So, during a migration, lightspirit and her brother, Weatherfall's herd goes into a portal to equestria. They didn't see it until, it was too late. When they woke up, each horse changed. They were their same size but, some became pegasi, unicorns and the two siblings that lead the herd, became alicorns. The entire herd was bigger than the ponies and none had their cutie marks like the others. Which caused some friction with the residents of the nearby town.
Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Industrial revolution
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Romance is expected but not required, and will be accompanied by other plot.
