Raeliel depended on Saelhil to get the band together, but spreading the word about the dance had been easy enough. She made especially sure that Talainna knew of the dance, and told all her little friends. Raeliel found herself getting more and more excited. "This is going to be great, Saelhil, it really will be."
"It will be perfect," he agreed. Saelhil was getting very excited as well. "Will you try some of the dances this time?" he asked with a smile. "I'm sure you'll catch on easily."
Raeliel looked at him and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I think I will. It will be a lot of fun." And she didn't have the pressure of getting the dance perfect like she had on their wedding day. That was definitely nice.
"And maybe you can teach the others some new dances, as well." Saelhil smiled a bit. "I'm sure Talainna and some of the other younger girls would love to learn how to dance like princesses."
Raeliel listened to him and giggled. "...Yes, I guess that's true. But to dance like a princess, you need a prince." She walked along with him, smiling. She wondered how lucky she was to have gotten this 'prince'. "...guess our flowers were right, Saelhil." she said suddenly. She looked at him and smiled. "It just took us a little time."
Saelhil watched her speak, then smiled a bit. "Mm, I suppose they were." He stopped her for a moment to give her a lingering, tender kiss. He didn't care that they were in the middle of the street (how scandalous!), and he didn't care who saw. He couldn't help but kiss her, needing to remind her how much he loved her, and remind himself that he couldn't have asked for any better wife.
Raeliel was surprised when they suddenly kissed! She blushed brightly, but returned that sweet, tender kiss. When they parted, her cheeks were flushed. "...well, that's certainly something that would never happen in my home town." She chuckled a little. "Come on...we've still got work to do for tonight, Mr. Romantic."
Saelhil chuckled softly and kissed her forehead before nodding and continuing their walk to make sure everything was ready.
Soon, everything was indeed ready. Then Raeliel made him bathe, and while he did so she would pick out her dress to wear for dancing. One with a flowing skirt, but one that was also very beautiful. She couldn't help but want to look beautiful for Saelhil, wanting to catch his eye.
When Saelhil came out of the bathroom, dressed in his own formal clothes, he was faced was a dressed-up Raeliel. The sight of her made him sigh dreamily; she was just angelic. As he entered the room, he took one of the flowers Talainna had picked that corresponded with Raeliel's dress, and he tucked it into Raeliel's hair. "You look beautiful," Saelhil breathed, smiling lovingly at her.
Raeliel looked over when he came out and she blushed, smiling shyly. When he tucked the flower into her hair, she looked him in the eyes. "..thank you." She looked over him, taking in a soft breath and letting it out. "...you look really nice, Saelhil..." She chuckled. "No bruises or dirt or grass stains." she teased.
"Well that's a new feeling." Saelhil chuckled and kissed her forehead, just because she was acting cute. He tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled at her. "You know I can't let you out of my sight now, don't you? I don't want anyone else trying to dance with you."
Raeliel smiled as he kissed her forehead and she moved a little closer to him. "...maybe that's the point. Maybe I don't want you dancing with anyone else, either." Some voice in the back of her mind whispered 'Mirwen especially', but she ignored it. She was the one with Saelhil, not Mirwen. Mirwen was nothing now, a childhood friend to him. Raeliel leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. Then, after a couple moments, she pulled away. "Come on, we don't want to be late for our own dance."
"You sneaky, sneaky woman." Saelhil smiled, the laughed softly. "Yes, let's get going." However, just as they were exiting the house, one of the scouts that was usually on patrol was just coming up the steps.
"Saelhil, your father wishes to speak with you."
"The letter..." Saelhil nodded to the scout, then looked at Raeliel. "We have one stop before the dance, I suppose." He squeezed her hand, a bit afraid of what his father would tell them, and what Raeliel's father had said in his letter. He led Raeliel to his father's home to find out.

Raeliel was happy as they left the house, but that happiness was dashed upon the rocks with the messenger's arrival. She sighed softly and walked along with him, feeling her heart tighten. What a wretched thing to ruin their night. Raeliel was quiet the entire walk to his father's house, and even when she went inside, she let Saelhil and his father do the talking.
Saelhil and Thortharion spoke briefly, before the chieftain gave them the letter to read.
{I dunno if you want to write e letter/what was in it, since Raeliel's dad is your charrie, so go ahead, if you want x3}

The letter was as follows; 'Kindest Thortharion, If the humans are indeed eager for war, let them taste our blades and arrows. We will gladly fight with you if the humans act recklessly. I suggest a diplomatic approach to find out what their intentions are. Send a small group of elves, along with a goodwill offering of food, and ask what brings their camps into our woods. With luck, it may be a civil war amongst themselves. Please send your swiftest messenger as soon as you uncover their intentions.'
Raeliel sighed. That was her father alright. It was a good plan, though. "...I would suggest sending a couple men in the trees with bows as well. That way, there is back-up in case the humans try something."

Thortharion nodded. "Yes, I have begun speaking with the captain of the scouts. He will choose his best men to accompany the party in the trees. The party will go on foot, or by horse."
"Who will you send, Father?" Saelhil asked, holding Raeliel's hand.
"An elder or two, perhaps. Some young men. I don't want those lusty humans anywhere near the women."
"Afraid the humans might get hurt?" Saelhil smiled a bit, trying to make light of the situation. After a moment, he cleared his throat. "I will go, Father. As your representative... If you will permit me."
Thortharion watched Saelhil skeptically. "I am not sure, seeing how you dealt with that fellow the other day. You may not be the best when faced with confro-"
"I promise I will only speak with them," Saelhil said quickly. "I will have the scouts for protection, so I won't have to defend myself. You always said I am a good negotiator; let me negotiate with them."

Raeliel stared at him when he said he would go. She nearly wanted to hit him. 'Thanks for running that by me, husband dearest' she thought bitterly, but she didn't dare say anything in front of his father. She wanted his father to think their marriage was great, because she was scared he might tell them to split up if he got ideas to the contrary. She said absolutely nothing now, and let the two men discuss it.
Thortharion frowned. "No, Saelhil. I am not sending my own son to negotiate with humans. I will send someone older, who isn't as impulsive."
"But--"
"No, Saelhil. That is final." Thortharion took the letter and folded it neatly. "You will remain here. Do you not realize that you have a wife now? Those humans could easily injure or even kill you." He gestured to Raeliel, then adressed her. "Surely you know better than to let him run off into unknown circumstances. You actually grew up with some common sense." He nodded.
