Happy New Year!
In the spirit of playfulness and creativity, hoping that these two things will be abundant for everyone in 2020 (heck in the new '20 decade), I am posting another Raffle! I am giving away my faithful walrus who protected me heroically during the 2019 Epic Week! (he did an amazing job, I got so many points!!!)
Rules:
Send me a PM with the solution to the following puzzle before noon EST on Jan. 31st.
All the entrants will be announced here, and then a Raffle will be held in the evening of Jan. 31st.
Very Important Clue: the choice of the prize is not random but has a meaning related to the puzzle!
Dragons from the times of old,
Rarest among all to have ever walked the Earth,
Are still to be found in certain places, I’m told,
Guarding treasures beyond any worth.
Once this I read in a very old book,
None could ever find its twain,
But I always wondered what it took,
Living that story once again.
Of dragons and battle I dreamed as a child,
Of legendary heroes born anew,
Dancing fairies guiding them into the wild,
Many of their kind buried under yew.
And after those stories had run their course,
Killed the dragon or not, as may be,
Entire epic poems in Old Norse,
Seemed to spring into life eternally.
One can wonder still if it’s fairy tales,
None will know the truth as it was,
Exciting findings of bones or scales,
In any case will give you pause.
None can say if those dragons are still
Vivant as the French may say,
Until a witch or wizard with sufficient skill,
Looks for them in their hideaway.
None has ever lived to tell the tale,
Existing or not, these dragons are feared,
Raidho may help while you’re following their trail,
And may Algiz protect you when your own spells fail,
Because these dragons are definitely weird.
Let your journey begin, you start now on a quest,
End in sight, may this be your final test.

Okay, let's ramp up the prize for this word puzzle. One faithful walrus and one dragon's tooth.
PS: The dragon's tooth is not the solution to the puzzle, just wishful thinking. But I added it to the prize anyway.

Okay, we're more than half-way there, so another clue:
What do Albus Dumbledore and the The Song of the Nibelungs have in common?

Ramping this up with a secret Red Envelope surprise to be added to the list of prizes.
Happy New Year of the Rat!
(Rats have nothing to do with the puzzle solution, just to be clear.)
