Saelhil offered a smile, then continued the tour. It was a lovely house, and mostly clean. He soon turned to her. "Would you like to rest today? I'm going swimming for a while." He smiled cheerfully, hoping to get her mind off things.

Raeliel looked at him. "...I'll come swimming. I think it would be nice." Rest was a good idea as well but she also wanted to swim. She was too worried what her brain might do if she laid down to rest.

Saelhil nodded. "Very good. Change into something you don't mind getting wet, then." He smiled, then went up into the room to change into the shorts he reserved for swimming in the ocean; they went about three-quarters down his thighs, and had drapes in the front and back for whatever modesty he wished to have.

Raeliel went to find something she could swim in, and she opted for a slip she had to wear under dresses. She didn't really have anything else. So she put it on, and hoped that swimming wouldn't do much of a number on it. She looked around the house as she went to the front door to wait for him. It really was a very nice house, she was rather glad they could stay there. "Saelhil...." She glanced over at him, something coming to mind as she looked at the flowers out front through the window. "Did your mother die?"

Saelhil joined her, now leading her down the cliff to the shore. "Hm?" He glanced back at her. "Yes, she did. A while ago, from an illness that spread through my village. Talainna almost died from it, as well... Why do you ask?"

Raeliel blinked and looked at him. "Really? But she looks so healthy and energetic." She paused for a moment when he asked why, wondering if she could tell him. "Well...the flowers ours were planted by. One was shriveled up. That was your mother's flower, wasn't it?" It was strange, to think that flowers represented life like that.

Saelhil hesitated his walk, but quickly continued. He took a breath and nodded a bit. "Mm. It was. My father said that her flower had been the most beautiful bloom there." He smiled a bit. "It's strange, how the plants can correspond to their planters. I've often wondered if it's magic, or perhaps the gods playing a part in it." He shrugged, seemingly at peace with his mother's passing.

Raeliel listened to him. "Yes...it is strange. I'm sorry, Saelhil. That must have been hard." She took in a deep breath and let it out, following him to the shore. "Saelhil, what do you think we should do while we're here?" They'd be there a few days after all. She didn't know what was in the area. "What do you think the water is like?"

"Thank you for your concern." Sael nodded slightly, then looked out to the sea. "We can explore the village, or ride along the shore to see the mountains, or simply stay here and lay in the sun. Whatever you wish." He smiled gently at her, then inhaled the salty air deeply. "The water is most-likely a bit cold, this time of year. But it is the most refreshing thing to swim in."

Raeliel laughed softly. "It actually sounds really tempting to just lay in the sun. I'm not sure if I've ever done that." She nodded slightly. "The sun is still up, so it will be nice and warm." She went to step in the water once they reached the shore, jumping slightly. "Oh...it is cold!" She chuckled and smiled at him, then took a step back, to just let the water wash over her feet occasionally to get used to it. "You go first."

"Me?" Saelhil chuckled, then grinned and ran in, splashing as much as he could possibly splash before diving into the water at the slight drop-off. He poked his head above the surface and smiled at her. "There's a four foot drop there; be careful when you come in!" he warned, then took a breath and dove down underwater again. He loved to swim, especially deep underwater. It was so peaceful and quiet, and it gave him time to think and relax.

Raeliel carefully went into the water, following him towards the drop-off. She was very careful now, because he had mentioned the drop-off. "Saelhil, what do you think of all this? The marriage." She smiled softly at him, watching him before looking out at the sky. "It's so beautiful here...I feel like it's so much more beautiful than home."

"Our marriage?" Saelhil floated on his back, closing his eyes for a few moments. "Well, we've been married for less than a week, but I think it's going quite swimmingly so far." He stretched, smiling. "Mm. Being here doesn't hurt our marriage at all, I don't think. I'm just glad you don't hate me." He turned himself upright again, glancing at her.

Raeliel rolled her eyes at the pun. She couldn't believe he'd just made a pun like that! "I think it's going alright too." She looked at him. "I don't hate you, Saelhil. I just...." She sighed and shook her head. "Nevermind..." She couldn't explain it. It was so complicated. She couldn't even begin to explain how she felt.

"It's alright. You can call me what you wish... Uncivilized, uncouth, barbaric, simple-minded... Nothing you say to me would change what I think of you, or how I feel about you." Saelhil smiled reassuringly at her, then flicked some water in her direction.

Raeliel stayed upright, but she looked at him carefully. "...And how do you feel about me, Saelhil?" He had said it earlier, but she still couldn't quite believe it. "I'm sorry that I said those things about you, Saelhil. This has been rather difficult for me." She watched him, waiting for responses. She really wanted to learn more about what he thought of her and how he felt.

"I told you earlier." Saelhil laughed a bit, then had a gentle expression on his face. "You are the perfect wife--refined, and beautiful, and intelligent. But... you have something different about you. You're interesting, even though you seem... closed-up, but I suppose you have grounds to be, seeing how you were raised. I honestly care for you, Raeliel. My feelings for you may be romantic, but I'm not quite sure yet, to be completely honest." He smiled at her. "Think nothing of it. I would hate to be forced out of my village to get married so some stranger with a completely different outlook on life."

Raeliel watched him, listening to his words. She blushed when he spoke of her being the perfect wife. "Of course I am. I've trained all my life to be exactly that." She looked at him carefully when she said she was different and interesting. "...well...thank you, I think?" She felt odd, accepting the compliment. It was an odd compliment, but one nonetheless. "Well, I always knew it would happen someday, but you just turned out a lot different than I expected, I suppose. But...I'd rather it this way, I think."

"You would rather it be this way than what way?" Saelhil asked, swimming a bit towards her, so that he could hear her a bit better over the sea breeze and the small waves.

Raeliel felt a little nervous when he moved closer. "I'd rather it this way than have the man I marry turn out just like I expected." She took in a deep breath and looked away. "I mean...things are interesting. It's all...very interesting. So, maybe it's not too terrible that things didn't turn out the way I expected.." She wasn't good at discussing her real thoughts or emotions. She was far too used to just pretending to be what everyone expected.
