Raeliel set the bread down, looking at him as he came in. There was nothing but worry and concern on her face. "Are you...still hungry?" She turned to face him from a moment. "...are you alright, Saelhil? That..." She sighed softly and looked away, rubbing her wrist a little. "That wasn't like you at all." He had been so angry, so violent. She didn't like it at all. It scared her. With his grip, she realized just how helpless she would be if he did get angry and attack her for some reason. She never thought him capable of it, but now... well, with this sudden angry burst, she had no idea what to think of him anymore.
"Raeliel..." Saelhil clenched his hands into fists, then tried to relax. "I am so sorry." He honestly had nothing else to say to try and explain himself. He knew what he was doing, and he knew he hadn't had enough self-control to keep himself calm. It was such a petty thing to get so angry about. Was she afraid of him now? He hoped not... What had come over him? "I shouldn't have acted like that. I... I would never mean to hurt you." He grimaced; now the scene was playing repeatedly in his mind, showing him how childish he had acted. How could he tell her that it had been mere jealousy that had driven him to such actions? She would be angry with him, and think he was a liar, and believe he had a temper. But it was also more than jealousy... Rage had blinded him. Some memory from long ago was itching at him, but he couldn't pick out exactly what it was. He usually didn't mind humans...
Raeliel tensed up as his hands clenched into fists. She looked at him for a few long moments, listening to his words. She could almost sense the turmoil inside him. She took a step forward and put her hands on his gently. "I was so worried about you..." She looked up at him. "...was it...something I did?" She had no idea what caused such an intense anger inside of him. She was terribly afraid that she had done something to cause it.
Saelhil had been studying the floor, but he looked up when she came closer, touched his hands. How could she blame herself for his actions? "No, no. You did absolutely nothing," he said quickly, not wanting her to think it was her fault. After a few moments of tense pause, he sighed heavily. "There is nothing to explain why I acted as I did. I just... I didn't like that human flirting with you." There, he had said it, plain as day. It was ridiculous. "Again, I am so, so sorry. I have no excuse to have been so...angry."
Raeliel sighed softly in relief when he said it wasn't her. When he admitted what it was, though, she paused and stared at him, and then her cheeks flushed pink. He got so angry about that?? While it was ridiculous, and very immature, it was also...very flattering. She moved in a little closer and let go of his hands, wrapping her arms around him gently. And then she...started to laugh. She couldn't help it! She laughed softly, hiding her face against him. "Sorry, sorry..." She chuckled a little bit, trying to get herself under control. "You were....you were horrid mad, all because someone was flirting with me. I never, ever expected that..." She chuckled.
Saelhil was surprised when she hugged him, then started crying. He rested his hands on her back gently, about to apologise again, but then he realised that she was laughing, not crying. He was confused. Why was she laughing? He had acted so terribly, for such a silly reason! But as she explained herself, he looked down at her, smiling hesitantly. So... He hadn't done something completely wrong after all? He was extremely relieved that he hadn't completely ruined their relationship. "So... You aren't angry with me...?"
Raeliel pulled back a little bit to look at him, getting a bit more serious now, though she was still smiling slightly. "Why would I be angry? Saelhil, I'll admit...you did scare me. And it is a very stupid reason for you to have gotten so angry. But I'm not mad." She let go of him, blushing a little. "Would you still like me to make us breakfast? We have all that fresh food, after all, and I did get a fresh loaf of bread."
"I'm sorry," Saelhil said once more, just to make sure he was getting his point across. But... All seemed well again. At her question of breakfast, he nodded a bit in response. His mind lingered on the subject, though, and he vowed to himself that next time he would not get jealous... or at least, he would try not to act so out of line. As said before, there had been little need for any sort of emotion like that in his childhood. But he tried to push it out of his mind; he couldn't stay feeling guilty about it. He hadn't struck the man, at least.
Raeliel gave a little nod and went to go prepare their eggs and bacon, and to toast pieces of bread a little bit. She was still thinking over his mood, though. He had been so angry just because she'd been flirted with? She found herself blushing again and she shook her head a little. It wouldn't do good to keep getting flustered over every little thing! Once the food was all cooked up, she set it on plates. "Saelhil, breakfast is ready." She had to say she was relieved. She thought their entire morning had been ruined.
Saelhil took the plates and gestured into the dining room. How peculiar... It had actual chairs and a table. Saelhil didn't hesitate to put down the plates and silverware there, gesturing for her to sit while he held out her seat. "What would you like to do today?" he asked, moving on from the subject of his outburst. It was about mid morning, so they still had plenty of time to do whatever they wished.
Raeliel was pleasantly surprised to find the actual chairs and table, and she quietly thanked him as he helped her to her seat. "Hmm...I'm not sure. What do you think we should do?" She started to eat, thinking over their possibilities. "Maybe we could take a walk." She wasn't really wanting to go swimming again. Not after yesterday's 'fun'.
Saelhil nodded, and took the seat across from her. "We could walk down to the cove," he suggested. "Have you been there before?" He doubted it; her village wasn't exactly known for their love of the coast.
Raeliel looked at him. "The cove? No, I've never been there." She wasn't even positive what exactly the cove was, but she didn't tell him that. She kept eating, and when she was finished, she cleared the dishes away. Then, she paused and looked at him. "...why did you get so angry? What did it matter if he was flirting with me?" She wanted to know why that would have spurred him into such anger. Sure, she was his wife. But there had to be more.
"Then we will definitely go there." Saelhil smiled at her, and continued eating, very much enjoying her cooking. Once they were finished and she asked him, he but the inside of his lip. Honestly, he didn't really know. But that wasn't much of an answer. "Well..." He shifted a bit. "I care for you," he said slowly, but he couldn't figure out exactly what he had been feeling at that moment. "I'm sorry, I honestly don't know. He just..." He shook his head. What was he trying to say? "I didn't trust him. It sounds ridiculous, and there was no reason to distrust him. I don't know."
Raeliel listened to him and blushed a little. "..I see. Alright." She looked away and went to get ready to go on their walk. She wasn't sure what she was expecting in the answer. But she hadn't gotten it, because she felt ill at ease. But the thought of the walk made her feel better, at least. Ready to breathe in fresh air and not worry about a human and Saelhil attacking each other.
Saelhil sensed that his answer hadn't been sufficient enough, and it got him to thinking even harder about it. He had to sort out his feelings, as he could have possibly hurt the human, for no reason at all. He sighed heavily and went to wait for Raeliel to be ready.
When Raeliel was ready, she went to meet him and then started walking along with him. The weather was turning out to be lovely, although a little nippy with the wind coming off the cold waters of the ocean. The slight chill caused Raeliel to move a bit closer to Saelhil, taking his arm instead of his hand. Throughout their nights, she was used to unconsciously curling up to him for warmth, and now his warm drew her in again, though subconscious as it was. "The water must be cold today."
"There is probably a storm coming," Saelhil reasoned, looking up at the clear sky. "We should be fine if we get back to the house before sunset, though." He knew a lot about the ocean, and how it shifted and what it meant. It had always been a fascination of his, even though he was afraid of going too far from shore...but no one knew about his fear of travelling by sea. It wasn't really important, anyways.
Raeliel looked at him. "A storm? Hmmm.." That worried her. She wasn't particularly fond of storms. "How far is this cove we are going to, Saelhil?" She looked at him again, then looked around, still close by his side. She enjoyed being by his side, and keeping warm. She would never tell him that, though. It was interesting, for as much as she longed to know his true thoughts and feelings of her, she could not let him in on her true thoughts and feelings of him.
"Only about a half hour each way," Saelhil told her. He pointed. "Those rocky cliffs ahead? That's where we're going." He found himself habitually falling into step with her, as they were linked arm-and-arm. He could feel the chilly breeze, and wondered briefly if he should keep her on the other side of him, as to shield her from the wind... But the sun was warm, and it wasn't too long to the cove. If it got any worse, he would move her out of the direction of the wind.
