As they walked, Salehil was simply aghast at how busy the village was. Everything was rather loud, unlike his simple village back home. When the entered the large inn, they were faced with even more people. Needless to say, Saelhil was more than a bit overwhelmed.
raeliel pretendedto be overwhelmed...and then was overwhelmed quite honestly!! because mirathin was sitting right at one of the tables. raeliel didnt understand. how could this be?
Saelhil spotted Mirathin as well. "Is that...?" He glanced at Raeliel, then at Mirathin. It had to be! "Go to him," he whispered to Raeliel, gesturing towards Mirathin.
Raeliel stared. "Y...yes. That...is.." She stared at Saelhil for a moment. "Y...you think I should? But...I'm...I'm not supposed to be here..." She took his hand and carefully walked over to Mirathin, with him. She cleared her throat slightly. "Hello." Mirathin looked up. "Oh, hello. Do I know you two?"
Raeliel took in a shaky breath. "Yes, Mira. You know me." Mirathin went pale. He stood up quickly and suddenly grabbed her by the arm, dragging her and Saelhil into a private room and shutting the door. "What are you doing here?!" he whispered, staring at Raeliel and Saelhil. Raeliel frowned. "I could ask you the same question! I...I thought...I thought you were dead!"
Mirathin looked away. "Well...I am. To you. That's how it was supposed to be! Your father knew about us, Raeliel. He wanted to make sure that there was nothing that could pull you back to your home. So he came up with a plan to fake my death, so that you wouldn't be holding on to anything back here."

(I'm back! I will be posting for the rest of the night )
Saelhil listened to their brief conversation. Once they there in the room, he frowned slightly. So her father had lied to her? He would never understand these people. Nevertheless, he looked sternly at Mirathin.
"I brought Raeliel here to say goodbye," he said, surprisingly gently for his serious expression. "I am glad you are alive, because she likes you very, very much. But please, you won't tell Lord Dragun of our visit, will you? Even my own people don't know we're here."

Raeliel turned away, turning her back to Saelhil and Mirathin. This was...terrible. Mirathin sighed. "You should never have come, Raeliel! And you should never have let her. You need to put some effort into this too! She'll never move on if she has something to hold onto. You've ruined everything." He sighed and closed his eyes. "Great...No, I won't tell him. I can't tell him. If I told him, well...it'd be trouble for everyone!"
Raeliel was very quiet. Mirathin stood up and walked over to her, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Raeliel...things were nice. But you've got a real relationship now. You don't need me. You need to move on and enjoy what you have now."
Raeliel turned around quickly to face him, pushing his hand away. "Was that really just what it was, Mirathin? Was this...just getting me ready for...him?" She stared at him, waiting for an answer. Mirathin was quiet for a few moments, and then he nodded. "...yes. Your father thought it would be better if you had some experience with men before you were put in a relationship with marriage." He looked over to Saelhil. "I mean, we never made love, though I'm sure you found that out already. But..." He turned to face Raeliel. "It was just to help you get used to being held, and having a light romance, so that you wouldn't be completely uneasy with the arranged marriage."

Saelhil's hands balled into fists. His ears had turned bright pink; it wasn't from embarrassment, but his quick temper had fired up once more. Yes, he had heard stories of these elves who weren't like his people, but he never imagine so much deception. It almost made him ill!
Raeliel's father had lied to her about her previous lover being attacked and killed; he had forbidden her to come home. Now, her "lover" had actually just been employed by her father to... to train her to be with a man! Did these elves have no emotions? Or was everything--the lies, the stoics, and the formalities--all just a part of regular life?!
However, Sael didn't voice any of these angry thoughts, me remain steely-faced and deathly silent, afraid he would lash out on Mirathin if he tried to speak.

Raeliel stepped away from Mirathin and went over to Saelhil. "Let's go. We never should have come." She paused and looked over at Mirathin. "Mirathin...tell my father that he could really learn something from Saelhil's people." She took Sael by the arm and started walking out. "Let's just go..." Mirathin sighed. "Raeliel, you've changed. I don't think it's for the better." Raeliel stopped, and turned to look at him. "I would rather change than be a lying slave to a horrible lying man." She turned and hurried out of the inn, going to get their horses. She just wanted to leave. She couldn't believe what she was learning.
Saelhil felt a small stroke of pride inside when Raeliel stood up for herself (and his people!). He was glad when she decided to leave, and followed along with a final glare at Mirathin. He mounted up a bit awkwardly onto his horse, but quickly adjusted himself to be comfortable and looked to her, knowing she would lead without any question from him. Should he speak to her, or let her cool off first?
Raeliel got onto her horse and spurred it on. She took a swift pace. She just wanted to get out. Get away. Escape. She let the horse run as fast as it could, and when they reached the village, she got off the horse. "Walk them a bit to help them cool down, I'm going inside." She just went right into the house. This was ridiculous. Everything was...terrible. So terrible. She would have rather believed that Mirathin was dead than know all of this!
Saelhil did as he was told, waiting for the horses to stop sweating so much. Afterwards, he unpacked them and put them back where they belonged before returning home, ensuring his house silently. He didn't know quite what to say to Raeliel, now that she realized what he had been speculating ever since she arrived and he noticed her tendencies to put on an act in front of different people.
Raeliel was standing by the window in their bedroom. She took in a deep breath and let it out. "...Saelhil..." She turned around to face him. "....this was a bad idea. All of this. With my luck, my people will influence yours, and they'll just end up as ruined as my home..." She sniffled softly and closed her eyes. "This is just...horrible..." She sat down and hid her face in her hands. She couldn't believe it.
"No, no, Raeliel. You mustn't think that way..." Saelhil came to crouch in front of her. "None of this is your fault, and feeling bad about it won't solve anything." He watched her for a few moments. "Your people are not evil, not at all. They aren't ruined. They are simply... used to their way of life. If you have seen this in only a few days, imagine what good could come of our two villages coming together. As you said before... My people are stubborn. They won't be influenced easily."
Raeliel sighed, looking out at him. "...okay." She looked at him for a moment. "Saelhil. Did anything happen during our dance yesterday?" She paused. "Er...two days ago, I suppose it was." She turned her head away. She had blurted it out, now she had to suffer. But it seemed they just weren't to discuss it! A knock came on the house door again. This time it was one of the villagers, with a present of food for their supper meal, since they had noticed the two of them had returned early. Raeliel let Saelhil get the door, since she still had to get out of her disguise.
"Maybe we really should go somewhere...we could say we just forgot something and that's why we came back."
"Maybe we really should go somewhere...we could say we just forgot something and that's why we came back."
When Saelhil returned, he nodded to her question. "Where would you want to go?" he questioned. "I haven't really been out of the village before, so O'm open to anything and everything." He didn't forget her first question, though, but he was thinking carefully about it. What had she meant by it?

(Ooooo good luck! I work tomorrow from noon to 6, so I won't be on until after 6, 6:30ish. Have fun!)
Raeliel thought over his question. "...do you have beaches? Somewhere nice and unpopulated. Or maybe somewhere like the hot springs. I don't know...I just don't feel like being around other people right now." She sighed. "I am hungry, though. Whatever they brought, it sure smells good..." And it was late in the day now, after all their journeying. They could figure out more things tomorrow.

"The eastern shore is a small village. But... There are a few unoccupied houses along the coast. We could go there, if you want." Saelhil smiled at her comment about the food. "Then let's eat."
(Home and on for the rest of the night )
Raeliel nodded slightly. "Yes...yes. Let's go there..." She looked at him for a few moments, then nodded. She went to go sit down and eat, being quiet and thoughtful. She was not going to be going through a good time with all that she knew about now. "...Saelhil..." She took in a deep breath and let it out. "...thank you. For making me go. I wish I hadn't, but it's better living with the truth than a lie."

{Yay~!}
Saelhil quietly for a while, until she spoke. He then looked up at her, searching her face for a moment. He then nodded in response. "I wish it would have gone differently, in any case," he replied softly.
