Raeliel felt the tears in her eyes again as he pulled away, and she pulled him in for one last, long kiss. Then, she let him go. She got to her feet, her legs shaky from the turmoil within her, and she slowly got her clothes on. She felt filled with despair. She dressed, brushed her hair, and got herself ready. She had to be sure to take care of the children and the elderly. A job that sickened her because it meant staying home while others were fighting, but a job she knew was very important. Still...it was away from Saelhil, and that was already painful.
Saelhil watched her for a few moments, then got dressed as well, this time in clothes that would allow easy movement. He reached out of habit for something to pull his hair back with, but hesitated and reclined his hand, remembering that he wouldn't need a hair tie for another few months, if not a year or so. He went to the closet and pulled out a bow and quiver of arrows, wrapped in linen. From the quiver he pulled out a glove and slipped it onto his left hand; it also had a wrist guard, so it protected his entire lower arm and hand from being thwapped by the string of his bow. He quietly strapped on the quiver over his shoulder and gripped his bow for a few moments. His legs wouldn't let him move, wouldn't let him leave Raeliel's side.
Raeliel glanced at him as she heard his movement, and stared at the man her husband was. Saelhil the warrior. She didn't know how to take it. Part of her was so very proud of him, the other part cried out for him to put it all away. She stared at him, noticing that he wasn't able to move. So she sacrificed herself for him, and turned, leaving the bedroom. Her feet felt like lead weights but she managed to leave the room, going into the bathing room and closing the door behind her. She leaned back against the door as the tears spilled down her cheeks. She waited, waited to hear his footsteps so she could go out and watch him through the window as he left.

Saelhil watched her leave. He gulped a bit, but forced his legs to move. He hesitated at the top of the stairs, then left the house, sure that if he stayed a moment longer that he would never leave. And so he went to join the others that were preparing to fight, trying to keep his mind off of his dear Raeliel.
(Last post for the night, I'll post tomorrow morning before classes )
Raeliel hurried out of the bathing room when she heard him go down the stairs, and she watched from the window as he walked off to join the others. Her lips parted to cry out his name, but all that came was a strangled sob. She fell to her knees and hid her face in her hands, unable to watch his back as he left. It was worse pain than she had ever felt in her life. Worse than all their struggles before this.

{Alright! Night~}
As they began to filter out into the forest to train, Saelhil glanced back at the house. He felt his eyes sting with threatening tears, but he quickly looked away. He wouldn't leave her. He promised he would return, and no matter what happened out on the battlefield, he would find a way to come home to her, no matter the costs.

Raeliel cried for a while. When she finally was able to get herself under control, however, she got up and washed her face. She had a duty. She went and gathered all the children and elderly, distributing them between a few close houses so they were all together. She learned of all the safe places in the village and in the forest should the attack come into the village itself, and helped to prepare and gather food for the coming days of war. It would be very dangerous to go out and get anything from the forest around them, so it was best to gather now, and preserve.
It wasn't until late that night that Saelhil returned. Those who were going off for war could spend one more night in the village before they would have to leave in the morning, and so he was a bit torn with his feelings. He had one more night with Raeliel, but the day after... He wouldn't be promised ever to see her again.
Raeliel had dinner on the table when he returned. She had gone the extra mile to make a wonderful last meal for him. "Hey...welcome home." She went right over and hugged him, holding him in her arms.
"Hey..." Saelhil hugged her tightly, yearning for her warmth. He inhaled her scent, then reluctantly pulled away, holding her hand as he went to sit at the table. "I saw that everyone is starting to gather in the safe houses," he mentioned. "You did well today in organising them." He smiled weakly at her.
Raeliel took in a deep breath and let it in. "Thank you, I'm glad you think so." She sat down right beside him and let him start eating. She wanted to be close to him.
Saelhil ate quietly, often leaning over to kiss Raeliel. It was a solemn meal, though delicious. He ended up pulling her close after they were finished, his arm wrapped tightly around her waist. He had no words to express how he felt at the moment.
Raeliel returned every kiss, though it made her heart heavy to do so. Tomorrow, he would be off to war. She didn't have much of an appetite, but she ate anyways. When she was pulled into his arms, she hugged him close. How should she act, with this pain weighing over them?
After a long time, Saelhil kissed Raeliel's cheek once more before moving to begin cleaning up. He did so solemnly, quietly. He was just as worried and sorrowful as she was...
Raeliel helped him with the dishes. The silence was sickening. Was this really how they were going to spend their last night together? Not even talking? When everything was put away, Raeliel took his hand and sat down with him. "Tell me about yourself. What would our life be like in you eyes if things were perfect? Describe it to me." She wanted to know.
"If things were perfect?" Saelhil paused, and squeezed her hand. "I don't know... It would be like last night." He had been so troubled with the war that he hadn't given much thought to the alternative life. "It would be like when we were at the villa on the coast." He leaned over to kiss her forehead.
(On for a bit!)
Raeliel listened to him, holding his hand. "Tell me more. What would it be like? You would be the chieftain, wouldn't you? What would a day be like in a perfect life, Saelhil?" She smiled softly as he kissed her forehead. "It would start with waking up in each others arms, if our perfect lives are any similar."

Saelhil chuckled. "Yes, it would. We would wake up in each others arms and stay in bed for as long as we like... Maybe have someone make us breakfast." He smiled a bit. "I would be chieftain... And the villages would be at peace. I would get you a bunch of mirrors and your own bathroom, so that you can just stand and admire yourself." He nuzzled her cheek. "I don't know what daily life would be... Every day would be exciting, that's for sure. And we wouldn't get injured so often, of course. We could go to the beach a lot, take a break from village life. And perhaps you would even learn how to leaf-walk with me." Saelhil chuckled a bit and hugged her close, leaning back.
