Raeliel gasped softly at the question and stopped walking. She turned to face him and put her hand over his. "Why in the world would we do that, Valenthion? Of course not. We would never do that. Oh honey..." She pulled him into a gentle hug, shutting her eyes tightly. "Nobody is going to replace you, Valenthion, and you're not a replacement for anybody. You're our wonderful son that we are so blessed with, and no baby is ever going to change that. The only thing that's going to happen when the baby is born is that you are going to get a new little brother or sister. I'm so excited that they will have a wonderful big brother like you to play with them and help them learn and grow." She kissed Valenthion's head. "I promise on my life, Valenthion, we are never going to kick you out or get rid of you. Even if the entire village went against us, we would still keep you. You're our son just as much as any baby I'm ever going to have."

Valenthion allowed himself to be hugged, hiding his face in her shoulder {assuming she crouched}. He was very quiet while she talked and held him, listening in silence. When she promised, his grip on her tightened, and he gulped a bit. "Al-... Alright," he said softly.

Saelhil sighed quietly. He knelt on one knee and gently rubbed Valenthion's back. "Don't you ever let anyone tell you otherwise, Valenthion," he said sternly. "You are our son... It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks... or even what you think, for that matter. We will always love you, no matter what you say or do. Nothing will ever change that." He smiled gently. "...now come on. Let's get home, alright? It will be dark soon."

Raeliel held him close, smiling as Saelhil backed up what she said. When he mentioned going home, she gave a slight nod. "That sounds like a good idea. Right, Valenthion? Want to go home?" She pulled away a little and kissed his forehead. "A new home with a new bed. Sounds pretty exciting, right?" She straightened and held his hand as she walked, her other hand reaching for Saelhil's.

Valenthion bit his lip, and nodded a bit. He made a small sound of affirmation in his throat and held her hand tightly as they walked back to the village.

Saelhil led them back to their home and brought them inside. He looked down at his son, and suddenly smiled. "You know what, Valenthion? Tomorrow we are going to get you some new clothes of your own." The boy had been using other people's clothes during the entire time he was at the village, since he didn't want to wear his human garb. "We'll go to Mel and get some things tomorrow, and then we can go out and show you the forest, mm? I think it's about time you got to explore outside the village."

Raeliel walked along quietly, then smiled as Saelhil spoke of going out with the boy. "I think that sounds like a great idea. It'll be a chance for some father-son bonding. I can pack a lunch for you two to take out with you, maybe you'll find somewhere nice to sit and eat during your explorations." She pet Valenthion's head.

Valenthion smiled a bit. "Yeah, thank you." He gripped Raeliel's hand tightly, then used his free hand to cover up his mouth when he yawned.

Saelhil smiled. "But I think a good night's rest is in order, first." He reached over to ruffle Valenthion's hair, chuckling.

Raeliel chuckled and nodded. "I think you're right, Saelhil. Come on, Valenthion, it's time for bed." She led him up to his room and tucked him in, kissing him goodnight. She made sure he was all settled in, then she took Saelhil's hand and went to their room. "...it's so nice to be a family again."

Saelhil smiled and nodded, kissing her cheek as they entered their room. "It's so nice to have come home to a family," he said quietly, squeezing her hand tightly. "I can't think of anything more I could possibly want right now."

"I feel the same way." Raeliel smiled softly at him and climbed into bed carefully, cuddling up against him. "Soon our family's going to be bigger." She took in a deep breath and let it out. "Do you think Valenthion will be able to handle a little sibling? I had no idea he was thinking that way...I can't imagine why he would think we would get rid of him." She sighed softly. "I guess we just have to prove to him how much we love him. Prove to him that he's here to stay, forever."

"I imagine the reason for his thinking is because he had a human father, and what he did to him," Saelhil reasoned quietly, pulling her close. "Humans do that sort of thing... They push their children out at such a young age... He just needs to realize that we don't do that. He'll understand by the time the baby is born." He gently nuzzled her temple. "No need to worry about that now."

Raeliel nodded a bit. "I suppose so. It's so sad to think that he's had such a childhood." Though he wasn't a child, in human terms. In their world though he was indeed still a child. "We will just show him how much we love him." She snuggled against him and sighed contently. "Goodnight, Saelhil. Sleep well."

"Good night, Raeliel." Saelhil kissed her forehead. Before he adjusted himself for sleep, he pressed his hand softly against her stomach, wanting to be reminded of what was to come. Hopefully Valenthion and the baby would get along well; he couldn't imagine them fighting.

Raeliel slept a bit restlessly. It was to be expected, being pregnant. She got up a few times feeling quite sick, and the occasional pains also woke her. Soon she was able to settle in for the rest of the night, though.

{Well... We can skip to a few months later, when Raeliel's further along. Maybe some major problems can happen? Not major, just a bit unnerving, like maybe worsening pains. Or we could skip to when the baby is born and they find out it has some problems <//3 Which do you prefer? //is extremely bad at making decisions like this//}

(Hmmmm we can go ahead and skip to when the baby is born, I think. >3> We can just assume that there's been some unnerving problems happening so they're all stressed when the baby is born.)

Will you be RPing the baby? //I know it doesn't really matter since he/she is still so young, but personalities show even at a young age~// I was thinking that I wanted to RP him/her, but then I'd be RPing three characters at once... So yeah xD But I can RP the baby, if you want. Also, I think the baby should be a girl, unless you think a boy would be better. xDD And didn't we say it would have a weak immune system and some breathing problems, or something like that?

Saelhil paced relentlessly outside the door in the midwife's home, his face as pale as a sheet. How dare they not allow him in the room when his wife was giving birth to their firstborn child! He had been allowed to be with Raeliel for when she had gone into labor, but they kicked him out once she began actually delivering the baby, when she needed him most! He felt sick, and angry, and anxious all at once. Really, the young man didn't know what to do with himself, since he couldn't be with Raeliel. The pregnancy had had a few problems, and he felt dizzy just thinking about everything that could go wrong.

Every few minutes, Saelhil would pause his pacing to listen for any troubling sounds, but he didn't hear anything. Unfortunately, his father was just recovering, and was still on bedrest, though his wounds had healed; Thortharion was left very weakened, and thus couldn't be with his son for such an important event. When Saelhil realized Raeliel was going into labor, he made sure Valenthion went off with Talainna; he didn't want the boy nearby, just in case something went horribly wrong. He didn't want his son to be afraid... even though Saelhil was plenty afraid himself, with his heart pounding and his hands trembling.

In just the few minutes he had been away from Raeliel, he felt that he needed to rip his heart out of his chest because it was pounding so hard that it almost hurt. The nursemaids had assured him they would take care of Raeliel, but she was his wife... He wanted to be with her so, so badly... Instead, he was blocked from her by three inches of wood.

(I can RP the baby for now, and then when we get to the point that it can actually do things I can hand it off to you if you want x3 and yes, weak immune system and breathing problems)

Three inches of wood did nothing to stop the screams of labor pain. Sucks to be you, Saelhil! Unfortunately, the labor took a couple hours. Then the screaming stopped, and there was...silence. No baby's cry. Agonizing moments went by until finally, finally, a baby started crying. It would still take a few minutes before Saelhil would be let in. When he was, Raeliel would be propped up in bed, holding a wrapped up little bundle of blankets that was crying weakly. Raeliel looked worse than she did after any battle she'd been through, but she was smiling so happily. "Saelhil. Look. It's...it's our daughter.."

{Alright! I'll take the liberty of describing her, then~}

Saelhil was in as much emotional agony as Raeliel was in physical agony during those few hours. At her blood-curdling screams, Saelhil felt himself tremble, and his nails dug into his palms just so he could stand the thought of being separated from Raeliel while she was in so much pain.

It wasn't until he heard the crying of a baby that Saelhil managed to relax...just a bit.

When he was let inside, he suddenly felt even more nervous than he had been outside. He saw his wife--simply beautiful, at least in his eyes--and a bundle in her arms. Their child. Their daughter. He smiled with relief, seeing that Raeliel was alright, and he quickly approached her. With a quite kiss to Raeliel's temple, he looked down at their daughter. The crying child in Raeliel's arm had a dark tuff of hair on her head, and when she paused her crying to take a breath, opening her eyes for just a moment, Saelhil could have sworn that she had his eyes, but he couldn't be too sure just yet. "Raeliel... She's beautiful..." he whispered, reaching down to stroke the baby's head, his thumb lingering on her cheek. A shiver ran through him. This was his child, an elf he had part in giving life to. He let out a brief, soft, overjoyed laugh, then leaned down to kiss the top of Raeliel's head. Had all of their worrying during the pregnancy been for naught? Their daughter seemed perfect.
