Kat sighed and srugged " i don't know, where ever the wind takes me.. never alowed to stay in one place for to long.. As i said, people don't trust us cats" she said
"Yeah, well people don't trust scouts either... or resistance members depending on where you go." He started rummaging through his pack, looking for any food to spare. "There's water just by the ammo, take one."
Kat walked over and grabbed a thing of water " Thank you" she said looking at him.
He nodded to the girl. "That's a two gallon jug, should last a little time." In the desert it didn't usually, but she seemed like she was heading out of it. He was still rummaging through his packs, looking for any food he had left. He finally found a carefully wrapped circle of hard bread. He stood up and held it out to her as he walked to her corner. He said nothing about his own food shortage.
Kat took it " Thanks" she said " its very kind of you to help me.. and for that i thank you again.. if thers anything i can ever do for you.. find me.. its never hard to find this cat" she said with an amused purr.
"Should you be traveling alone?" the youth questioned. He really didn't know her age and he wasn't sure if he should ask.
Kat's ears drooped a little " i dont really have a choise" she said " the others of my kind dont like me" she said sighing
Drew sighed and leaned against the battlements of the tower, he was going to need to do more talking than he'd wanted to. "Why's that?"
" becuse im not like them" she said " my kind is known for being thugs.. take anything and everything they want even if they don't need it.. Kill anyone they dont like.. Thats why i ran, i knew thed eventuly try to kill me" she said
Drew had a hard choice to make, and he knew it was an important one too. Does he let her move on alone, where she could be in danger, or accompany her and temporarily abandon his self-appointed post in the desert. He stood there for a bit, thinking of what to do, what to decide. After what could have been a while he spoke up, "do you need to be accompanied to another place?"
Kat sighed " iv been alone for so long.." she looked at him " why offer to help me?" she asked in confusion
He shrugged, "doesn't seem safe alone." Drew shortened his sentence as he talked, feeling uncomfortable with not only a stranger, but doing so much talking to another person.
Kat shrugged " yeah i know its not safe.. i just wish i could fine someplace that is"
"The resistance is safe." He said it almost without thinking it. After he spoke he inwardly questioned himself on what he was doing.
She looked at him " it is?" she asked her ears twiching.
Kat sighed " thought there was no place safe out there" she said suddenly she started coughing " dang this cough.. it will stop but come back worse each time" she choked between coughs.
A curious look was given from Drew to the lady in his hide out. "Maybe get that looked at too," he said as he rumaged around his pack again, finding a little bit of his own medicine from his first aid kit. He took a tablet from a small bag handed it to her. "For the cough," he said. The little white substance rested in the palm of his outstretched hand.
Kat took it " Thanks" she said taking it and gulped down a little water along with it
Drew nodded as he turned to pack up his things. They would be safer from animals if they were in his packs when he left them there. His assessment of the girl made him comfortable to have his back turned to her without his hand on or next to a weapon, although that didn't mean he didn't make sure he could readily grab it. "We leave in the morning he said." The sun suggested it was around four in the evening. They could travel farther the next day and not freeze as long. It was very cold at night in the desert.
