Talainna skipped into the kitchen, laughing, with Valenthion not far behind.
"T-Talainna! Stop it!" he said, reaching out for her. She let him grab her, and twisted it into a hug.
"But you're so amazing! Come on, tell Rae and Sael!" She giggled brightly, reaching up to tug on his ears. "Do it!"
Valenthion's face reddened and he quickly pushed her aside, tapping his way to the table (ah yes, he trusty old cane... It was a shame when his seeing-eye hawk didn't live long after it hatched, just like most of the others, due to the climate of the forest).

Raeliel had felt terrible when his hawk had died. Poor Valenthion had been through so much already, and it was just more and more. That was why she hoped so much that he would enjoy this vacation of sorts. When Talainna spoke of 'telling', she looked over to Valenthion curiously. "Tell us what, sweetheart?" She was very curious now. She helped Valenthion into his seat and she dished out his food.
"Nothing," Valenthion answered quickly, throwing a glare in Talainna's direction. "It isn't important."
Talainna sat beside him. "Valen's gonna teach me how to catch fish with my bare hands!" she exclaimed excitedly, grinning brightly.
"Hm?" Saelhil walked in, tilting his head a bit. "Really, Valenthion?"
Valenthion's shoulders moved inward, and he lowered his head slightly. "No. I can't, anymore. I only said that I used to be able to do it," he murmured.

Raeliel listened for a few moments, then she frowned softly. "Talainna...you should know better than to force things on Valenthion and twist his words. You're a big girl, you need to be considerate." She sat down by Valenthion and put her hand on his head. "That's really impressive, Valenthion. Maybe we could all try to learn together. With something you used to do, it's generally easier to pick back up again if you just try." She rubbed his head gently. "But only if you want to, of course. If you don't want to do it then you absolutely don't have to." She kissed his head and hugged him.
"This is our vacation, sweetheart. Do whatever makes you happy. That's all that matters. Just do something you would like to do, something you would enjoy."

Talainna frowned. "But he said--"
"Hush, Talainna." Saelhil gave his sister a scolding look, before sitting down.
Valenthion nodded slightly. "It's fine," he murmured, glancing in Talainna's direction and quietly beginning to eat. The girl huffed, annoyed, but began to eat as well.

Raeliel pet Valenthion gently. "You'll have a nice time, I promise. We'll be able to do a lot of fun things together." She took in a deep breath and let it out, then started eating. She glanced at Talainna. It seemed they would need to have a talk about how to treat Valenthion. She looked over at Belle in her little basket, cooing and just chilling out.
"Saelhil said we should all go to the beach. What do you think?"
"Saelhil said we should all go to the beach. What do you think?"
Valenthion glanced up. He nodded. "Yeah, sure."
"Tonight we can make a bonfire out on the beach," Saelhil suggested. "Warm up after getting in the water... Maybe we could eat dinner out there. What do you say?"
"Alright."
Talainna ate quietly, looking as if she wanted to agree, but she was still annoyed about being scolded by her brother and sister-in-law.

Raeliel smiled at the general agreement. She ate her food and cuddled her 'son', trying to make him feel better and smile. "It'll be great. I haven't been to the beach in a while. I don't think I've gone swimming ever since Saelhil and my's honeymoon." She smiled over at Saelhil. "I think it'll be fun for Belle to react to the sand. It's a new experience for her."
Saelhil chuckled softly. "Mm! Maybe at lowtide she could try out the water, as well." He smiled.
After lunch, everything was cleaned up. The family went to change into their swim clothes, and Saelhil led them out to the beach. Funnily enough, they weren't disturbed by any of the locals. The beach was open and free, and perfect for their first outing.

Raeliel giggled softly. "Absolutely. I think she'll like it. She might cry though because she might be confused." After everything was cleaned up and they were all dressed, Raeliel walked with them to the beach. She had Belle in her little basket, in case the baby got tired so she had somewhere to sleep. Once they got to the beach, she set the basket down and picked the child up. "Talainna, Valenthion, you two can go play if you like, but stay close alright? And you two need to stick together." She didn't want Valenthion especially to get hurt. Talainna could take care of herself fairly well, but this was a new environment for Valenthion.
Raeliel sat down and gestured for Saelhil to come over. "Here, watch. I'm going to sit her down in it and see what she does." She sat the baby down and watched. The little girl stared for a moment, looking around. She pat her hands down on the sand and wiggled a little, then she started giggling! Raeliel smiled brightly.

Talainna nodded, going off into the shallow waves with Valenthion.
Saelhil sat down with Raeliel, watching their daughter. A wide grin spread over his face as Belle began feeling the sand, and laughing. He chuckled a bit and leaned over, making a little pile of sand in front of Belle, letting her play with it or knock it down.

Belle stared at the pile being made in front of her and she reached over, sinking her hands into it. She waved her hands around excitedly, thus knocking down the pile, and giggled her cute baby laugh. Raeliel smiled happily. "I think she likes the sand." she commented, chuckling. Belle giggled and looked at Saelhil expectantly. "I think she wants you to make it again." Raeliel said to him. She glanced over to make sure Valenthion and Talainna were doing alright, then looked back to her baby.
Saelhil laughed a bit. "Alright, alright..." He cupped his hands and built up the pile again, a bit bigger than the first time. He adjusted himself so he could sit in front of his daughter, always watching to make sure she didn't get sand in her mouth or eyes.
Valenthion and Talainna were doing fine. Valenthion seemed to be having a good time, being chased by Talainna through the waves. He got pushed over by a wave, but Talainna was swift to help him, and they ended up play-wrestling in the water.

Raeliel watched with a smile. Belle tried a couple times to eat the sand, but when they kept denying her of it, she stopped bothering and just went back to knocking down the piles that Saelhil made for her. She giggled happily, and just knocked off sandpile after sandpile.
Raeliel watched the children play-wrestle and she smiled. "Remember to be nice, you two." she called. She then looked back to Saelhil and their baby. "Want to try and put her feet in the water? We can take her over to the edge and wait for the waves to come up."

The children carried up happily, whether or not they heard Raeliel. They seemed to be getting along fine, though.
Saelhil glanced up at the suggestion and smiled broadly. "Mm! Let's!" He chuckled and scooped up Belle, spinning her around gently before clutching her to his chest, heading closer to the shore. "Want to try out the water, Belle? It will be a bit different from your usual bath, though, I'm afraid, so don't be scared. Be brave, my little flower!"

Raeliel loved seeing her husband interact with her child. It made her feel so warm and happy. She got to her feet, letting him carry the baby, who was happy and giggling and kicking her feet excitedly. Raeliel blinked softly and looked at Saelhil. "Hey...you know I just realized, she hasn't been coughing at all." Was the fresh sea air really helping already? She was pretty excited.
"Here, right here." She was at the water's edge, which was all wet sand until the waves came to just touch toes. "Put her down here, just hold onto her and have her stand for now."

"She just needed some fresh air, is all." Saelhil smiled, kissing Belle's forehead. Once they reached the edge of the wet sand, he gently lowered Belle down, his hands under her armpits to keep her steady, letting her little bare feet on the cool sand. In just a few moments, the water washed up towards them, splashing gently over the child's feet, sinking her toes into the wet sand.
The baby cooed happily at the affections she was giving, and she waved her arms and bounced up and down on her knees when she was set down. When the water came up over her feet, though, she froze. Her eyes grew wide, and she looked quite like she was about to cry, but then the water went away. Belle stared in little baby confusion.
Raeliel tried hard not to laugh. The water came up again, and once more Belle nearly cried, but the water went away again! Raeliel reached over and took her foot, having her stomp down on the wet sand some. That was enough to distract the baby and have her start stomping her feet and jumping up and down on the sand. While she was jumping (with Saelhil supporting her of course), the water came up again. When she landed, it splashed! Belle stared wide-eyed for a moment, then burst into a fit of giggles and jumped some more until the water came and she splashed again, which caused even more giggles!
Raeliel laughed lightly. "I think she likes it. She just needs to get used to it."

Saelhil laughed, watching his daughter play in the water now. "Good! She'll be playing in it all winter." He chuckled, lifting his daughter up a few times to help her make bigger splashes, causing giggle fits galore. Not far away, Valenthion carried Talainna on his back, romping through the waves. All seemed to be at peace once more.
Raeliel chuckled softly. "Yes, she will be. I'm glad she likes it. Maybe we'll take her out into the water with us later, just holding her." She pet Belle's head, and the little girl giggled and jumped and had a great time. Raeliel looked over at Valenthion and Talainna and smiled softly. "Salehil...I'm so glad we did this. I'm glad that we could come here. And...I'm so glad that you came with us."
