" Nasr!" Inei shifted her head, motioning to the expanding dragon. He stared at it, puzzled, until it burst. Both vanished into the shadows instantly.




Night was starting to creep up on the day, making the glowing city brighter than before. Nothing appeared to change but those who weren't Raixi had vanished from the streets. Some tools had been placed near the empty center, waiting for the resources to arrive.

Travis", he said jumping down from the dragon to the c Bret of the town. This time landing on his feet cracking the ground, "entrance made well now Travis", he said looking around.

No answer was given though a few in the distance turned to face him. A few recognized him from earlier and chose to return to their tasks. Those that didn't continued to watch in hopes of satisfying their curiousties.

Pain struck at his heart for even suggesting such a solution. He cringed and shook his head. " Sonne will return and create her world if you do kill her sister. Magic danced in Travis' hands as he watched him walk away. " You expect me to just give up my work and apologize?" He understood that he killed them, every human from every continent except one, the Spirit Continent where no humans lived. Their deaths had a purpose though, one he gambled on with a risk beyond comprehension. Now he needed only wait a little longer before he could finish his project. " Weak? A rush of magic raced towards Shinigami and tore up the ground when he slammed his hand down. The blinding light gave him a chance to slip away. " They were never my kind! I will only regret my choice if I fail and no matter what you say I WILL take her back!"

All he saw was a human who held Kuroi's mark, something Travis used to bide his time, when he expected him to 'save' the humans. "You foolishly trust everyone who crosses your path. The tower had inscriptions on it showing two dragons trying to swallow a moon. When done he jumped back on the dragon, "let's go to kuroi", he said as the dragon made filled dope back to the castle

Inei and Keiran were back at the castle. The boy was in his bed, shivering while Inei and a few other Valra worked to help him.

Blessed to no longer need sleep, Averin was tidying up forgotten areas of the castle. In his mind he counted the days since Kuroi would return. 3 days gone, four more left. Little did he know that her stubbornness had brought her back.

Though her body was whole, Kuroi's mana was none existent, leaving her weak and exhausted. She sat in a dark area of the castle, which rain still reached, and worked with Nasr. The Valra bolted back and forth, tearing at the effigies she had crafted of bones.

His violence and brutality was fit of a Grand Demon but not his own. Occasionally a set of glowing eyes appeared over him and glared at Kuroi. The darkness made it impossible for normal people to see but she could barely make out the shape of hands around the eyes before they vanished again. " Your addicted to terror...revenge...its driven you mad"

" I am fine!" He snapped while bolting into her face. His griffin form made her look so tiny as a human. " Being passive and obedient has left me weak! They all turn to Shinigami for help and he keeps taking the kills. No more mercy! No more holding back! I will show him and my clan that I can defend them. Any who harm my clan or my friends will be slaughtered!"

Death, its allure was greater than the finest flower or jewel. She knew this well with the evidence still hiding in the depths of her castle. Hunched over, peering up from behind her arm, she stared him down. The fierceness was gone but her thoughts were still visible. " Pain unresolved...we must ask what is strength? ...you should...talk to him instead of...suffering alone...that pain is too much for a mortal"

Upon reaching he castle he jumped down from the dragon which disappeared as soon as he got off. He landed face down on the floor, "too tired I see legs", he said

A circle opened in the middle a wormhole appeared in front of him. Massive amount of mana pushed him to the ground, "haven't lost his touch", shinigami said user his breath

Indeed, the unusual spike of mana made Averin pause. It was too early for it to be Kuroi so he fazed through the walls until he reached the area where it was only to find more humans. By now he was somewhat used to them, a strange lot to be sure and unpredictable at best.



" What do you know about mortals!? You are an immortal god!" Nasr roared. He took his were-raven form and raked his talons across Kuroi's neck and face. In her weakness she didn't cry out but fell to her side. While dark streams flowed to the floor, ice built on his talons and crept up his fingers.

" Yaaaa!!" He grabbed his wrist and staggered back, nailing an effigy, then landing on his rear. The eyes peered over him again, almost laughing at the wounded goddess who smiled back. It was more haunting than any demon, like it held a curse for his life. He had done the unthinkable by striking the daughter of the moon.

Slowly she sat up and touched a stream of blood. Never once did her smile fade. " I know more...than you think..." He trembled and scratched his way against the effigy when she locked eyes with him. Only a gentle compassion could be seen but it stung like ice in his soul. " You've lived through hell...and now...fight with yourself. You tell yourself...need to do more...be stronger"

Now she got to her feet and limped closer to him. Each step caused his heart to race faster. The fear stripped him of his beastly form, returning him to normal. " You don't want to lead...but know you must...and feel incapable of it. The war eats you alive...then Shinigami makes everything look so easy. That is strength you...we believe but...the pain grows when...you feel your efforts are in vain"

Before she got too close he scrambled further back, placing himself in rain." G-get away from me! I am unworthy! Wait...your not healing! Lumerin have mercy on me..." Despite his words she continued forward and stared Madness down. Who trembled more? She didn't know but the lineage of the Grand Demon needed to end. " ...you two met...through a fight...worked together...when did it become...a rivalry?"

Wow way to change the subject", shinigami said walking to the castle, "averin I will soon go to the cave to stop anyone from touching kuroi"

Aura? Who were they talking about and what was going on? He began to creep forward when the one saw him. It would take some getting used to being seen by so many. " Averin, if you please. I'm just a caretaker to the lady of this castle"

His gaze was cast down as Shinigami walked by and he nodded. " Very well. Has something occured? You seem...tense" The situation of what he just heard flooded back. Was there more than he knew? He lifted his head to look at Kronos again. " You say your world is dying?"





Rivalry...had it really gotten so far? Nasr dug through his memories, sure she was wrong, only to find he did change. He was fine following Shinigami around until the Valra and his own clan fell to Sonne's brutality. " It should not have...what have I done...so many died because I...he will tear my heart out for what I've done!" His voice echoed in the darkness and made her stop.

" Would he? ...I think he's more forgiving...than that...search the depths of my castle...and see that I have killed more"

" You are a girl. A beautiful one too. He has more mercy for you" He said while getting back to his feet.

She chuckled and tucked her hands behind her. " And you're a Nyctoran...who raised a human boy. If not for you..he too would be counted among the dead. That must...mean something" Another step was taken forward but collapsed instead.

We are back here. My son has completed the role of immortality so now we can finally come together and form our clan. With an immortal protector our kind can always exist even if we all die. We have a whole land here, let's build it up", saying that the men scattered and each went on with their lives, "oh yes did he really rally with the goddess"

" Something did happen..." Averin mumbled as he watched Shinigami vanish through the portal. Once it closed, he brought his attention forward. Everything seemed to line up well with the recorded history. " Solarium...she is ruthless. Ah! Pardon me. Yes, he has allied with the goddess of night and death. I'm afraid you'll have to wait four more days before I can introduce you to her "




The cave was destroyed from last he saw it. Cave-ins sealed the entrance and everything swayed in the heat from lava pouring from the ceiling. The only place left untouched was the area he had placed a barrier around. Still, a few scratches marred the edges of the circle. Kuroi no longer lie in the center but her blood remained. The braziers still burned with the blue fire showing she was still alive.



Back at the castle, Nasr left Kuroi's side and appeared in Keiran's room. One of the Valra turned and plowed into him, sending blankets and herbs everywhere. " What the hell is going on here?" He exclaimed while tossing a blanket off.

" The boy is ill, Nasr" Inei chided.

" Actually...he's dying" Yuuma circled round the bed and handed Nasr a few pages of his notes.

" Dyi-goodnight man! Get some sleep! You won't win any girls with eyes that dark" He grabbed one of the dragon's horns and shifted him to the door while reading the notes. Every word made his heart reach for the floor.

" But-" Nasr raised a hand to stop him then pointed towards the door. Never once did his eyes leave the paper. " Get or I will have Inei drag you out"
With a sigh, Yuuma nodded and reluctantly left the room.

I see. Then we will meet her there. Say dear where's our home", he asked her

Hearing his voice in her head, Kuroi opened her eyes and looked around her room. No one was there except his image on the ceiling. "Where are you?" She said through the link.




As Nasr flipped through the notes, Inei sat on the bed next to the boy and rested her hand on his forehead. " He's been deemed weak by the demons. There's nothing we can do but make him comfortable until he passes. "

" He is not weak!" He tossed the papers aside and glared at her before looking at Keiran. The boy was pale as a ghost. " That kid has so much strength. He had to live on the streets so the Luminaries would turn a blind eye...still he was smiling and laughing every time I checked on him"

" But the notes-"

" Damn the notes! I didn't pull him from the pile of corpses just so he could be one!" A dark aura radiated around Nasr when he slashed the air. Madness threatened to take his mind once more but he took a deep breath and exhaled. " The demons are not in him, just their poison. If Shiniga-" He looked down as he clenched his fist. What was he saying? " Look at me...upset cause everyone turns to the guy but it seems I do too. He has his own life problems. Keiran is...my kid to look after and I will save him"

What had she just heard? Inei started blankly at him while he shifted things around. " How will you save him? We don't have the same power he has" He whirled around and got in her face with a glare fierce as any demon. " Shut up, Inei! We DO have the same power just one element! So help me or get out of my way!" As he turned back around and started barking orders to the other Valra, she smiled. " Look at you...no longer the fool boy I first met. Alright, I'll help"

Oh I just need space to build a home. A lot of space for gardens and stuffs", Kronos replied
