Raeliel let the boys have some time together, packing up their food into the basket. She paused for a few moments and gasped, pain rolling through her. She clenched the counter and took steady breaths for a few moments. She was still early in her pregnancy, but these pains happened occasionally. She put her hand on her stomach. "Shh...it's okay. It's okay, little one.." She took in a few more steady breaths, then finished packing and went out to find Saelhil. She hadn't told him about the pains yet. She didn't want him to worry. He worried enough when she was sick, he probably wouldn't like knowing that she was hurting. She was pretty sure it was just her pregnancy straining some past injuries, like her ribs. But she didn't want him to worry.

Saelhil and Valenthion had take a blanket out. They had found a nice spot around some flowers, and currently Saelhil was watching Valenthiom walk around in the tall grass. It was flat land, so he could move freely without fear of tripping. Eventually, Valenthion just flopped down on the blanket to wait for Raeliel.

Raeliel soon came, smiling as she spotted them lounging around on the blanket. "Sheesh, you guys are so lazy!" she teased, giggling. She sat down and set the basket in the middle. "Here we go! What do you want, Valenthion?" She listed what she'd brought, smiling and handing over whatever he asked for. She looked at Saelhil and smiled. "This was a nice idea, Saelhil. It's beautiful out today." She turned to Valenthion. "Remember to be careful with your egg, Valenthion. Maybe you should set the bag out on the blanket and open the top so it can get some of the sun's warmth."

Valenthion had begun eating, but at Raeliel's suggestion, he nodded. "Oh!" He got his bag and carefully opened it up, arranging it so that the egg could get as much sunlight as possible.

Meanwhile, Saelhil chuckled. "Mm. It's gorgeous outside." He reached for some food, smiling. "Thank you for being so quick in getting us some food." He leaned over to kiss her. "You're too amazing."

Raeliel smiled and watched the egg for a few moments, then looked at Saelhil and kissed him back. "Of course. You're just as amazing, you know that. I think we're all pretty amazing here." She started eating, relaxing with her family for now.

Saelhil smiled happily and sighed contently, leaning back on one hand to eat. He watched Valenthion for a while, studying how the boy moved, how he would often reach over to adjust the egg for maximum sunlight. Yes... Things were definitely going right, for once. He just wondered how long it would last.

Raeliel watched Valenthion and Saelhil, smiling softly. She laid down as well after she ate and just watched the two loves of her life. Valenthion was allowed to go run around if he wanted, but if he stayed with them he'd eventually start getting cuddles from Raeliel. She was so glad their family was finally together.

Saelhil chased Valenthion around after they ate in a playful game of tag. After a while, though, Valenthion grew tired and returned to the blanket, laying with Raeliel and gladly accepting her cuddles. Saelhil lounged on Raeliel's other side, playing with her hair quietly, sometimes leaning down to kiss her in the blissful peace of the hours they spent on the meadow.

Raeliel laughed and watched them run after each other, smiling a bit. Well, it was very entertaining. She snuggled up against Valenthion when he laid down with her, and returned every single kiss that Saelhil gave her. Life was so perfect in those moments. Those happy moments seemed to just make up for all the pain and suffering they'd gone through in the months before. It had all been worth it.

After a while, though, their time in the meadow had to come to an end. The sun began to set, turning the sky red, and Saelhil reluctantly began packing everything up. He let his wife and son relax for a little while longer as he packed the basket, but he eventually had to rouse them.

"Alright... Time to get home, you two." He smiled gently and ruffled Valenthion's hair. "Get your bag, Valenthion. You don't want to leave it out here." Valenthion gave Raeliel once last nuzzle before he sat up, feeling around for a moment before grabbing his bag, wrapping the egg in its blanket again before standing and stretching, bag over his shoulder.

Salehil reached out to help Raeliel up, if she needed it. Once she was in her feet, he would pull her close to hold her for just a just moments, pressing his forehead to hers.

Raeliel sighed and reluctantly got up, taking his hand to do so. She stood and stretched a little, then happily held her husband, her forehead resting against his. And suddenly the pain came like a wave rolling over her. Raeliel gasped and jerked away, leaning forward a bit and putting her hand on her stomach, her other hand holding onto Saelhil's shoulder tightly to keep herself from falling over. She panted softly for a few moments, eyes shut tight, and then focused on taking her deep breaths. In, out. In, out. Finally, the pain subsided. Her grip on his shoulder relaxed and then released, probably leaving a red mark of her fingers on his skin from how tight she'd held onto him. "Sorry.."

Saelhil gasped slightly when she suddenly jerked back and had a death grip on his shoulder. He was a bit in shock and his brain didn't process what happened until after the episode had passed. Staring at her in confusion and a bit of fear, he reached out for her cheek, ignoring the throbbing in his shoulder.

"Raeliel?! Are you alright?!"

Raeliel nodded slightly. "Yeah...I'm...I'm okay. It just happens sometimes." She'd been able to hide it from Valenthion pretty well, or so she'd thought. Maybe he had noticed but was keeping it secret. But now the secret was out. "I'm okay. Really." She smiled a little at him. "It doesn't last long, and when it passes I'm fine." She started walking, taking his hand to pull him along.

Saelhil watched her worriedly. He scooped up the packet basket and blanket and walked along with her. "What's causing it?" he asked, hoping she at least knew why she had pains. He never remembered his mother having such pain when she was pregnant with Talainna. "Have you told anyone else?" External dangers, he knew Raeliel could protect herself. But if she didn't know what was happening...it made him sick with worry.

Raeliel sighed softly. "I think it's just the pregnancy battling against some of my old injuries. Remember when I almost broke some ribs? The changes in my body might be hurting the old injuries. I think that's what it is. I'm alright, don't worry. I promise." She smiled softly at him and walked between him and Valenthion. "It happens, but it passes." She hesitated a moment, then shook her head. "I haven't told anyone, no..."

"...mm, alright." Saelhil nodded slightly. He squeezed her hand slightly, then glanced over at Valenthion. The boy seemed rather quiet, but he didn't seem troubled... He walked quietly back to the village withi them. "If anything worse happens, you'll tell me, won't you?" he asked, not wanting anything to be wrong with his dear Raeliel, or his unborn child.

Raeliel nodded. "I will. I promise, Saelhil. You know I'd go to you if I thought it was serious." She walked with him and sighed. "I haven't exactly had the most peaceful life after meeting you, remember? We've been through a lot. My body's been through a lot. I think that's why I'm having these pains sometimes. The changes are stressing old injuries. I don't think they'll get worse, I think it's just...It's like putting pressure against a sore arm. It hurts, but it won't do anything, you know?"

"Mm..." Saelhil nodded. He sighed, then smiled sheepishly. "I know, I'm sorry. I'm just worried." He kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry for putting you in constant danger." He chuckled softly. Truly, since they met their lives had been rather...adventurous, to say the least. First the human at the beach house, then the war with the humans... They seemed destined to be together, so Saelhil wasn't sure exactly why so many bad things had happened to them. Of course, they had their share of good things, such as falling in love, adopting Valenthion, and now her being pregnant. It was as if the universe couldn't decide whether it approved of their marriage or not.

Raeliel laughed softly. "You aren't putting me in constant danger." She looked at him for a few moments and smiled. "I love being with you. And I love having you as my son, Valenthion." She touched the boy's shoulder. "You've been awfully quiet. Are you okay? Or are you just tired from everything today?" He was precious to her; she wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with him.

Valenthion looked up towards her voice, and nodded. "I'm fine." He reached out and took her hand, smiling faintly. After a moment, he looked away. "...when your baby's born, you aren't going to kick me out, are you?" he suddenly asked. His voice was quiet, but nod sad or angry, as if he was mentally preparing himself to not be too hurt when they said "yes."

Saelhil was a bit surprised at Valenthion's sudden worry; the boy asked it fairly early, seeing as the baby seemed so far away yet. However, the boy's question disturbed him, especially the way in which he asked it. Saelhil looked over at Raeliel solemnly, knowing she would be better at answering him. Raeliel was, of course, amazing with Valenthion.
