(I read it somewhere, can't remember where lol.)
Raeliel snagged the boy before he ran off. "Valenthion, I would like you to apologize too, please. Even if they say horrible things, it is never a reason for a fight. Please apologize." She kept a hold of both boys until he did, then let the other one go.

"I'm sorry," Valenthion murmured, then listened to the other boy run off. He then took a breath. "You're going to adopt me...?" His voice was quiet, as if he didn't quite believe her, as if he were afraid to affirm what she had said.
Raeliel smiled at him. "..yes. We were going to tell you later, sorry..."(class)
"You and Saelhil?" Valenthion was quiet for a few moments, seeming to mull over this new piece of information. "...I'd really like that." A family. Parents. Parents who wouldn't leave him at the first sign of trouble.
Raeliel smiled gently. "..good. We were going to try to wait until you were settled in some more, but the situation called for it." She sighed slightly. Saelhil might be mad at her for jumping the gun with this one. With a crowd full of kids, there was no doubt that word was going to spread quickly that they were adopting Valenthion. Raeliel pulled him into her arms and held him gently. "Don't worry, Valenthion. Sooner or later, everyone will start to recognize you as family. Talainna already does. Some others just need convincing." She took his hand and gave him his staff. "Come on, let's get your eye taken care of. You've got a bruise coming."
Valenthion smiled weakly, and nodded. He followed her quietly, trusting her enough not to have to use his staff as she led him. "So would that make Talainna my... aunt?" he questioned. "...how old is she, anyways? She acts younger than me."
Raeliel laughed softly. "It technically would, but you can just call her your sister or your cousin." She shrugged slightly. "I'm really not sure, I never asked. She's young, for an elf. We see and feel time much differently than humans, as you've probably noticed." She sat him down and treated his bruise with some ointment, having sent someone to go fetch Saelhil for her if he wasn't busy. She looked over Valenthion for any other cuts or bruises, and would treat them as well. "Did you learn your lesson, Valenthion?" she asked calmly. She certainly wasn't going to advocate starting fights.
Valenthion nodded slightly, listening. "...I'm sorry. I'm used to fighting in my village." He let her treat him; he wasn't that beat up, just a few other bruises and a cut or two.
Raeliel sighed softly. "..I understand. But fighting isn't very nice." She kissed his forehead gently and held him. "I'm not going to punish you or anything. You have to learn these things. Next time someone says something mean to you, come to Saelhil or I. Saelhil's father is chieftain, and now that we've declared you our son, then they can get in trouble for being mean to the chieftain's grandson. Alright? So instead of fighting, just come to us."
"Chieftain? Like a mayor?" Of course, Valenthion spoke of the men who ruled human villages, the mayors, who were lords who controlled and organized the towns. He was impressed, though. He was the chieftain's grandson!
Raeliel smiled. "Yes, like a mayor." She pet his head gently and looked around, sighing. "Where did Saelhil get to? Like I said, we weren't supposed to tell you until later, so I need to let him know that I let the cat out of the bag..." She hugged Valenthion gently. "..I'm glad you're okay with it, though. You weren't so happy the first few days, so we wanted to give you time to settle in before we asked."
Soon, Saelhil came. He went to Raeliel and kissed her cheek, then saw Valenthion. "Goodness... What happened to you?" He scruffed Valenthion's hair playfully. "I'm gone for half an hour and you get yourself beaten and bruised." Valenthion smiled weakly in response, deciding Raeliel should explain.
Raeliel smiled a little. "Hey. He got in a fight with one of the other boys, who said something not nice to Valenthion." She rubbed her neck. "I uh...I kind of let the cat out of the bag and said in front of all the kids that we were going to adopt Valenthion..." She cleared her throat slightly and looked away. No doubt the news was already being spread throughout the elderly.
Saelhil blinked. "Well that's fine, isn't it?" He glanced down at Valenthion. "Do you want us to be your parents?"
Valenthion nodded slightly. "I'd really like that, yeah."
"Then I don't see any problem." Saelhil smiled.
Valenthion nodded slightly. "I'd really like that, yeah."
"Then I don't see any problem." Saelhil smiled.
Raeliel smiled a bit, relieved that he wasn't angry. She held Valenthion close, snuggling him happily. "Alright. Guess we'll do what we can to make it official here, right, Saelhil?" He'd probably know more about that than she would. "Do you want to go back to the other kids or go get something to eat, Valenthion?"
"Mm." Saelhil smiled at her. Valenthion smiled a bit, kind of liking being snuggled.
"I'm sort of hungry." He looked up at Raeliel, eyes gazing blindly up towards her voice. He was smiling a bit, though, and so he looked quite happy.

Raeliel brushed his hair from his face a little and smiled. "Alright. Let's go get something to eat." She took a couple steps to give Saelhil a kiss, then she went to take Valenthion to get some food. "Want to join us, Saelhil, or did you already eat?"
"I think I will join you." Saelhil smiled a bit and followed them. He gripped Valenthion's shoulder for a moment to tell the boy he was beside him, then walked along with him. He leaned down slightly. "You didn't whack the other boy with your staff, did you?"
"...well..." Valenthion smiled sheepishly. "I did, once. I think I got his nose, because I heard him yelp pretty badly. But someone took it from me."
Saelhil sighed and ruffled Valenthion's hair. "Just save that resourcefulness for if the village is attacked, yes?"
"Yeah."

Raeliel rolled her eyes a little. "When I came in, I found them both tussling on the ground. I was ready to whack them both with my hand." She frowned a bit. She didn't like fighting, especially if it meant her newly adopted son getting hurt. She pet his head gently. "You're okay, right? Nothing else hurts?" She felt like she'd gotten everything, but she wanted to make absolutely certain.
"I'm fine, Raeliel," Valenthion assured her, glancing up at her. Was he supposed to call her mother? He wasn't sure he was comfortable with calling Saelhil father; he was nothing like Valenthion's human father. But what else would he call them?
