"I'm... I'm not sure. It was at the door when I woke up, with no note." Saelhil set out the food--fresh fruit and some slices of meat, presumably fish or bird, as Saelhil's people didn't eat mammals.
Raeliel nodded. "...I see. Well, that was nice." She started to eat once everything was set up and ready, and she watched Saelhil. What would she do if he was called to battle? A couple days ago, she didn't want to be anywhere near him. Now, she couldn't even think of letting him leave. "Saelhil, our time at the beach was wonderful." She wanted him to know that.
Saelhil ate quietly until she spoke, at which he smiled gently at her. "It was wonderful." He watched her for a few moments, studying her features. She truly was gorgeous... How could he have asked for anything else in a wife? She was beautiful, smart, loyal, and brave... Perfect.
Raeliel saw him staring at her, and she blushed. "...do I have something on my face?" She was nervous. Was he staring at her short hair? She touched the tips of her hair gently, self-consciously.
Saelhil was shaken out of his stupor and he quickly shoved a piece of meat in his mouth, looking at his plate. He swallowed it nearly whole, and after coughing for a few moments he quickly shook his head. "No, no. You're fine." He had gotten a bit flustered that she had caught him staring, and the tips of his ears turned pink.
Raeliel got up and patted his back quickly, worried. "Are you okay??" She looked at him for a few moments. "...Are you alright? You should be careful.." She sat down and went back to eating. "So umm...." She blushed. "..what should we do?"
"Really, I'm okay," Saelhil assured her quickly, and ate a piece of fruit more tentatively. "Well..." He paused, thinking. "You need to get some more rest. That medicine is a bit potent, so rest would be best for you. I will stay, of course. Maybe read a book." He smiled shyly at her.
Raeliel looked at him. "...yeah. I guess so." She sighed. She finished eating, then stood up. She didn't feel up to taking care of the dishes. "...Sorry. Could you do the dishes after I fall asleep?" She looked at him apologetically. She felt so battered. She'd never really been hurt physically before, so this was all especially new.
"Of course." Saelhil nodded. "Do you want me to carry you upstairs?" he offered with a smile, standing up and going to her, taking her hand.
Raeliel blushed brightly when he offered that. "Um..." She didn't want to be a burden on him, but she decided that she was supposed to be honest with him. So she looked down, her face flushed. "...yes." She smiled a little bit at him.
Saelhil laughed softly at her shyness, then scooped her up carefully in his arms. He was strong, thanks to his rugged lifestyle, but of course it helped that Raeliel was lithe and light. He kissed her cheek affectionately and carried her upstairs. "My poor princess... Forced to be carried everywhere." He went into the bedroom and lay her down softly, before crawling onto his side and laying beside her.
Raeliel blushed brightly. "Oh yes, such a terrible burden to be held in a prince's strong grasp." She chuckled and leaned against him. It was so nice, to be in his arms. She settled onto the bed and watched as he crawled in after her. She reached over and touched his cheek. "...Saelhil. I love you." She blushed brightly.
"And I love you, Raeliel." Saelhil smiled at her, placing his hand over hers on his cheek. "But you don't have to be so embarrassed," he told her with a gently teasing tone, "we are married, after all."
Raeliel gave a soft laugh. It hurt to laugh, but she couldn't help it. "...I can't help it." She smiled gently. "..yeah..." That just made her cheeks burn brighter, though. "We are married." It was so strange to actually say it.
Saelhil smiled a bit, then kissed her nose. "Now you get to sleep," he told her firmly, but kindly. "I promise I'll be here when you wake up." He reached and tucked her hair behind her ear, bringing his hand around to run along her jaw from her ear to her chin, playfully flirtatious.
Raeliel pouted. "I don't want to sleep." Then he tucked her hair, and ran his hand along her jaw. She blushed brightly, "...will you kiss me?" she asked quietly. She couldn't believe she'd just asked that.
Saelhil blinked, then smiled a bit. Without answering verbally, he leaned forward a bit and kissed her, resting his hand on her waist.
Raeliel was still blushing, and she kissed him back happily. She was really getting to enjoy their kisses. When it ended, she opened her eyes to look at him. She lifted her hand, touched his cheek, and drew him in for yet another kiss. She couldn't help it.
Saelhil eagerly responded with another kiss, letting that one linger a bit longer than their previous ones. After nearly losing Raeliel that day, he didn't dare miss out on showing her affection in every way possible.
Raeliel was rather pleased with the long kiss. She let it go on for as long as they could. It was so nice. She was so glad that she hadn't died. She was still here, with Saelhil. She was still married to him. Still in love with him. For just that moment, everything was wonderful.
