Saelhil smiled, then took her hand to bring her up the stairs, then up yet another set of stairs, hidden behind a doorway. "My mother loved looking at the constellations," he informed her, "so my father had a starlight built for her."

Raeliel was surprised. The building had a starlight! She followed him, holding his hand in hers. His hand was so strong, but gentle. Like a certain someone... Raeliel shook her head a little. No. She refused to think of him. She could not think of him, never again. Saelhil spoke of forgiveness, but such a thing couldn't come when he so permeated her mind even now. As they reached the top of the stairs, Raeliel tried to keep her mind off of him by looking up at the stars. The smell of citrus still reached her. It was unfair of him, to have such an attention-catching scent. "It's beautiful up here."
"Mm." Saelhil looked up at the half-glass ceiling. He led her to where a large pile of cushions lay on the floor, just below the skylight. He lay down, and gestured for her to join him, before gazing up at the sky. The dark blue was still shaded with dashes of deep violet and scarlet, making it a gorgeous view...and actually a bit romantic (which was probably another reason Saelhil's father had built it when he married Saelhil's mother; newly weds tend to do that sort of thing, after all).

Raeliel laid down on the cushions beside him, looking up at the sky. It was indeed romantic. But it would not find Raeliel making the first move. As much as he drew her in, the memory of her lying lover drew her away. She stared up at the sky. "I never had a view like this before." she said quietly. "I wasn't allowed to watch the stars much. I needed rest. Watching the stars was foolish, because there's no point. They're just stars." She sighed. "My people think too practically..."
"I think..." Saelhil began softly, "I think your people think more like humans than elves." He glanced briefly at her, then looked back up. "They think too much about right now, not enough about enjoying life. We've so long to experience things... we don't need to hurry anything. If you were human, I think I would understand more, but..." He shrugged. "Then again, it may be my people who are too casual about life."

Raeliel listened to him. "...I honestly don't know. She looked at him, watching him as he stared up at the sky. "...I think my people are cold. I think they are cold and cruel." She closed her eyes tightly. "I used to be fine with it. I used to like how things were. But then I was thrust here, and your viewpoints, it just...confuses me. So, so terribly. I used to be so good at not feeling sadness. Now it nearly overwhelms me every chance it gets."
"Well... give it time," Saelhil suggested quietly. "I understand how hard it must be, but all there is to do is wait, and try to figure things out." He sighed, then turned on his side to watch her. "If there's anything I could do to help... I'll do it. Anything."

Raeliel blinked when he turned to look at her and she quickly looked up at the stars. At his words, she was rather quiet. "...thank you." Help? What could he do to help? She knew what she wanted, yet she could not ask. She wanted to be held. She wanted to feel loved again. At least when she had been sent to Saelhil's in the first place, she knew that her escort still had feelings for her. Or, so she thought. Now that it turned out to all be a lie, it was as if no one loved her at all. Sure, Saelhil's sister cared about her, and maybe Saelhil did too. But even her father didn't love her. He was so very willing to lie to her. Raeliel just watched the stars, wishing she could shut off her emotions again like she had been before she met Saelhil.
Saelhil watched her for a bit, then sighed quietly and just looked up to the sky. After a long while, he sat up and rubbed his cheek. "Well... I think I'll go to bed. You're free to stay here if you'd like." He stood and stretched. "You can sleep in the master bedroom if you'd like. If you'd rather, I'll sleep in one of the other bedrooms." He realized, of course, that she might want to lay off the act of having such a perfect marriage, now that they were out of the village.

Raeliel looked over at him as he spoke. "...any bed is fine by me." She went back to looking up at the sky. She may even fall asleep there on the cushions. "Goodnight, Saelhil." The stars made her feel so small. Small and alone. At least with Saelhil there, she could feel his presence by her side. But now that he was leaving, it felt like she was the only one in the whole world. "..sleep well."
"Sweet dreams, Raeliel." Saelhil offered a small smile, then left the room to sleep in the guest room, so he could give Raeliel her privacy and some space during the night. Given, he was a bit lonely, as he normally slept near his sister, or, more recently, with Raeliel, but he didn't know how Raeliel felt about the whole thing, so he would sacrifice if it would make her more comfortable.

Raeliel was up a long time, thinking. She could not sleep. It was too cold in the beautiful starry room, so reluctantly, she made her way back to the bedroom. But still, in her own bed, she could not sleep. Every time she drifted off, she saw Miralin's face and tears filled her eyes. And it was for this very reason that Saelhil would feel a slight movement on his bed as she climbed in with him, quietly. She would put her back to him and pull the covers over herself. Perhaps his presence would ease her slumber. It was worth a try, since nothing else would help her sleep.
Raeliel's warmth drew Saelhil to her, as warmth always did of the young man. He awoke groggily, and his senses awakened just enough so that he could realize that she was there. Before his mind got the chance to wake up, he slid his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him, yearning for her warmth and comfort. But as sleepy as he was, he said nothing, and only pressed his nose and lips against the back of her head, inhaling the sweet scent of the soap she used in her hair, the intoxicating smell soon sending him back into a deep sleep.

Raeliel, more awake than he was, was surprised when she was pulled back against him. Her face flushed as he breathed in the scent of her hair, and their closeness sent her heart racing. After a few moments, however, she settled. She was tired, weary. In his warm, strong arms, sleep stole over her quickly. She would probably wake after he did, since she had stayed up later than him. She was rather tired, but once she was in the same bed as Saelhil, she slept well.

(On that note, I am going to skip off to bed! I will respond to your next post in the morning :D)
Saelhil awoke the next morning, just after sunrise. He was reluctant to move, as he was comfortable next to Raeliel's sleeping form. After a while, though, he decided he needed to get up, and so he got out of bed as quietly as he could, as to not wake her, and he went outside for some fresh air, and to wake himself up so he could think about breakfast.

{Good night! :)}

Somehow throughout the night, Raeliel had rolled over in her sleep and curled up against him. The sudden lack of his body heat slowly started to register, and she slowly started waking up. She pulled the covers closer around her and sighed, not wanting to wake yet. But finally, she noticed she was in an empty bed. Had last night just been a dream? Had she really fallen asleep easily in her own bed? She sat up and stretched, giving a yawn. Saelhil was nowhere to be seen, it must have been. But then, there was the lingering scent of oranges on the bed. Perhaps it hadn't been a dream after all. Raeliel sighed. Why was it, then, that she needed to share a bed with him to sleep well? She shrugged thinking off for now and got up, going down to see if she could do something for breakfast. She was sleepy, but hungry. And she didn't feel like thinking right now.
Saelhil had ended up going into the kitchen, searching for something to eat. He glanced over his shoulder when he heard Raeliel come downstairs. "Ah, good morning Raeliel." He smiled at her, then turned back to the cupboards. "Did you sleep alright last night? I know it gets a bit cold here after the sun sets."

(Got an hour 'till I gotta leave for church, I'll be posting non-stop until then :) )

Raeliel looked at him for a moment. "Good morning. Yes, I slept fine, thank you.." She looked away, her cheeks flushing a little. She gave a yawn, then walked over to stand beside him. "What are you doing?" She looked at what was in the cupboard, slowly thinking about what could be made for breakfast. At least the house was fairly stocked with food. That was handy.
{I just got back from church~ (we go earlyyyy) x3}

"Searching for some breakfast," Saelhil said, feeling her presence closer to him now. He scratched the side of his head for a moment. "We could go into the village and get some fresh things. Eggs, meat, milk... Or maybe get something for the bakery. I honestly can't cook much else than stew." He smiled sheepishly, slowly closing the cupboard.
