(Nice! This is a really late service because it's at a different church I normally go a bit earlier too)
Raeliel chuckled. "Well then, it's good luck that I can cook, hm? Let's see...I think we should go to the village. Then I can make us some eggs and bacon, and we could get some fresh bread." She looked at him. "How does that sound?" She stretched a little bit. "If that is the plan, though, I need to go get dressed." Honestly, she was a little relieved and excited to have the chance to show off some of the skills she learned growing up. She left him to go get dressed, changing into her dayclothes, but something that was able to be worn when riding a horse since they had to go to the village. She came back down, braiding her hair so it wouldn't get in her face. "Are you ready?"

She came back down, braiding her hair so it wouldn't get in her face. "Are you ready?"
"That sounds perfect." Saelhil nodded, going upstairs to also get dressed. He was just in some casual clothes, as of course he rarely did anything that required formal attire. When she asked of his status, he nodded once more. "Yes, I believe so." He had a pouch of coins tied to his belt, ready to be spent on food. Where he had gotten the coins was a mystery, as he had said on one of Raeliel's first days at the village that they rarely used money.
Raeliel didn't question his sudden acquisition of money, since she figured there might have been a stash somewhere in the house for an emergency. She went with him to their horses and climbed on. "Lead on, Saelhil." She smiled a little. She was interested in going to town, and seeing how this town was like. She was very curious indeed. It was a nice morning, though, and she was pleased with their outing. Maybe today would be a nice day.
Saelhil led her down the hill, back towards the town. It was only a few minutes until they reached the village. It was a peculiar town, with more shops and stalls than homes, but most importantly, it was home to both humans and elves. The two races seemed perfectly fine working together, and even the children played together (sometimes with much older-looking human children, due to the ageing difference). He looked around. "Where to first?" he asked. "The farmer's market or the bakery?" It was a bustling town, even at that time of morning. Shopowners were setting up, farmers were bringing goods in carts, and travellers were leaving inns, ready to replenish their supplies and be on their way.
Raeliel was amazed. She didn't often see humans. "Incredible..." She looked over to him. "Hm? Oh, let's start at the farmer's market. We'll get the bread on our way back." She got off her horse, looking around. So many of the people were so...portly! How could humans stand being so ugly? She was looking around at all the humans when one caught her eye. He reminded her of some of the elven men, but he was much more burly and muscular. A farm hand, perhaps, with the strength he had. She wasn't used to seeing such strong individuals. The elves were usually more slight, like a panther, than burly like an ox. The man caught her staring and gave her a wink, making Raeliel realize that she had, indeed, been staring. She blushed and quickly looked away. Humans were so bold!
(I gotta go to church, I'll be on after lunch!)
Saelhil took the liberty of leading their horses towards the farmer's market. Many humans idled around, some helping their elven comrades move goods, for of course humans are much stronger than elves. Despite the closeness between the two races, most of the spouses and families were not interracial. Saelhil looked around for somewhere to get eggs, and spotted a couple of stands selling eggs laid just that morning. "Ah, here we are..."
{See you!}
(Back!)
Raeliel followed him along, letting him pick out the eggs. She was still quite interested in everything going on around her. That was when she spotted the human again. This time, HE was watching HER. She quickly looked away like before, and helped Saelhil pick out eggs. "I've never seen humans and elves work so closely like this. Normally our kinds bicker and argue with each other." She looked up at Saelhil. Maybe it was just her people, not his.

{Yeah!}
Saelhil nodded. He had also seen the young human watching Raeliel, but he had yet to show it. "This is a special place," he said. "Because it is so close to the sea, and the human cities are just a few hours north, cultures are mixed greatly. You know, once, when I was a child, I even met a man whose parents were of either race. He was a half-elf. Can you even imagine? I don't mind humans, most of the time, but to marry one? I cannot even fathom the thought." He paid the human woman who owned the stand, and she gave them a basket in which they could carry the eggs safely.

Raeliel stared and him and gasped as he spoke. "A half-elf??" It was absolutely preposterous!! Raeliel collected herself enough to thank the woman for the eggs. Then, they would head towards the meat. "I can't even imagine. I mean, aside from everything else, the human spouse would die before the elf would even have a quarter of their lifetime! It's just not even practical. And that poor child is doomed to be bullied by both sides of his race, unfortunately. He'll live too old for humans, but still too young for elves." She shook her head a little. When they reached the meat, she was surprised to find that the man from earlier was assisting the stall! "What can I get for you two today?" he asked. His voice was deep and husky, and he gave them a charming grin, though it was moreso directed at Raeliel, causing her to blush again.
"Exactly," Salehil sighed a bit. "I wonder where he is now..." He shook his head slightly and continued on, looking around as they came to the stall. He noticed Raeliel's reddening, but said nothing about it. "Mm. Half a pound of bacon, please, sir." He gestured to some of the fresh pig laid out. Well, at least he was plenty polite to humans... even when they were flirting with his wife.
The man dealt out the half a pound of bacon and handed it over, collecting the price. He gave another wink to Raeliel, and the stall owner slapped the back of his head and scolded him, but this only made him grin more. Raeliel was quite flustered. She wasn't used to being flirted with, especially by a human! It was interesting to even her, though, that she was more flattered than willing to turn her nose up at him. Normally she would act superior, because she was. But perhaps it was his well-toned stature that made her feel like she wasn't quite superior to the dashing man.
Saelhil's smile dropped quickly into a frown--no, not a even frown, a scowl. He grudgingly thanked him but gripped Raeliel's hand and pulled her away. His stomach was churning furiously. That man was barely a child, and he was flirting with an elf woman that was far beyond him? How upsurd! The human had no right!....it was strange to Saelhil, feeling a sudden surge of anger course through him, even if just for a few moments. Raeliel had responded exactly the way the human wanted, and it almost sickened Saelhil. This new emotion--jealousy, and anger--caused him to ball his hands into fists and his eyes to narrow rather dangerously. He could all but try to control how much anger and contempt he showed towards the man. He wouldn't even notice if Raeliel saw his raw jealousy, so new to him. His life had never called for the emotion before, and his body didn't quite know how to react to it.
Raeliel gasped softly as she was tugged away, surprised at Saelhil's sudden change. "S-Sael...Saelhil!" She was tugging at him, trying to free her hand. "Saelhil, you're hurting me!" Honestly, to see Saelhil in this manner scared her. What had made him so angry?? Suddenly, she found a strong hand on her shoulder, and another strong hand on Saelhil's arm that was holding her. "Excuse me," that husky voice said, "but she told you to let go." Raeliel stared. It was the man that was flirting with her. Oh no. She'd seen this before. Men. Elf men and human men seemed no difference in this aspect. The human thought Saelhil was hurting her, so he was protecting her, but Saelhil was in quite an unusual rage at the moment, and probably wouldn't take well to it. "O-oh, no, I'm fine, it's okay." She really wanted to avoid a fight.
Saelhil's arm immediately tensed when he felt the hand grip it. He turned slowly to face the human, inhaling deeply, and exhaling slowly. He was at least two inches taller than the human, but of course his lack of body mass made him less intimidating. His jaw clenched and the rest of his muscles became rather tense with the small burst of adrenaline his anger had caused. A menacing glare studied the human man, before Saelhil took a breath to speak. "Thank you for your concern, but I do not believe I need your interference." For the first time in a long, long time, Saelhil's voice dropped from its usual cheerful tone into a dark, slow drawl. He ended his sentence with quite an animal-like sneer, before exhaling curtly from his nostrils and looking away for a moment. He had become self-aware, but he couldn't suppress the anger bubbling in his stomach, or how his chest tightened with rage. But, he did suddenly realise how tight his grip was on Raeliel, so he released her anyways.
Raeliel watched the two, nearly expecting Saelhil to break her wrist in his anger. When he let go, she could help put hold her wrist and rub it gently. She had never seen him like this before. The human pulled his hand away from Saelhil when she was released, but still kept a hand on her shoulder. "Obviously you do, if you're so willing to hurt a girl like that. Maybe you should just go on home and cool your little head before you start hittin' her too." With the way he spoke, he obviously meant that Raeliel would not be going home with him. She stared at the human a moment, then carefully pushed his hand off her shoulder. "It's fine, really. I think he just didn't get enough sleep. Really, it's fine. Thank you for your concern." She smiled a little bit, but then looked at Saelhil. "Come on, let's get our horses and go back."
Saelhil let out a slow, shaky breath. I will not take orders from a mere child, speaking so bodly, he wanted to say, but he kept his mouth shut. He tried to gulp down the lump in his throat, and turned away, quietly going back towards where they had the horses. "Stay here if you wish," he murmured quietly. "You wanted to go to the bakery, did you not?" His voice wasn't as dark now, but it was still angry and stiff.
Raeliel blinked. "Oh...right, the fresh bread.." In all the troubles, she had forgotten. But he was already going to the horses. "S..Saelhil?" This certainly was not like him, especially to just leave her there. "It's alright, let him go." the human said. "I'll show you to the bakery. Right this way, m'lady." Raeliel looked at Saelhil worriedly. She didn't understand what was wrong with him. She took in a deep breath and let it out. "Alright...Guess I may as well. We do need some fresh bread." She went to the bakery with the man and chose a nice, fresh loaf of bread. Then she went back to where her horse probably still was. "Are you sure you don't want to stay longer? He might hurt you. I don't know why you're with such a horrible person like him." The man helped her onto her horse. "He's really not that bad," she responded, "Something must be bothering him today. I've never seen him like this. Thank you for all your help.." She gave him a nod, then went to ride back to the house. She was very worried about Saelhil. She got off her horse and came into the house. "...Saelhil? Are you here?"
Saelhil returned to the house, still seething. His horse could feel it, and it was an easy ride. He spent most of his time pacing, trying to figure out--now that he was out of the situation--why on earth he had reacted so... angrily. The man had only been flirting, and rightly so; Raeliel wasn't someone men would just ignore. Saelhil had already realised this, and joked about it to himself. But when it had actually happened...
He looked up from his chair in the sitting room when he heard Raeliel's voice. Reluctantly, he stood. "I am here," he answered. How could he explain himself to Raeliel? He had acted like a dog whose chunk of meat had been threatened by another. His anger towards the human made him no better than a human himself. When he replayed the scene, he cringed, but slowly made his way out of the sitting room. He wasn't looking forward to Raeliel confronting him, and it made his stomach ache with guilt.
