Raeliel knit her brow together. "Surely there's something you can do. Come on, let's think. You can use your senses for many things instead of your eyes, Valenthion. How about a game of hide and seek? You can do that without seeing, can't you? The hiding part at least. The seeking part you'd probably be able to do too, using your senses." She tapped his ear and nose lightly with her fingertip. "You can find anyone with your senses once you start to recognize the noises they make and what they smell like. Take Saelhil, for instance. He always has some kind of scent, mostly citrus, that he is wearing. So if you smell someone walk by and they smell like citrus, then you can probably bet that it's Saelhil."

"Hide and seek? Where? In the house?" Valenthion blinked in slight surprise, then moved a bit. "...yes, I suppose I could try." He was a bit nervous about it, but it woul drive him something to do for now.

Raeliel smiled. "Yes, in the house! It'll be fun, come on. Which do you want to do first, hide, or seek?" She would let him have the choice.

(I gotta go eat and go to work, won't be responding for about 3 hrs)

"I'll hide first." Valenthion stood. "Are we starting now?" He moved slightly towRds the door, ready to go hide.

Raeliel smiled and nodded. "Yep, go ahead!" She closed her eyes and started counting. She was rather excited to play this game with him.

Valenthion kind of just darted off, moving rather quickly. He immediately found his hiding spot--inside a trunk upstairs. There was a bit of a crack on the back of it, so he would have pl,entry of air.

Raeliel finished counting and looked around. Where could he hide? He must have known some places to be. She crept around, looking under tables and beds, behind chairs, and such. She couldn't find him! "Wow...you've got a good hiding place, kid." She chuckled a bit, continuing to look around the house.

Valenthion shifted a bit, getting a bit cramped inside the chest. There were blankets stored there, but he was a bit too tall to be curled up in the short chest. He risked opening the lid a bit, listening for any signs of his seeker.

Raeliel kept searching a little bit about, and she heard the slight click of something opening. She hurried into a new room and looked around. It didn't seem like anyone was there. And then, she spotted...a trunk. Would it fit him? Perhaps! She went over and carefully opened the lid, then grinned. "Found you! Wow, that was really clever, Valenthion! It took me a while to find you."

"I'm glad you found me... I was getting a bit cramped." Valenthion smiled a bit at her. It had been a while since he had had someone to play with; Raeliel really was turning out to be someone he liked a lot.

Raeliel helped him out, laughing softly. "Clever hiding place, though. Clever indeed! Do you want to take a turn at seeking, now? Just to try it?" She wanted to train him to use his senses, to be able to navigate more by his senses than by his staff.

"Thanks." Valenthion smiled a bit more, then nodded. "Yeah, I'll try it. Do I have to cover my ears while I count, or can I keep listening to you move around?"

Raeliel smiled. "You can start with your ears uncovered, but the more we play, the more I'll make you cover your ears." She smiled and hurried off as he started counting. She picked a fairly 'easy' place for now; she climbed onto a bed, as quietly as she could (though it still made noise of course), and covered herself with the blanket. She left her face uncovered though, to perhaps help in the whole 'scent' area.

Valenthion nodded and began to count. When he finished, he went down the hall he had heard her steps go, and began searching the rooms. Of course, he couldn't find her right away, but he soon got to the room she was in, and paused, staying very still so that he could listen, and perhaps smell Raeliel's perfume. He sniffed slightly, and noticed the flowery scent, so he slowly walked forward until his staff touched the bottom of the bed. He tapped it again, then smiled a bit. The wooden frame of the bed was too strained to not have someone on it. "Found you," he said with a smile.

Raeliel sat up and grinned. "Great job!" She ruffled his hair playfully. "See? You can do it! Want to go another round, or should we do something else for now?" She glanced out the window to try and figure out when their next meal would be. "You're pretty good at this, Valenthion!"

Valenthion grinned when she ruffled his hair (which was also growing longer; humans had their hair so short!). "I'm kind of hungry. Can we play more after lunch?"

Raeliel smiled gently. "Absolutely, Valenthion. Come on, let's go." She walked with him to the dining area, then got him something to eat and helped him with getting started with eating it. She sent someone to fetch Saelhil and make sure the man came to join them for lunch. He probably hadn't eaten yet either.

Saelhil was just coming back from look-out, and there was no new news to bring, so he greeted Raeliel with a kiss. "How are things going? No disasters while I was away?" He smiled gently at her, getting some food to soothe his growling stomach.

Raeliel kissed him back happily. "None whatsoever. Things are great. Valenthion and I were playing hide and seek, a game which he is actually quite talented in!" She let him have a chance to eat, and continued eating as well.

"Is that so?" Saelhil looked over at Valenthion, smiling. "You're good at hide and seek? Hopefully you'll get comfortable enough in the woods that you can play with the others once the war is over."

Valenthion glanced at him, smiling a little, nodding in hopeful agreement.
