"We'll leave in the morning, if you want," Saelhil stood up as well. He moved slightly. "Are you well-recognized there?" he asked, watching her for a moment.
Raeliel nodded at his question. "Of course. As I've been telling Talainna, I'm practically the equivalent of a princess. Everyone knows me. So you'd better have some good disguises in mind." She looked at him carefully. "...you do realize that I will be shamed forever if we're caught, and your village will be cast in a bad light for my people for generations."
Saelhil nodded. "Very well. Just a bit of dye and a drop of potion should do the trick." He smiled a bit at her. "I'll make sure no one recognizes you. And..." He hesitated now. "I'm guessing we should ride horses there."
Raeliel hesitated and looked at him. "...given earlier today, horses would be best. I would suggest you leaf-walk with me there, but I don't think leaf-walking does well as a duo..." She took in a deep breath. "...Get some sleep. We'll leave early, first thing tomorrow." She wanted this to just happen. She went to get something to eat, and then she herself got ready for bed. They could do the dye and potion thing in the morning. Her night was a fitful one, however. Nightmares would often wake her, and if Saelhil stirred during the night he would often find Raeliel in tears again. In the morning, she finally woke up and got up, glad that the night was over.
Saelhil awoke early, even earlier than Raeliel (he found that he moved too much, so he gave her some time to sleep with him out of the bed). He had already packed some bags for them, and he had left a note to his father saying where they were going, and he had acquired the dye for Raeliel's hair, and the potion for her eyes. Along with some natural elf clothes and a hooded-cloak, no one would be able to recognize her unless they truly, truly knew who she was.
Raeliel went to find him once she woke. She would let him do the potion for her eyes and the dye for her hair, then she would get dressed in the clothes that he had brought for her. "Are you sure you want to do this, Saelhil?" She was surprised he was so vehement in this. She didn't quite understand. Didn't he not like Mirathin? She had somewhat gathered that. Maybe she was wrong, though. Still, Raeliel would do whatever he told her to, watching.
"Of course I'm sure," Saelhil said, determined. He sat her down and began to pour the dye into her hair. It was a special mixture that would wash out with a certain salve only, just like the Glow. It made Raeliel's hair a dark ebony brown, from root to tip. Just for extra measure, he darkened her eyebrows as well. "This might sting a little," he warned her as he tilted her head up. "Try not to blink." He pulled out a small glass bottle, then tilted it, getting a drop of the clear liquid in either of her eyes. In a few minutes, her irises would turn a dark brown, and she would almost resemble Talainna. He stuck both the dye, salve, and eyedrops into a bag. "Get changed. The village will be awake soon." He had put out some natural elf travelling clothes--pants and high boots with a long-sleeved tunic and a vest--and a hooded cloak for her to wear. He was already dressed, but seeing as no one in her village knew what he looked like, he felt no need to dye his hair or change his eyes.
Raeliel did very well, keeping still, trying her best not to blink, etc. It was all was very interesting. "Wow...this is amazing." She got changed as he said, and got everything else ready. "Alright. Do you have horses?" She wasn't sure, since...well, since they all leaf-walked. She looked at her hair, since it was long enough for her to hold in her hands. "Wow....I always wondered what I would look like with dark hair." She glanced at him, tempted to ask a question, but she held back. She just waited for him to be ready to get on the horses and head out.
"Yes. We do have a stable, for the occasional travelling. We'll use the village horses, since I don't own any personally." Saelhil took a breath, then slung the bag over his shoulder and led her outside, towards the stable. He had put some ointment on his bruises, so they were significantly better, so he wasn't afraid of trying to ride a horse now. When they arrived, Saelhil tacked up two horses. "Now would be a good time for a quick lesson in riding."
Raeliel had nearly forgotten that he didn't know how to ride a horse! "Right. Well, you need to be relaxed. Horses can sense when you're tense, and they get tense too. Mount like this." She showed him how to put his left foot up and then swing over onto the saddle. She then showed him how to hold the reigns, and how to gently nudge the horse with his feet to get it to move. She would lead the way this time, letting him direct her until she got to familiar territory.
Saelhil followed all her instructions carefully. They rode out of the village, heading north (off the path, just in case). Eventually, Saelhil got the hang of riding, and he relaxed and kept a good speed. "Is there anything I should know about your village?" he asked. "I don't want to stick out too much."
Raeliel looked over at him. "If we're going as a pair of natural elves, you'll stick out anyways. Just be yourself, they won't suspect anything. I will warn you, though. No offense, but it is much more sophisticated than your village. There is a lot more of 'should' and 'shouldn't', 'proper' and 'improper'. A lot." She rode on quickly. She would rather get there, say her goodbyes and get back as soon as possible. "We'll say that we're from your village and we came to see Raeliel's homeland because she has said such wonderful things about it. They expect me to culture your people, so this would fall right in with their expectations."
"Good." Saelhil nodded, glad he could just be himself. He didn't enjoy acting, and he wasn't the best at it, unlike Raeliel. He could pull it off, but only if Raeliel took the lead. And so they rode on, until Saelhil was unfamiliar with the territory, so Raeliel took the lead until the village came into sight.
Raeliel felt both excited and nervous as the village came into view. It was a bustling town, with shops and vendors. They immediately got some stares, a few whispers spreading as well. Raeliel looked around, pretending to be in amazement. She got off the horse, letting herself stumble a little bit. Then she straightened and smiled at Saelhil. "We're here! Isn't it amazing? Just like Lady Raeliel said." She looked around, then glanced back to Saelhil. Well...they were here. Now what?
(Heading out now, I might be able to post through my Kindle and stuff!)
Saelhil dismounted (albeit rather ungracefully), and he looked around. He pushed back his hood, eyes rather wide in amazement. It was so big... with so many people! They all wore clothing as Raeliel had arrived in, and each woman wore make-up and had flawless skin and hair, and the men were crisp and clean and walked with purpose. There weren't any children running about playing games, and vendors shouted at passersby, trying to sell their goods. "By the gods..." he murmured, trying to take in everything. After a while, he quickly shook his head, trying to get himself focused. They needed to find out about Mirathin's funeral, or where his grave was, should they have already buried him. He glanced unsurely at Raeliel, not even sure where to begin to look for information.

raeliel carefully put her hood down and looked around. they had to pretend to be new. "lets ask where the inn is at." she took his hand and started walking. the inn would have all the gossip.

Saelhil nodded, continuing to walk along, pulling the horses by the reigns. He got a few funny looks that made him feel uncomfortable. "Who do we ask?" he questioned, keeping rather close to Raeliel.
raeliel looked at him for a moment and then looked away. "ummm this person." she walked over to an elf. very haughtily, they were given directions to theinn. she walke with him to theinn and entered.
