Miralin struggled with Saelhil, but managed to roll over onto him. "HEY! Check on your damn wife!! I think her wellbeing is a LITTLE more important right now!" he yelled, trying to fight off the rage of the man. Indeed...Raeliel hadn't moved from where she fell. That might not be a good sign. But Miralin also punched back at Saelhil. "Open your eyes, idiot! She just took something meant for YOU and you think she doesn't love you?! YOU are fighting for HER and she thinks you don't love her?! You two are the most pathetic couple I've ever seen! Get it together!"

Saelhil's eyes went wide as Miralin landed a few good hits. After he shook it off, he shoved Miralin away and scrambled awkwardly to his feet to get to his wife. He knelt beside her. "Raeliel? Raeliel, look at me." His voice, previously vicious, was now trembling a bit with subdued rage as he tried to be gently. He lifted Raeliel's head a bit, watching her face worriedly.

Raeliel stirred as she was touched. "...S...Saelhil..?" She opened her eyes, looking at him for a few long moments. "Y...you're...not hurt...are you?" She reached up and touched his face. "...I'm sorry..." Tears welled up in her eyes. "I'm sorry...." Meanwhile, Miralin had snuck off, his job completed. He didn't want to stick around to get Saelhil's wrath again.

"No, no, no..." Saelhil exhaled softly, gently holding her wrist and kissing her palm. He closed his eyes tightly, now just pressing her hand to his cheek. He had let her get hurt. Not just emotionally, but physically. "It's all my fault... You have nothing to apologize for." A few hot tears escaped his eyes, and his breathing was very shaky.

Raeliel just looked up at him for a few long moments. Then she wrapped her arms around him and held him close. "...I want to go home, Saelhil." She sniffled a little. "Let's go home." She too was crying. The two of them just looked like a mess at that moment. They might get some villagers coming over to see what was going on!

Saelhil hugged her tightly, then kissed her for a few heated moments. He had to make up for how terrible he had been to her. Then he picked her up bridal-style and held her close, avoiding anyone else's gaze, keeping his attention on his wife.

Raeliel was very surprised when she was kissed, but it was a kiss that she returned. She curled up against him as he carried her along, clinging to his shirt. She felt sore from the punch she'd gotten from Miralin. Miralin who was now nowhere to be found. But she wasn't thinking about that, she was focused on Saelhil. She looked at him, watching him, taking everything in about him.

As they walked in the house, Saelhil could feel his skin becoming tender where Miralin had punched him in their little tumble-around. He carried Raeliel into the bedroom and set her down gently, kneeling on the floor beside her and kissing her hand tenderly. "Can I get you anything? A wet cloth? Tea? I can go get some ointment if you're hurting," he offered, watching her.

Raeliel listened to him, nodding a little. "Yeah. All of that sounds really nice." She looked at him, watching as he kissed her hand. "...do you love me?" she asked quietly. She wanted to know. After everything they'd been through, she just had to know. "...why did you save me from him?"

Saelhil looked up at her, then kissed her hand again before standing. "I do, Raeliel." With that, he left to get everything he needed to pamper her, letting her lay there with his words hanging in the air.

Raeliel stared after him as he left. Those words certainly were still hanging in the air. "...well." She gave a soft chuckle. Things had certainly turned out interesting. Their marriage was ruined yesterday, but today it was better than it ever had been.

Saelhil returned a while later, carrying a tray with tea, a damp cloth, and a bottle of ointment. He set the tray on the side table and first took the ointment beginning to gently apply it where he could see some bruising forming. He himself had a few nasty bruises, one along his jaw and one above his right eye, and there seemed to be a bit of a cut on his eyebrow because of the one near his eye. But he didn't seem to notice, as he was focused on helping Raeliel.

Raeliel watched him as he took care of her, taking in a deep breath and letting it out. "...what happened? You're hurt.." She wanted to take care of him, but he was busy taking care of her, so she just sat still for now. "Sael..." She closed her eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything..." So much had gone wrong. So much was because of her. She felt terrible about it. "I'm so sorry."

"I should have known what to do," Saelhil said as he gently dabbed of her skin. "You have nothing to be sorry for." After a bit, he set the cloth aside and began to pour her a cup of tea. "I, ah... I had a bit of a fight with Miralin after he punched you."

Raeliel stared at him. She wasn't happy that he blamed himself, but then when he said he'd fought Miralin... "Y-you should never do that! Never! You can't ever do that again, Saelhil, promise me!" She looked over him with fear. "I-is anything broken? How did you get out??" It wasn't that she didn't believe in his own capability of fighting, but Miralin was a trained expert in fighting. "Sael..." Tears welled up in her eyes again. "You have to promise that you'll never do that again..." She took in a deep breath and let it out, then she touched his cheek so that he was paying full attention to her. "...and you have to promise that you won't ever let me walk out again..."

Saelhil hadn't felt much pain, but it could have been adrenaline still coursing through him. "I don't think anything is broken..." Saelhil watched her, then grimaced a bit at her words. Promise? How could he trust himself to promise anything anymore, now that he had broken his two promises to her in less than a week? He shook his head. "I want to promise you those things," he said softly, "but I don't know if I can promise anything to you. I've already broken my promises that I made after our wedding."

Raeliel felt a twinge of pain. "Stop. Stop it! Don't...don't say that, don't..." She shook her head a little and pushed his hand away. "You have to promise, Sael....just promise you won't let me walk out again..." She looked at him, her eyes getting teary still. "You said you would do anything to make me happy. Was that a lie too, or do you mean it? If you mean it, then promise me that you won't ever let me walk out on you again."

Saelhil couldn't watch her tears. He gulped, then took a breath. "You'll have to promise me something, then, as well," he said slowly, gazing at her steadily.

Raeliel looked at him, curious now. What could he want from her? "Alright. What is it?" She took his hands and held them in hers, looking at him, waiting for this 'condition' of his. She wanted to know what in the world he could possibly want from her. She didn't understand what he thought, so she just couldn't know.

"You can't be perfect," Saelhil said simply. It sounded like a silly statement, but he was very serious. "I don't want you to lie, or act, or anything like that. If something's wrong, just tell me. If you can promise me that, I promise never to let you walk out, and I promise not to get into any more fights."
