Raeliel smiled as she was hugged, and she leaned back against him contently. Her smile widened as he kissed her cheek. "Good timing, I just finished breakfast. You can go ahead and eat while I wash up." She nuzzled against him, reluctant to leave his arms, but then she went and got her bath to clean up. Then she changed into fresh clothes and came back downstairs for her own breakfast.

Saelhil chuckled and watched her leave, then sighed a bit and began to eat by himself. He suddenly felt quite alone, even though Raeliel was just upstairs. He hesitated in his eating, but quickly shook his head and continued. She would be back in just a while; nothing would happen to her just a few moments away. And come back she did, and he smiled brightly at her as she joined him. He could smell her perfume from across the table, and his smile widened at the sweet scent. "This breakfast is delicious," he complimented after a moment, chuckling a bit.

Raeliel smiled as he complimented the breakfast. "I'm glad you like it." She ate her own breakfast calmly, watching him often. She loved watching him, taking in everything about him. Most might think it creepy, but Raeliel was just so in love that she wanted to commit everything about him to memory. Especially when things might be getting difficult in the near future.

Once she was finished, Saelhil helped clean up. The glorious morning was to come to an end, though, as Saelhil felt a need to speak with his father about what the outcome of the meeting with the humans had been, or will be, depending on if the chieftain had sent out the party yet. He didn't voice this to Raeliel yet, wanting to keep the quiet peace of the morning in tact for a little while longer.

Raeliel had the same idea in preserving the peace. She cleaned up their dishes with him, and when that was done, she hesitated. She took Saelhil's hands and held them, turning to face him. She didn't want war to happen. She didn't want to lose Saelhil. She closed her eyes and leaned in, kissing him deeply. Who knew when their next opportunity to be together would be? Depending on the news from his father, this might be the last few minutes of peace that they'll be able to have for a while.

Saelhil squeezed her hands tightly, and responded to her kiss longingly. He let the kiss go on for a while, until they had to part. It seemed Raeliel was aware of what had to be done, as well. So when they parted, he kissed her forehead. "I love you, Raeliel," he told her quietly, smiling sadly at her. He was sad because he was worried about what was to come.

Raeliel could barely stand it as they parted and he spoke to her. "I love you too, Saelhil." She hugged him tightly, hiding her face against him. "...don't go yet. Please. Please. Just...let him send for us. I just need to be with you right now, just for as long as we can.... Please.." She pulled away a little so that she could lean in and kiss him. It was a pleading kiss, but a kiss that was meant to get him to stay with her for even just a little while longer.

Saelhil's heart nearly shattered, seeing her so desperate and pleading. Her kiss showed her emotions even more intensely, and he returned her affection as his answer that he would stay. He pulled her close, keeping her tightly against him. He didn't want to go, either, but war wouldn't wait, that he knew.

Raeliel wrapped her arms around him, and would kiss him as many times as he allowed, as long as they both could manage. It broke her heart to think that this just might be the last time they would be together. She stayed close to him, holding him in her arms, tightly, as if that would keep him with her. As if that would keep him from going off to war.

Saelhil continued to kiss her for a long while, but eventually a knock interrupted them. He tried to ignore it, and continue kissing his wife, but the knocking was persistent, and he had to pause. "Just a moment!" he called out. He kept his gaze on Raeliel, sighing.

Raeliel kissed him back as the fist rapped on the door, but when he had to pause, she sighed as well. "..go ahead.." She held him tightly and hid her face in his shoulder. She felt like crying. They didn't even know the outcome of things and she already felt like crying. She took in a deep breath and pulled away from him completely, trying to be strong for him.

Saelhil took a breath, then nodded. "I'll be back soon," he promised, reluctantly moving away when the door was knocked on again. He swiftly left with the scout to head for his father's house.

Raeliel watched him leave, and then sat down. She felt so alone. So defeated, so forlorn. She waited, right where he had left her, waiting for him to come back with the news. Her heart was wrenched up, waiting, nervous, anxious. She had to know what was happening.

Saelhil returned after a long while, nearly an hour. He walked slowly up to the house, and opened the door quietly. The blank expression on his face gave away what the outcome had been, the slight crease in his brow adding a touch of worry to his countenance.

Raeliel felt her heart drop when he came in with that expression. She got to her feet and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him and hiding her face in his shoulder. She couldn't stop the tears this time. She couldn't. She held onto him and cried softly, wishing that she could keep him from the battle, keep him from the war.

Saelhil held her tightly, closing his eyes. He couldn't believe the humans were waging war on them. For what reason? Who knew; they were humans, and did not need reasons to do things. But he didn't say a word, only held her, rocking slightly as he tried to comfort Raeliel... and himself.

Raeliel couldn't believe it was happening. War. She cried for a few minutes, then managed to get herself under control and pulled away. She looked at him, taking in a deep breath and letting it out. "I have to speak to your father. I have some strategies that may come in handy for battle." She knew how both teams of elves fought, after all. She could offer some valuable advice.

Saelhil watched her, then nodded. "He's making plans as we speak, so now would be a good time to speak with him," he said quietly. He offered Raeliel his hand, taking a breath.

Raeliel took his hand and walked with him to see his father. Once they entered the house and went to him, she looked at him solemnly. "Sir, I have some advice I would like to give you as to how we should carry out the battles with our joined forces." She went to sit down if he allowed, and spoke if he allowed. "Your people fight in the trees. My people fight on the ground. Yours with bow and arrow, mine with sword and shield. My people can come from the ground, attacking from the level of the humans. Your people can surround them in the trees and rain down arrows. My people must wear helmets and armor, so that the arrows will not hurt our own. But the humans will not be expecting arrows from above. They will be far too pre-occupied from the fight happening on the ground. It is all they have ever known, fighting on the ground with their own people, so that is what they will expect from us."

Thortharion listened quietly, nodding as she spoke. "Yes, indeed," he agreed. He glanced at the scout captain that was also in the room. "Have the other scouts begin to brief the others on how we will move out the attack. I want a bow in every able and willing hand." The captain nodded, and swiftly left to make it so.

Saelhil, meanwhile, was just sitting there quietly, listening to all the goings-on.
