Raeliel blushed as he addressed their child. "Ah...we have...two. Valenthion, the boy we adopted, and the baby I am pregnant with. Both of your grandchildren are doing fine. Everything is taken care of, you just focus on getting rest, alright?"
Thortharion sighed contently and closed his eyes. "Good, good..." he breathed, at peace with the good news of his grandchildren. After a few moments of quiet, a medic entered. Saelhil knew that his father needed rest, so he leaned down to kiss his father's forehead.
"Get some rest, alright? I can't keep Talainna away from you forever, you know." He smiled gently at him. "I'll come back soon, Father." He turned to leave, pausing long enough for Raeliel to say goodbye if she wished before the medic began working on applying more ointment to his father's wounds and giving him fresh medicine.

"You'll see them both soon, don't worry. I know Valenthion will like to meet you." She smiled gently, said goodbye and told him to rest, then left the room with Saelhil. She held onto his hand tightly. She had to stay strong for Saelhil, but it was a lot harder than she expected. Baby hormones and all that.
Saelhil walked down the hall steadily, holding Raeliel's hand tightly. His heart ached, seeing his father like that. He needed to know what happened to him... No one knew, only that he must have been attacked by some sort of beast, according to the claw marks. But Thortharion hadn't spoken a word about it, and Saelhil didn't want to trouble his father with such thoughts. So instead he just tried to take comfort in the hope that his father would be perfectly fine... wouldn't he?
"Let's go visit Valenthion. I want to spend time with him." She couldn't help it. Valenthion was her son now, and with how she was feeling at the moment (depressed and hopeless), she wanted to see his smile and his happiness. "I know he'd like to spend more time with you too, Saelhil."
"Mm," Saelhil said with a nod. "I hope he's getting on well with that egg... Do you think he'll take good care of it?" he asked, glancing over at her. He hadn't spent nearly as much time with Valenthion as Raeliel had been able to, but Valenthion didn't seem too reckless, and hopefully the boy would care for the unborn hawk in his possession.
Raeliel nodded. "I'm sure he'll do his best. He's a smart boy, and very caring. And he was so excited about that hawk that I don't possibly see how he would be reckless with it at all." She smiled softly and walked with him until they found Valenthion.
Valenthion was with the other children. As the war had just ended, not everyone had really moved out of the safe houses yet. The adults were working on getting everything settled, but the younger children stayed together, as they had been doing for the past few months or so. Valenthion had found a satchel and tucked squares of soft cloth into it to make it into a bit of a bed or a nest for the egg, and he constantly had his hand wrapped around the egg when he could, so he could keep the egg steady and warm. It may have been better for him to keep the egg somewhere where it would be moving, but the boy daren't let his precious egg out of his sight (well, you know what I mean). When Raeliel entered the room, he immediately noticed, having heard her footsteps and smelled her sweet scent.
"Raeliel!" he said, jumping up from his spot and going to her, hugging around her waist. After a moment, he reached out and felt another person standing there. "Saelhil!" He grinned as Saelhil chuckled and gently ruffled the boy's hair.
"Good morning, Valenthion," Saelhil greeted with a smile.

Raeliel felt all her worries melt away when Valenthion greeted her with so much excitement. "Hey!" She hugged him gently and kissed his head. "How are you doing, Valenthion?" She smiled as he realized that Saelhil was there. "We wanted to come spend some time with you. Are you free? Saelhil wanted to check up on the egg, too." She had her hand on the boy's shoulder, rubbing it gently.
"Oh!" Valenthion grinned happily and got his bag, opening it up so that they could see it. "Here." The egg was safe and sound, surrounded by blankets. "I'm keeping it with me... I don't want it to hatch when I'm not there."
Saelhil chuckled. "You're taking very good care of it, I see. Good job, Valenthion. Just make sure you don't play too hard and wiggle it around a lot."
"Don't worry. I don't plan on playing tag or anything until it hatches." Valenthion nodded, watching his egg blindly as he reached down to fondle it a bit. After a moment, he closed the bag and looked up. "What do you want to do?" He smiled at his parents, leaning a bit against Raeliel.

"It looks like you're taking very good care of it. Just listen to what Saelhil says and stay careful and safe." She smiled and put an arm around him. "How about we take a walk? Get things settled back in our house. You haven't been to the house yet, Valenthion. All you've known is the safehouses." She smiled and looked at Saelhil. "What do you say, Saelhil? Shall we officially show him his new home?"
"Mm... yes, I think that it's about time he gets to know our house." Saelhil smiled. "Come on, this way." He gently touched Valenthion's arm, then squeezed Raeliel's free hand and began leading his family towards their home. He felt a bit of a swell of pride, walking with his wife and son towards the home they would share. It seemed that things were finally settling down.
Raeliel walked with them to their house, smiling happily. She 'showed' Valenthion around with Saelhil, then finally stopped at what would be his room. "We've got to get it all decorated, but it's got the bed and everything so you've got all you need." She helped him feel where each piece of furniture was and such. "What do you think, Valenthion?"
"It's... It's wonderful..." Valenthion turned to face them, smiling. "Thank you so much." He looked quietly happily, just feeling the wood of his desk as he just kind of grinned.
Raeliel smiled. "I'm glad you like it. Is there anything you want in your room? We'll have to get it suited up for you, and for the hawk. We'll put in things for your hawk soon." She smiled at him and kissed his cheek, then looked at Saelhil. "Which reminds me...How many bedrooms does this house have?" She never really got to spend much time in it. So much had gone on. "We're getting a new addition to the family soon after all." She smiled and touched her stomach.
"I don't know... I think it's perfect for now." Valenthion smiled felt his way along, just memorizing his room while his parents talked.
"We have plenty of rooms," Saelhil said with a gentle smile, pulling her close and kissing her forehead gently. "I don't think we'll ever exceed how many rooms there are, but if we do, we can just build more." He chuckled softly.

Raeliel laughed a bit and smirked at him. "Hinting at something, Saelhil?" she teased, quietly so that Valenthion wouldn't be embarrassed. She leaned in and gave him a soft kiss, then looked over at Valenthion. "I'm glad you like it, Valenthion." She looked at Saelhil, then back to the boy. "So what else would you two like to do while we have some time together?"
Saelhil only laughed at her comment, kissing her gently. He looked over at his son. "How about we head out for a picnic, out in the meadow? I'm sure you two could use some time out of the village."
"Yes!" Valenthion agreed immediately, looking at them. "Can we, Raeliel?" His expression was hopeful, and his voice pleading.

Raeliel looked at Saelhil at the suggestion, then she chuckled softly as Valenthion begged her to agree. "Alright. I think it sounds wonderful." She ruffled his hair playfully, then looked at Saelhil. "Why don't you and Valenthion go pick out a nice spot, while I get the picnic basket ready with food?"
"Mm! Let's go, Valenthion." Saelhil patted his son's head and headed out, Valenthion trailing cheerfully behind.
The child seemed especially happy to have both his parents home. During his month or so with Raeliel, he had grown quite close to her, and her talk of Saelhil had made him long for a father. Now that Saelhilw as home for good, Valenthion was ecstatic.
