I thought I try out something and open up an OOC discussion thread for Interstellar Wayfarers, for those currently involved and/or watching/reading through and wish to have some place to discuss whats happening.
If you don't know what I.W is, its a a Novel based Starship RPG, where a player can take any spaceship (within reason) from any established scifi realm or your own, and join in an adventure. The "story" progresses in part on how each ship and the player responds to others, which could lead to some interesting results.
For a more thorough look-see, pop over to the thread linked here: Interstellar Wayfarers
In any event let the discussions begin and tell us what you think!
What will happen next in this meeting of interstellar travels?

END OF INTERSTELLAR WAYFARERS
Well, hell broke loose, so someone's going down. I am thinking here that the Bismarck is gonna get messed up by both ships on her. Doesn't bother me, though. I bet I can get Ascrith out.
Haha! Hell seems to have broken loose.
But theres interesting thing about "war," and thats communication. Theres quite a lag in it (hey theres none of those fancy expensive and powerful comm station relays out in the frontier, for near instant communication) so in all respects it seems like entirely two, well three actually, entirely different situations going on, because the characters have to rely on the information they have on hand.
It been an interesting turn of events. Imagine if there were several other ships (players) around. Jeez, thatll explode the mind with all the scenarios that couldve happened.

Oh, and for clarification, the Bismarck is right in between the two ships. She could target both, and because the rounds have an initial propellant (like today's charges for shells, but much stronger), they also have a second propellant that allows them to move FARTHER. Which would be very helpful. However, that would still take a while, so on the Hellraiser cannons, they have a railgun attachment that kicks in only when it is out of standard range.
Yes, communication. See, in normal battle, a string of cruisers would help provide that communication, relaying the signal automatically. Unfortunately, its only one ship each nation, and one of them doesn't belong in that time! I would love to see that war blossom, though, because that's my violent tendencies blooming.

Technically you right, in that the Bis was "between" the two ships, but she was with Time out in deep space, outside the colony, about .4 light years away from. It wouldnt have mattered though, because it still wouldve taken the Valhalla time to get to the L-Point, upload the information from the satellite, and make sure the support ships are deployed; ample time to allow the Bis to get in system and do some scans.
Indeed. A normal battle, would see the battleships being screened by cruisers, a destroyers (hey those tin cans would totally make easier work of that last attack )
But, with the mano-y-mano business, things are a bit more tense and exciting. And of course deadly.
Least to say though...you really gave that late 21t century battleship some scars, surprised she managed to pull into FTL.

Damn tin cans would make GREAT target practice for all three of us.
"In space, all warriors are cold warriors,". That means that with no communication abilities, whose to say that no one will commit war crimes? I have fancied the idea of shelling a ship with a mustard gas/HE variant missile/shell.
See, our ships could NEVER pull into FTL with that bad of a hit. We'd would've been screwed over TWICE inside the Warp with those holes. You did pretty damn good, I'll give you that, and more. Took out a Supercarrier, survived an onslought from a Battle Barge, and made it to FTL in the SAME TWO HOURS. It is truly an honor to shake your hand.

Oh poor tin cans.
Oh thats just mean! But I agree with that quote. In the last few hours, things have happened and happened fast. With the ball moving, all one can do is to keep up and try to figure out what the hell is going on.
*shakes your hand*
Haha! Its a good thing you managed to meet with such a battle worthy opponent!
And between us, I think Commander Cigol might be enjoying the challenge O.O
But really I think it all came down to Valhalla/Liala, and her quick acting. If it wasn't for her, the Val will surely still be back in Calypso licking some heavy wounds. Thats not to say her wounds arent heavy now. The damage report might be long.
And yeah about you guys Warp. Its like youve gotta make sure to keep deamons at bay while yall traverse it yes?

Yes, it is mean, but I would still like to see it. I believe that if one truly uses the full power of such a weapon, then there's no telling what they can do.
*Shakes hand*
Quite, good sir! Tis the most worthy battle opponent!
I think Ascrith's enjoying that challenge, too, but for other reasons.
Our Warp is very tricky. There always has to be a psychic aboard, and we do have to have special shields to keep them away. That's why you will never catch us without shields jumping into Warp. So, yes, we do. That's why Ascrith was chosen for that high rank.

Yeah I thought as much.
This seems pretty awesome, actually. I've had a bit of skim through the RP nd it seems like a great deal of fun! If it's still open I have two ships in mindthat I could play...
The first is a heavily modified pirate cruiser by the name Lapis Lazuli Dawn an original ship of my own making, I don't have a pic for it and I can't draw very well, so I'd have to look for one that might match. The ship is highly maneouverable and has shields and weapons modified to be more powerful than is standard for a ship of its class, but the increased power requirements mean that it isn't good for anything like a pitched battle as the stress on the power supply could lead to an overload, at best disabling weapons and shields and at worst blowing up the shield generator, weapons array or even the power core.
The second ship is also original, and I have a bit of a doodle for it. The Modified Royal Diplomatic Cruiser Alsa Nihr Terel or Hand of Terel. Not originally a dedicated warship, most of its defenses come in the form of a complement of fighters and bombers and point defense turrets studded across the hull. Recent upgrades to its shields and the addition of two heavy plasma cannons and a couple of lighter railgun emplacements serve to give it more bite, however it is still not designed as an out and out warship and it probably wouldn't survive going toe to toe with any dedicated warcraft for a protracted period of time.

Sure by all means. Give the rules a read and surge onward!
And, in agreement with my friend here, I say:
Use both! You'll need it, and I'm assuming you will want to tango with the Bismarck, so both combined will be fun to deal with...
By the way, did I just start a Galactic war with three different empires?

Did you start one? ;P
Yep!
BY. THE. GODS! lol
I leave for just a minute and high hum things start moving so fast and crazy! xD
Nice to see other ships though!

IKR?
Yeah hopefully I sorted out/acknowledge everyone whos there and reigned in everything to see whats going.
Things will be progressing in an interest way though, seeing as the usual command sytle of the Valhalla, isn't currently there now.
If you ever saw, the new Battlestar Galctica, look at the change when Colonel Tigh took over after Adama was incapacitated. Shifty!

Good luck, sir!
I was going to write these in the rp thread, but since we have this thread though it be better here.
Quick things I wanted to address before I write up a response...
Is the Hand still firing on the Bismarck or did they stop?
Everyone else except the Colonel and Techs were scooped up as the ship went by the Time Dancer.
Howd/when were/did the Colonel and Techs captured from the Time Dancer and put on the Bismarck? (Seems like a lot of trouble to especially with the augmented Colonel).
Not trying to have a godmode (the Valhalla does get smashed horribly, the damage is ridiculous and as I stated, only by the slim graces of their pilot are they even "alive" and able to move) but the increase in acceleration up toward lightspeed will distort/messup target locks and the battle will be EXTREMELY short. Basically for the ship the size of Bismarck, you'd be about to get a few shots out before she outta range. Though, she was swirling around your ship, so thats a lot of arcs she's went into.
I know Time Dancer is quite damaged, but what is their status? Are they trying to retreat? Are they dead in the water? Did they have a few weapons to use?
Did I read it right a Taranis getting a face full of fire when he returned to his ship?
I don't know if it intentional or not, but Terel just wanted to let you know there is a system (sort of main system where everything started) nearby less than a few light years away from the situation.

Yeah, I know he didn't, but who else does?
Yeah, but I'm making every damn shot I can count. I assumed that they were stationary, though. Sorry.
Taranis did not get that. They were aimed at the men.
