from a from a car accident." Cassie said, it was getting harder for her to breathe from all the talking, and something else. "G-Get the d-doc-doctor. I c-can't br-breathe." She struggled to say, her lungs felt like they were falling in on themselves. It was just an after effect of the surgery though, nothing too serious.

Markal was up in an instant. He ran to the door leaning out and yelling for a doctor. He came back in, followed by the doctor. He told her to calm and walked her through a breathing exercise. After she was breathing normally, he explained that her loss of breath was normal, a side effect of the surgery. Markal breathed a sigh of relief when he realized she was ok.

Cassie went through the exercises and her breathing calmed down. She nodded when he told her it was just a after effect of the surgery, and she was relieved. I hope they don't do a sight test. She thought to herself while biting her lip.

The doctor checked a few things to make sure nothing else was wrong and then left. Markal plopped back into the chair. "Do you feel better?" It seemed like a stupid question to him, as the doctor had just ok'd her.

Cassie laughed. "I think I feel like crap." She said testing her fingers in their cast. Suddenly her stomach growled at her, causing her to laugh again.

Markal smiled. "You like Chik-fil-a? The cafeteria food here isn't too great." He wrinkles his nose as he remembers his lunch earlier.

"Love it!" Cassie said with an even wider smile. "My favorite is the chick sandwich there." She said sitting up on the bed.

He grinned. "Alright, there's one just down the street. I'll grab us both some dinner and be back before you know it." Markal left and walked down the sidewalk to the restaurant, soon emerging with a large bag and two cups. He knocked on the door and came back into the room. "I have food!" He sat in the chair and handed her one of the cups. "Thought you might want a good ol' caffeinated drink. Mine is a whole mix of them." He put the bag of food on the bed next to her.

He was back before she knew it, with yummy food. Cassie reached for the food, judging by the heat and opened the bag. he picked up the sandwich and started eating it. "Whats in it?" She asked with her mouth full, referring to the drink.

"Yours has Sprite, and mine is a mixture of blue Gatorade, Coke, 7 Up and orange Fanta." He said proudly and took a sip, as if to proclaim just how good he thought the mixture was.

Cassie laughed and managed to snatch his out of his hand by the sound of his voice. She took a sip and popped the top off of her cup, expertly dumping it into his and his into hers. "Now we both have the awesome mixture." She said taking a sip of the sprite, Gatorade, coke, 7 up, and orange fanta mixture. "Mmm." She said mocking him.

"Hey!" He said in a mock hurt voice. He grabbed her cup and took an experimental sip. "Hmmm, I'll have to remember Sprite next time, this is good." He handed her cup back to her and took his back.

Cassie laughed at his mockery. "So when do I get out of this hell hole?" She asked, finishing her sandwich and throwing the empty bag at his head. She was a pretty good shot even though she was blind.

Markal laughed and caught the empty bag, balled it up and threw it into the waste basket. "They should let you out in a day or two, but you'll probably need an adult to sign you out so they know you're going back to somewhere that you'll be taken care of."

"Hmm, that will be a problem easily solved at night." Cassie said with a mischievous smile. She could honestly leave anytime she wanted to, it was just a matter of who would get in her way and get hurt.

Markal grinned. "Looks like I got mixed in with a bad girl." He teased. "Don't really look like one, but it's a mistake to judge by appearances."

Cassie laughed and finished her drink, carefully setting it on the side table. "Well, I am all patched up. So technically they have no reason to keep me here." Cassie said trying to make a point and get Markal in on the plan, she didn't really need his help but she could use it encase they needed to hide quickly.

Markal winked. "I think there might be an escaped tiger cub from the zoo later tonight to draw everyone's attention. I get the feeling he'll escape them pretty easy though." He wasn't exactly a picture of innocence himself.
