Raeliel looked at him and smiled. "Hm? Oh, of course! I guess I just haven't had much to say." She cleaned up his dishes and put everything away. "We had a lot to do this morning, and we had the whole process of coming back home, so I guess my mind has just been busy." She smiled at him to reassure him that she was fine. She had to be fine. Anything but 'fine' and she would be a bother. "Is there anything you need to take care of today, Saelhil?"
Saelhil continued to watch her, not really believing anything she told him. "...no, no. If anything comes up, I'll be fine to do it on my own. Why don't you go relax a bit? I'm going for a walk." Was she acting strange because of the things she had said the night before? About how she couldn't be truthful around him? He shook his head slightly and stood. "Thank you for lunch, though." He headed for the door.
Raeliel blinked. He was going for a walk without her? Fear gripped her heart, but she simply smiled. "Alright. Enjoy your walk." After he left, she went about cleaning the house and making everything neat and tidy. She had to keep herself busy so she wouldn't think about what his lonesome walk might possibly mean. She was too scared. He was already growing tired of her? She shook her head. No. No, she could stop this. She knew what to do. Raeliel got the house cleaned, and then when the sun started to grow low, she made supper. She was, really, a very good wife. She was doing her very best so that everything would be perfect. Leave the matters of the house to the wife, and everything else to the husband. That's how it was. That was what she learned every day of her life.
{Raeliel. You silly little elf. Stop it >:C Gosh you make me so sad ;;}
Saelhil returned around sunset, very tired-looking, a bit sweaty, and with his clothes grass-stained. "Raeliel?" he called out, curious as to where she was. He hadn't seen her outside the house the entire day, and he was a bit worried about her.

(I know, all the feels! Poor gal)
Raeliel was just putting the food on the table. She looked up, gasping a bit when she saw Saelhil! "Saelhil! What in the world happened to you??" She walked over to him, looking over him and his clothes with a soft sigh. "Dinner's ready, but you can't eat when you're so dirty like that. Go start the bath, I'll set out your nightclothes and put the food over the fire to keep it warm." She gently ushered him off to the bath, and then she did just as she said; set his nightclothes out for him to change into once he was clean, then made sure the food stayed warm while he washed up.

{My feeeeels ;;}
Saelhil was going to answer her, but she ushered him off so quickly that he didn't bother. So he just washed himself off, taking care to wash the bruises he had collected along his skin. He changed into his nightclothes and came down, continually running his hands back through his damp hair to keep it out of his face. He hadn't thought he had looked so bad when he came in... Why had she overreacted so much?

(*patpat* Just wait. >3>)
When Saelhil came back down, she put all the food on the table again and sat down. "What happened, Saelhil?" She wasn't used to someone coming back so dirty and sweaty. It was simply not done in her own homeland. She watched him carefully while she ate with him, wondering what possible could have happened to make him so messy! "You were out for a while..." She forced a smile, still trying to play everything off as fine. "I was wondering if you would be back in time for supper. I'm glad you did make it in time."

{I don't know whether that's a good or bad sign... //hides in the corner//}
"I went leaf-walking," Saelhil said simply. "I was challenged to a bit of Foli." He continued eating, but realized she probably didn't know what Foli was. "That is, like a mixed game of tag and keep-away, but while leaf-walking. It's a contact sport, mostly."

(MWahahahahahaa)
Raeliel listened to him. Right. Leaf-walking. No wonder he'd gone alone. She listened as he explained what Foli was. A contact sport? That was so...childish. However, she did not say any of this. Instead, she smiled. "That sounds like fun." She kept eating, and when she was finished, she cleaned up their dishes and washed everything. With their dinner having been delayed by his need for a bath, it was getting a little late now. "Shall we get to bed, Saelhil? Or is there something else you needed to take care of before that?"

{xDD}
"You can go ahead, if you wish," Saelhil said to her offer. "I think I'll stay up for a while." He waved his hand dismissively at her offer to help him with anything else. He was getting more and more confused, and he was unsure about how to act around his wife now. Did she want him to continue as he was, or was she acting like she was in hopes that he would become the stoic kind of husband she had seen in her village? He honestly didn't know what she wanted from him.

Raeliel looked at him for a few moments. Debating. She sat back down, looking at him. "I don't sleep well when you aren't around." she said quietly. The first completely honest thing she'd said to him all day. "Are you alright, Saelhil? You didn't get sick, did you?" She moved over to touch his forehead, feeling to see if he was hot to the touch.
Saelhil's forehead and cheeks were a bit warm, but he kind of just stared at her, confused. "Sick? No. From what?" he asked, shifting a bit uncomfortably.
Raeliel sat down beside him. "...you feel a bit warm, Saelhil." She looked at him, honest worry filling her features. "Are you sure you're feeling alright?" If he said he did, then he did. But he was acting so different, and he did feel a little warm. But maybe he was just naturally a warmer temperature. She didn't know what temperature these wood elves usually were.
Saelhil watched her evenly. "...I'm fine." There, he had lied. He was actually in turmoil, he wanted to scream at her for feeling that she needed to act like someone she wasn't. He had feelings for her, but when she acted... subservient, and too perfect, he felt that she wasn't actually there. She was just... pretending. He didn't want to play her game, but he was realizing that he may have to play in order to get through to her.
Raeliel gently brushed his hair from his face. "..Alright." She looked into his eyes for a few moments, and then she slowly leaned in. Their lips would meet, and this would be a longer kiss than they'd had yet. There was another thing that Raeliel knew she had to do to be the perfect wife, but it usually happened in a bed. However, if he wouldn't go to bed, she would bring the 'bed' to him. The chairs at the table were cushions anyways.
Saelhil was hesitant this time, feeling her kiss him. Heat rushed through his body, heating first his ears, then his cheeks, then even his neck. But... something felt off. It was a long, pleasurable kiss, but it somehow wasn't the same as when they had kissed at the beach house. So when they broke apart briefly, he forced himself to move away, to stand from the cushions. Something definitely wasn't right. It didn't feel the same at all. Yes, it was sensual and his body reacted positively to it, but it just didn't feel as he thought it should.
Raeliel was surprised when he suddenly got up. There was a long silence that followed as Raeliel struggled to keep herself together. She had been rejected. Even if it was something she was doing just to be that perfect wife, it was still rejection. It hurt. It squeezed her heart so tightly that she felt it might burst. She couldn't cry. She couldn't cry, it was a bother. "Goodnight." The word left her lips quickly, as she rose with swiftness from the cushions and rushed past him. She went up to their room, and hurried to bed, hiding her face in the pillow so she could let her tears out in silence. Raeliel had never felt so miserable in her life. She couldn't believe that Saelhil had rejected her. He hadn't even said anything when he rejected her. She didn't know how she could ever face him again. She could only imagine what he thought of her, and none of it was good.
{oh my gosh the feels ;; Good going, Sael. Good going.}
Saelhil reached out as she left. "Wait, Raeli-" But she was gone, his quiet words lost in the thick silence now. Slowly, he retracted his hand back, letting it drop dejectedly to his side. He had blown it, now. He knew he couldn't go to her--he would either receive lies from her, or just silence. His hands trembled a moment, and he closed his eyes tightly. Oh gods... Had she actually been acting out of affection? If she had, he had just completely and utterly turned her away, and after he had responded so readily during their time away from the village. He let out a shaky breath and grabbed his cloak which hung from the knob on the wall near the door, and left. He would return sometime during the night, just an hour or two before dawn. He would lay in bed, silent, back turned to Raeliel, spending another night in confused thought about her. What was he to do...?

(Told yaaa x3)
Raeliel didn't sleep well that night either. When she finally fell asleep from her tears, she had unsettling dreams. Waking up in the middle of the night to find Saelhil not in the house didn't help either. It took a long while for her to fall asleep again. When Saelhil came in, he would find her curled up in the bed, tear stains on her cheeks. She didn't even look happy while she was sleeping. She slept for an hour or so after dawn, then finally started to stir. She sat up quickly, looking over to the other half of the bed. Had he ever come home? When she did indeed find him there, she nearly broke down in tears again. Instead, she quietly got out of bed and went to take a bath. She washed up, dressed, then went downstairs. She made breakfast for herself and ate it, then made breakfast for Saelhil as well and let it sit out on the table for when he came down. She couldn't face him right now. So she left the house. Suffering the gazes on her short hair was not as bad as being around Saelhil right now. She walked through the forest, wandering around. She didn't go far, but far enough away for it to be a place of peace. Then, she sat down on the ground and put her back to a tree. His people were always up in the trees, so she hoped that if she stayed on the ground, she wouldn't be noticed.

(Gotta go eat, I'll be back in a half hourish!)
