Saelhil shook his head. He couldn't believe how little she knew. "The entwining happens in a part of the woods that only those blessed by the elders go into. I am not sure if I believe the curse, but it is part of our tradition, so I have never been there. The Sacred Place is said to have magic surrounding it... You and I will have to find a place to plant the seeds the elders give us, and if we are meant to be, then the flowers will grow entwined with one another." He took a breath. "The Glow symbolizes the dragons that were said to once roam these lands. The dragons had unique markings, and when a dragon found another with similar markings, they would become mates... At least, that is what legend says."
Raeliel listened to him. "Oh...I see. That's very interesting..." Plenty of legend behind this land. Flowers growing intertwined? "...What happens if they don't?" Would that cancel the marriage and all of the alliance? She certainly hoped not. "I never knew your people were so into this sort of...predestination." In her village, their own people decided who they married.
"I... I am not sure. It has never happened in my lifetime, and our marriage has special circumstances. I wonder if we will bypass it..." Saelhil trailed off thoughtfully, then shook his head slightly. "My people have a rich culture. It isn't predestination. It is approval. Be it approval from the gods, nature, or magic, it does not matter. I personally am not sure which I believe more in." He shrugged.
Raeliel listened to him. "Hm...it's interesting. Very interesting. I wonder what will happen because of our circumstances." But maybe they wouldn't have to worry about that. Unlikely, though. He was probably meant to be with that girl he was going to marry. Thinking about it again pulled her spirits down. She was ruining two lives with this marriage.
"It will be interesting, to say the least." Saelhil took a deep breath as they entered the village. "Here we are." He led her to the house so he could put away his bag. "What are you planning on doing today?" he asked her.
Raeliel followed him to the house. "I...honestly don't know. I guess get to know the town some more and get ready for the ceremony. It starts tomorrow morning, right? I should probably go to bed early tonight then." But she still had the whole day to do things, though she had no clue what to do.
"Oh, and during the ceremony..." Saelhil hesitated. "I will have to kiss you. My apologies if that will offend you but it is traditional to end the vows with a kiss." He smoothed back his hair.
Raeliel listened to him mention the kiss, giving a nod. "It is alright, I understand. That is the same in my village as well." She took in a deep breath and let it out, then glanced at him. "...will she be there? The girl that you love." Would he still see her on the side? Did this village have concubines or anything of that sort?
Saelhil felt himself tense up slightly at the mention of her. "Yes, most likely. The entire village celebrates together, be it for birth or marriage or anything else." He sighed heavily, then managed a sad smile. "Why do you ask?"
Raeliel looked away. "...no reason." She was surprised he was going through with this. She half-expected either him or the girl to bust into the wedding and declare each other's love. "What do you think I should do for the day, Saelhil?" Better to get that topic changed. She shouldn't have brought it up in the first place. Maybe she was just a little...jealous. She hadn't been attached to anyone. Ever.
"Well... Perhaps you should make yourself familiar with the village, and the forest. Many people were out hunting for the day, and they should be here today for you to meet, if you wish." Saelhil watched her for a few moments. "Or perhaps get yourself some clothes that you won't feel bad dirtying... Do you know how to mend?"
Raeliel looked at him. "...of course not. That's what tailors are for, Saelhil." Why should she need to know how to mend? "Getting to know some people would be nice. I've only met you and your family, and it'd be nice to meet some others if I'm going to be marrying you." She looked around, taking in the scene around them to try and think where she should start.
Saelhil shrugged slightly. "Come on, then. Everyone should be waking up by now." He left the house and glanced around, searching for anyone wandering around the village.
Raeliel followed him out. "Oh, and...at the mention of clothes, I suppose I probably should. I never did much at my old village that would require me getting dirty, so it might be nice to get some....less fancy clothes than I have now." She looked around the village. At least he was going to help her meet new people.
Saelhil nodded. "We will get you some, then." He led her along, and spotted two young boys--seemingly twins--running out of their home. He smiled. "Good morning!" he called to them. They both turned at the greeting, and grinned widely.
"Saelhil!" they chorused, coming and nearly tackling him. They both peered at Raeliel curiously. "Who's that?" One asked.
"This is my fiancé, Lady Raeliel. From the village to the north." Saelhil gestured to her. "Now, where is your mother?"
"Mama? She's helping Papa. She should be coming out to hang the clothes out soon. Why?" After the other twin stopped speaking, they both blinked.
"I need to speak with her." Saelhil nodded, and they both shrugged and kind of ran off.

Raeliel walked with him and watched as the boys ran out of the home. She was surprised at their excitement to see Saelhil, but took it as a good sign; his people loved him. When he introduced her, she smiled and waved slightly to them. Then the conversation was quickly over and they were gone. "Who is their mother, Saelhil?" Was she someone he wanted to introduce her to?
"She's a tailor, for one." Saelhil nodded, and headed towards the house. "Her husband leads the hunting party. She also teaches a few of the girls of the village how to sew, should they wish to learn." He knocked at the door.
Raeliel nodded slightly. That made sense. She stood by the door with him, but thought over his words. "...you mean you're going to have her teach me? But if she's a tailor, then it's her job to sew things, not mine." She couldn't figure out why this culture had that belief that everyone had to know everything! She'd grown up with having other people do things for her, since it was their trade.
"Hm? No, I am not." Saelhil blinked in surprise. "I--"
"Saelhil? What are you doing here so early?" A woman had opened the door. She tucked some hair behind her ear, then saw Raeliel. "Ah, you must be Lady Raeliel. Welcome to our village. I am Nosaralda, but please, call me Ralda. Everyone does." She smiled and dipped her head in greeting to them.

Raeliel was relieved that she wasn't going to be taught. When the woman opened the door, she smiled. "Good morning, Miss Ralda. It's a pleasure to meet you." She let Saelhil talk about why they were there, just watching for now. The lady seemed quite nice, though she was surprised. Even the mother addressed Saelhil with no title. He must not like them.
