Raeliel felt herself becoming rather stressed as well. The two of them were dangerously close to a fight, not a battle against humans but an argument against each other. She quietly walked outside with him, letting him get some fresh air. Why did it have to be so hard sometimes to have a relationship with him? To be married? She sighed softly.
After a little while of being outside, Saelhil glanced at Raeliel and sighed. "...I'm sorry," he said softly. "I'm just so worried about this war." He reached over and grasped Raeliel's hand, offering a weak smile.
Raeliel looked over, smiling softly and holding his hand. "...It's okay. I'm sorry too, Saelhil." She kissed his cheek. She took in a deep breath and let it out. "How are you doing? Do you feel any better?" She looked at him worriedly.
Saelhil nodded. "Mm, I am." He walked close to her, eyes out on the forest. He wondered quietly how everyone was faring, and how his father was. Those humans weren't very smart, but they were relentless and persistent... He was sure that his people would be okay, though.
Raeliel noticed his distraction, how he was worried. "...we can send a scout to get word from the battle lines if you want." She looked at him, then looked around. "If it would ease your mind."
Saelhil glanced at her, then shook his head. "No, no, it's fine." He gently kissed her cheek. "There's really no need for me to be worried. Everyone will be fine."
Raeliel gave a little nod. "Alright." She smiled when he kissed her cheek, then turned to go back inside. She didn't want to risk being out for too long, though she doubted the battle would reach them. It was still so far off. "I love you, Saelhil."
"I love you too." Saelhil smiled gently at her. Hopefully word would be sent back soon, but he wouldn't try to get in contact with his father; if anything bad happened, word would be sent back to the village. As long as there was no news, they had to be fine.
Raeliel went inside with him, and gave him a chore to occupy himself. She herself had to go around and check on everyone. She paused after her rounds. Something didn't quite feel right. Maybe it was just her being worried, but still. "Valenthion?" That was it. That was the one person she hadn't seen. "Valenthion?"
Talainna was just running by with a group of other children, and she looked up at Raeliel curiously. "You're looking for Valen?" she asked. "I think he went to sit out on the front porch sometime after lunch."
Raeliel smiled softly. "Thank you, Talainna." She gave a soft sigh of relief and went to go see if he was still out on the front porch. She just wanted to make sure he was safe. He, above all others, was most vulnerable. She wanted to protect him.
Valenthion wasn't sitting on the porch, but he was still in sight. The boy was tapping his stick along as he walked down the street, keeping close to the houses. He was counting the steps, seeing how big the village was, trying to get his bearings on wear exactly he was.
Raeliel did not speak when she saw him. She was quiet, she just watched him for now. She was just making sure he was alright. For now, she would watch, to make sure that he wouldn't accidentally wander out of the village. She didn't want that to happen, and with him, it possibly could. So she watched for now.
Valenthion continued walking. He made sort of rhythmic taps on the ground or on the wood porches, pausing when his staff didn't hit the next porch. The edge of the village? He stayed there for a while, just staring out into the forest. He took a step, hesitated, then began back, again counting his steps. He walked steadily, making sure his steps were roughly the same each time.
Raeliel was amazed as she watched him. He was so good with that. He knew just what he was doing. It was amazing. She smiled softly, watching him as he came back towards the inside of the village. She didn't say anything yet, not wanting to distract him or startle him.
Valenthion was soon back at the house. He climbed up the porch steps easily, always tapping the step in front of him. He really was good at moving around now with his staff.
Raeliel cleared her throat a little bit. Then, she smiled. "Hey, Valenthion. How are you doing?" She watched him, ready to move to catch him in case she startled him off-balance or something.
Valenthion jumped a bit, but didn't overreact. He glanced at her. "Raeliel? I'm fine. Just exploring a bit." He gripped his staff tightly.
Raeliel smiled. "Oh, neat. Having a good time? Sorry, I was just doing rounds to make sure everyone was here and alright, so I thought I'd say hi." She looked around, then back to him. "Is the staff working well? Does it need adjusted at all?"
"It's working fine, thanks." Valenthion glanced down at his staff. "No. It's fine." He wasn't used to being checked up on so much, and it felt a little weird. Why did she care so much?
