"Dance?" Talainna's eyes brightened and she broke from her group of other yang elves. "Yes please!" She laughed happily and took Raeliel's hand, pulling her into the dance that had begun in her brief absence. It was a bit of a simpler dance, but Talainna was still a child so most of her steps were a bit... improvised. She looked fairly cute, though.
Saelhil, meanwhile, had gotten another dance partner, and was dancing happily, even though his mind lingered on his and Raeliel's dance...
Saelhil, meanwhile, had gotten another dance partner, and was dancing happily, even though his mind lingered on his and Raeliel's dance...
Raeliel danced around with Talainna, finding this dance much easier since she could just improvise with the child. "You're a good dancer, Talainna!" She smiled at the girl. "Are you enjoying everything?" She wondered how the girl felt about her brother being married off like this. Obviously Talainna didn't hate her, so that was a good thing. Her eyes drifted around out of curiosity, watching the others do the dance in the 'proper' way. That was when she spotted Saelhil dancing with another woman. The ugly fire of jealousy reared up inside her, and it took everything she had not to go over and interrupt their dance. Raeliel tried to focus back on Talainna and forget what she'd just seen. Still...it made her very angry, and she had no clue why she should feel angry about it! Today seemed to be just full of confusing emotions.
Talainna nodded and did a little spin. "This is the prettiest wedding I've been to!" She nodded again. "And Raeliel? I think you look really, really pretty. Even prettier than normal!" The girl giggled, oblivious to Raeliel's worry and confusion. "But... You'll promise to still be my friend, even though you're married, won't you? Everyone who gets married always ignores me..." She looked up at Raeliel with her large eyes, slowing her steps a bit.
Well, at least Saelhil wasn't dancing with Mirwen. Instead, he was being passed along to different dance partners, seeing as the "actual" dance was one in which you switched every once in a while.

Raeliel smiled softly at the child. "Thank you, Talainna. I think you look pretty too." She blinked in surprise when she spoke of being ignored. "Of course I'll still be your friend, Talainna. Besides, I'm still helping you become princess-like, aren't I? I promise though, I won't ignore you." She smiled gently, then watched as the dancing moved along. She was keeping a careful eye this time, because of all the switching of partners. It was quite easy for him to end up with Mirwen at some point, and Raeliel was determined to not let that happen.
She pulled away a little from the girl after a bit. "Well, I think I need to stop. You're way too good at this dance." She chuckled softly. "Thank you for dancing with me, Talainna. I'm going to get a drink." She went to sip her water again, but kept her eyes on the dancing partners.

Talainna nodded, grinning happily. She went off to rejoin her group of friends, who were doing their own dance away from the main crowd of adults.
Saelhil continued dancing along effortlessly, seeming to be having a rather nice time. He would speak to whoever his dance partner was, then switch to the next without problem. As fate would have it, however, his final dance partner was Mirwen. Their exchange of words was brief and strangely uncomfortable.
"She's lovely, Sael."
"Mm. I think she's beautiful, thank you."
"And your wedding was very nice. Your father certainly knows how to plan."
"Thank you. I'm sure you had a bit to do with all this though. You've always liked to help with weddings."
And so on and so forth. Such small talk went on between them, as Saelhil was now quite confused with his feelings for Raeliel, when Mirwen had previously been the only one he loved.

Their conversation wouldn't get much farther than the topic of weddings. As soon as Raeliel spotted Mirwen dancing with Saelhil, she got up and went over. She tapped on Mirwen's shoulder and smiled a fake smile. "Excuse me, do you mind if I steal my husband for a few steps?" No matter how much she told herself she didn't like Saelhil, she absolutely could not stand the sight or thought of them together. And she was certainly not going to let them dance together! She refused to let Mirwen experience what she had experienced earlier.
Saelhil blinked in surprise when Mirwen pulled away from him and Raeliel took her place. He watched as Mirwen shifted into the crowd and he soon lost sight of her. His gaze shifted back to Raeliel as he continued the dance with her. "Is something the matter?" he asked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. He looked again to where Mirwen had gone, but she had definitely disappeared.
Raeliel gave a quiet 'thank you' to Mirwen, and then stepped into place to dance with Saelhil. "Hm? Oh no, nothing's the matter. Why should anything be the matter when my husband is dancing with his old love?" she replied calmly. She didn't look at him, not wanting to get lost like before. Besides, she didn't really want to let him know of her jealousy. "Talainna is very sweet." she commented. "I was at first worried that she might not like me for 'taking you away', but she is very kind."
Saelhil opened his mouth to reply to her first comment about his "old love", but he quickly decided against it, not wanting to start another argument. So a took a breath. "Talainna isn't the jealous type, surprisingly. She doesn't really mind sharing me... But to be honest, I'm a bit worried about when she gets older. She's much too pretty for her own good." He huffed through his nose slightly, glancing in the direction of his sister. He really, really didn't want to deal with boys for his sister yet, but when she got older he wouldn't hesitate to do something if anyone broke Talainna's heart.
Raeliel chuckled softly. "She's got a good head on her shoulders, though. She'll be fine." She glanced at him. "You're a good brother..." Apparently all it took was a glance, because she found herself staring at him again. And then it just slipped out, ending her sentence. "Sael." Yes, Sael. Not Saelhil. The nickname had taken the opportunity of her distraction and just slipped right out from her lips while she was talking. When she realized what she'd said, Raeliel blushed and looked away quickly. "I mean, she obviously cares about you, so it's good you care for her too." she said, a little quickly, to try and make him forget what she'd just called him.
(Going to grandparents today, I'll post when I can while I'm there )
"Thank you," was all Saelhil said. Had he missed that she called him by his "common" name? Not at all. He was very aware of it. But he did not respond to that small slip of the tongue, and instead just continued the dance for a few more moments, then the song ended. He took a breath and pulled away from her. "I'm afraid I'll have to take a break for now. Care to join me, Raeliel?" He offered his arm politely to his wife, smiling softly at her.
Raeliel was ready for a break too once the dance ended, and she certainly didn't want to give Mirwen the chance to talk with him again. "That sounds nice." She took his arm and let him lead her where he wanted to sit. "It's amusing, everyone else seems to have much more energy than we do." She chuckled softly and looked at him, then quickly looked away. It must be all the wedding makeup, that had to be it. That had to be what was making him look so handsome and entrancing.
Saelhil led her back to some chairs that had been set away from the table, so that they could watch the festivities. "They always do this," he mentioned with a bit of a smile. "Tomorrow you don't have to join in, but between the festivities, people will be coming to our house to give our wedding gifts." He nodded. "We take things like this very seriously... or lightly, depending on how you look at it. Everything is cause for celebration."
Raeliel listened to him. "Really? Wow." She watched the people for a bit, then looked at him. "Well, weddings usually are. I mean, a sad wedding would be no good. Weddings are celebrated in my homeland as well. I don't know if they're as....festive, as this, but there is music, and dancing, and food, and gifts. All of that." She looked around. "It's kind of interesting. I grew up knowing I would get married, but...it still feels like this was a day that was never going to happen." She chuckled. "Looks like it really did happen."

{Kidoke!}
Saelhil smiled a bit, nodding. "It does seem that way, doesn't it?" After a moment, he looked at her curiously. "How old are you?" It wasn't really that important, seeing as they were elves, but he was merely curious.

Raeliel smiled a little, then looked around until he spoke to her. "Hm? Oh, well...it depends how you are counting." She chuckled a bit. "In our elven years, I'm twenty-one years of age. Naturally for humans, it's much longer than that." She gave a shrug. "Why do you ask?" She glanced at him and couldn't help but smirk. "Worried I'm too old or young for you?"

"Worried? Not at all! Just... curious. Not a lot of people keep track, usually after they hit about two hundred human years." Saelhil shrugged a little. He himself appeared only a few years older than Raeliel, but he could have been much, much older for all he knew.
Raeliel chuckled. "Yes. Well, I keep track through elven years, it makes it easier. Human years go too fast." She smiled a little bit, then looked around. "How long do the festivities last?" She was certain that she wouldn't be able to do this all day! All the dancing and energy would completely wear her out. "What about you, Saelhil?"
