Raeliel chuckled a little. "Okay, okay. Sorry. I worry. This family has a tendency of getting hurt, I don't really want you to adapt that part of us." She chuckled and smiled at Sael, kissing him softly before they would reach the kitchen. Once they did reach the kitchen, she got them all some food.

Saelhil chuckled a bit. "And no more fighting any other villagers, you hear?" He clapped Valenthion's shoulder and led the boy to the table to sit down. "You know, Raeliel is the best cook. Once this war is over, we'll have her delicious food all to ourselves." This made the boy smile, and chuckle a bit.
Raeliel laughed softly. "You guys flatter me way too much." She smiled and sat down, helping Valenthion start with his food. She was glad that Valenthion wanted to be their family. It made her so relieved, she'd been quite worried that he would have rejected them.
"Well why shouldn't we? You're amazing at everything... Not to mention brave and beautiful." Saelhil laughed quietly, kissing her cheek as she sat down. Valenthion nibbled on his food thoughtfully, before glancing towards where he sensed Raeliel sit down.
"Raeliel..." he began slowly. "...what do you look like?"
"Raeliel..." he began slowly. "...what do you look like?"
Raeliel laughed softly and blushed, smiling as her cheek was kissed. When he asked that question, she looked at the boy. "Huh? Oh, well...I have pale skin, I'm rather slender. I have pointed ears and blonde hair that's past my shoulders. Ummm..." She felt weird, describing herself. "What kind of things can I say to help you get a better picture in your mind of me?"
Saelhil watched Valenthion, then posed a question. "...Valenthion, have you always been blind?"
Valenthion glanced at him, then shook his head. "I lost my sight a few years ago," he explained.
Saelhil nodded, and took Raeliel's description upon himself. "Raeliel is more beautiful than any human woman you could imagine. Her face is perfectly smooth with a gentle, sloping jawline, wide green eyes like summer leaves, and a cute little nose, turned up just slightly at the end. Her hair is short now, just at her shoulderblades, but usually it goes past her waist in a golden waterfall. It is smooth and silky to the touch, and perfectly straight with just the slightest curl at the end. She's just a bit taller than most human women, but much more lithe and with a gentler waist--not like the corsets human women wear--with fairer, softer skin. Her frame is small and looks frail and delicate, but she is actually very tough, and she can take a beating." He chuckled. "Is that good enough, Valenthion?"
Valenthion glanced at him, then shook his head. "I lost my sight a few years ago," he explained.

Raeliel stared at Saelhil as he described her and her face flushed brightly. "S-Saelhil!" She was so flustered at the way he had described her! She hid her face against his shoulder. "You love embarrassing me." she mumbled. "...I love you." She peeked out at Valenthion. She was still flustered, but she wondered what he would say at the detailed (and certainly romanticized, in her opinion) description.
Saelhil laughed, wrapping his arm around her and kissing her cheek. "I'm only speaking the truth," he said in a teasing tone. Valenthion, meanwhile, was smiling slightly.
"I can picture you perfectly," he said with a small chuckle. "Even if Saelhil's lying, I would like to keep this picture in my mind, so don't tell me the truth."

Raeliel chuckled a bit and smiled. "Well...he made it fancy, but I guess it's the truth." She leaned against Saelhil and smiled. "...We're really happy to have you, Valenthion. Really, we are."
Saelhil smiled, then pulled Valenthion over, squeezing the boy's shoulder. "Once my father returns, we will make it official," he assured him. "He has to give his seal of approval, then you will be part of the Nhaethdal family." This made Valenthion smile a bit.
"Then we can go get my hawk?" he asked hopefully.
"Then we can go get my hawk?" he asked hopefully.
Raeliel smiled. "Soon, Valenthion. Soon. We have to find a safe route while the war is happening, but as soon as it's over, or if we can find a safe route before then, we will get you your hawk." She pet his head gently and smiled happily.
Valenthion exhaled softly, smiling a bit, and he leaned comfortably against Raeliel. This had to be the best day of his life, getting new parents that loved him for what he was. They called him an elf, not a mutt, as some elves back at his old village called him. They called him their son. They didn't fight, like his own parents. What else could he ask for?
Raeliel put her arms around him and held him gently, kissing the top of his head. Raeliel seemed to just be a natural mother. She reached a hand over and took Saelhil's hand, smiling at him. "You know what, Valenthion? I'm glad you stole from us." She chuckled. "Otherwise, we'd never have met."
Saelhil chuckled. "It seemed to be fate that you hurt your leg then, hm?"
Valenthion closed his eyes and smiled a bit. "Yeah..." His smile widened slightly. "Thanks for not killing me or sending me away, Raeliel."
Valenthion closed his eyes and smiled a bit. "Yeah..." His smile widened slightly. "Thanks for not killing me or sending me away, Raeliel."
Raeliel chuckled. "What, send away a cute little kid like you? Not a chance!" She ruffled his hair playfully and then held him. "You're welcome, Valenthion. I'm so gla--" Suddenly she was interrupted. Some of the elder elves had come into the room. "Raeliel, Saelhil, we need to speak with you. Alone." Raeliel gave Saelhil a look. She knew what this was about. It was about the boy in her arms.
Saelhil sighed, realizing the same thing. He got up, helping Raeliel to stand as well. "We'll be back soon, alright, Valenthion?"
Valenthion stood as well, his eyes now wide. He said nothing though, and listened to them walk out. He felt his stomach clench up and his throat tighten. He knew it. It was too good to be true. They wouldn't be allowed to adopt him, because his father was a human. He wasn't stupid; he knew that he would never be able to fit in, no matter how much Saelhil and Raeliel assured him he could. No one could fully understand.

Raeliel smiled gently and kissed Valenthion's head, right in front of the elders. "Why don't you go play with Talainna for a bit? We'll be right back, okay?" She poked his cheek and smiled, then took Saelhil's hand and walked into another room with the elders. "What in the world are you thinking? You can't have that thing in this village!" one of the elders protested. Raeliel frowned. "Why can't we have that boy Valenthion in the village? He's an elf." She put her hands on her hips. "He is not an elf, he's human! A mixed, it's a disgrace!" Raeliel felt her blood boiling already.
Saelhil cut in rather abruptly. "And it's his fault that his birth father is a human?" he snapped, narrowing his eyes. "What is different about him than any other child here? He has a heart, he has a mind, he has two eyes, two ears, a nose, and a mouth. He only wants to be loved!"
"As do dogs, but it isn't suitable to treat them like people," one of the elders said slyly. Saelhil felt his face redden in anger, and his voice dropped to a harsh whisper so that he wouldn't yell.
"Valenthion's mother was an elf. She was killed by those humans, and his father left him abandoned. He is a child, and he needs to be cared for by those of his kind," Saelhil muttered.
"Then find other half-humans and send him there, where he will be more readily accepted." The elder shrugged, and many of them agreed.

Raeliel felt every muscle in her body tense. "Valenthion is a Nhaethdal, and there is nothing any of you can say that will stop that. Do you know what? You are all just as bad as the humans. The humans rejected him because half-human wasn't good enough for them! What you're doing is no better! You are lowering yourself to the humans' level. If you want to be like a human so badly, go out and fight for them. We'll see what you say about half-elves then." She narrowed her eyes. "Any one of you dare speak a word against my son or try in any way to harm him, and I will tie you up and put you out for the humans. Have you forgotten how I have protected your lives and provided for you throughout this war? Is this how you treat me for all I have done for you and this village? You should be ashamed to call yourselves elves." She turned and started walking away to find her son. She wasn't going to listen to this anymore.

"I will be sure to inform my father about this. I'm fairly certain he won't be too pleased about you wanting to send his grandson away," Saelhil said icily to them, turning to leave after his wife.
Valenthion was still in the dining room, sitting on the cushions with his knees pulled up to his chest, his face hidden in them. He didn't move when his would-be parents walked in.
