" Who doesn't like compliments but he does seem to enjoy hitting you" With a sigh she stretched out with her back against the headboard. When the paper was placed on her, she glanced at it then to him. " Its that obvious? Why do I have the feeling you're planning something?" She said with a smile. Once he stepped through the portal, she closed her eyes and listened to the sound of a full castle.



Nasr was sitting at the edge of Keiran's bed with his head in his hands. He wore the ceremonial armor that was used in powerful rituals and spells. Hearing the name of the sun goddess made him look up though his nose and mouth stayed hidden. " Well look who's here"

The boy, still tucked in the blankets, opened his eyes and smiled when he saw Shinigami. " Hi! He needs a break" He said pointing towards Nasr. His trembling hand was quickly pulled back under the blankets. " Really? You had to say that?"

Why didn't you call my mother. She's sn expert healer", he said walking up to Keiran and feeling his forehead, "what's happened to him. I thought it was a fever from traveling without rest but for it to be this bad. It's solarium. She finally found you didn't she. Should have taken you to another continent instead of trusting Travis with my job. Im sorry", he said patting his forehead and looked to Nasr, "I know solarium is involved but I don't k ow the details"

" Another continent? Travis? What did I miss?" Keiran tipped his head and looked back and forth at them.

" Nothing...just a sleazy human" He reached back and grabbed a rag. " How did a guy like that end up with the goddess anyway?" Nasr said while wiping blood off his hands and face. The rag was kept in his hand when he sat up.

" Anyway, to answer your questions. One..." A single finger was held up. " I did not know she was a master healer. Two, Keiran is my responsibility. And finally...wha-" A few drops of blood fell on his hand. The rag was brought back up to his nose before continuing on. " Kid was following the reaper. He is awake and talking now but still in danger"

" But I feel fine!" The boy whined.

" Sure you do. You are cold as ice. Inei should be back with the hot soup soon" He shook his head at Keiran and chuckled. Yuuma's notes were grabbed and offered to Shinigami. " Details are grim. Try not to ruin them in anger. Prophet boy refused to sleep while getting that written"

Besides the curse to deny humans magic, the demons lived in every human soul. At the end of every era the 'strong' would become servants of the sun while the 'weak' would suffer slow and painful deaths. A poison of the soul that would take its toll physically.

One is if we awaken the dragon blood in him and the other is to give him the madness demon. If both don't work then I will have to make a deal with solarium, my soul for the boys. Well they're all bad ideas I can't come up with a good one since my first bad idea", he said as the chair appeared and he sat down, "Travis said I trusted everyone too much. Well I did trust him and now they are all dead. All of them. The genocide I was fighting to prevent happened even the survivors are dead. Everyone of them even the kids. And the only thing i could do was complain to the goddess that did all this. I'm not a god. Can't even save one child. This is why I try as much to make sure you guys are around me safe cause once you leave you might die and the fault lies in me. Enough moping then. I will just find another way maybe, give him a new body", he said looking down to the floor then looks up and took a deep breath, "call my mother to take care of them, I will try to find way to make that deal with solarium", he said looking over the papers again, "what about the next generation of humans"

" Only good one left? What do you mean?" Keiran questioned. Despite all the hell, innocence still resided in his eyes.

" Hold on there, kiddo. One thing first..." He focused on Shinigami with a fierce look for a few moments. " Give your soul to Solarium!? Hello in there!" Nasr stood long enough to knock on his friend's head. " That is exactly what she wants. Your mana, your life, your soul will be DESTROYED and there is no promise she will keep her end of the deal! Sure your mana could be dispersed among...well us but you would have to wait till the eclipse. Bad idea! No, nope, nada, NEVER!"

The boy started laughing so hard that he broke into a coughing fit. Each cough broke up his sentences " Your...funny. What about...Kuroi? She'll...be sad"

" What!? What do you...oh right...somebody taught you how to spy on girls. But that is not important!" The rag fell into his lap as he shook his hands to end the current path. " ok, if you want to start with an idea, begin with the least hazardous ones. Turn Yuuma into a dragon or give him the demon. I know he is overly humble about his power. Better yet how about we all think of better ideas? We have a goddess on our side after all. And trust..."

Memories flashed through the Valra's mind. Few of them were pleasant but he was rarely alone. " I say he needs to trust more. Valra are treated as poorly as humans for the most part but turning my back on those in need is wrong" A glance towards the boy made the kid beam with pride. " Yeah! You've been...like my dad!"

" Oh no! I was like 9...11 when I found you. More like big brother, ok?" He sighed and rubbed his temples. " My point is you tried. Even I agree turning on your own is wrong. He did not have to betray your trust. You could have run me through because I was a Valra but you did not, Why? So, why kill all the humans?"

More blood ran from his nose and he quickly dabbed it away. " Now, I saw plenty of city rejects running about during my hunts. You saved more kids than you think but..." Thoughts were reigned in and his focus redirected as he sat straight.

Despite the bleeding nose, something had changed in him. An aire similar to the ruling Valras and his father filled him now. " I can only say what I have read in books and scrolls. An immortal can give you the truth about the next gen of humans. If cities rise again they may face the same fate. Those born in the tribes will live a full and happy life however,...Inei said Pavol ran in here earlier. Yuuma believes this next gen of humanity will be cunning and cruel. Greed, Rage, and Fear were inspired by yours and Travis' power. They will try to build a new empire using them"

Well then. Looks like we have more to plan for. First we take care of the boy then the next humans. They can't be born unless the boy dies.....that's why solarium is targeting him. I thought why not just let him go he's the last. Maybe she was trying to strike us through him but this generation doesn't end unless he does. They want to build their empire faster. So we save Keiran and we prevent their empire. And the cruel humans to be born. Nasr, we once defeated your curse and yuumas curse. How about we take on a goddess curse one last time", he said sitting then looked at Nasr with a blank face, "why is your nose bleeding"

Nasr grinned as he pondered over that fact. A single boy, single soul preventing everything from tipping in the sun's favor. It made so much sense. Finding Keiran seemed like more than chance now which meant there had to be more that was overlooked. The crazy adventure formed into a Shulgir board within his mind and his eyes lit up as the game became clear. " This curse will be tough to be break but...seriously...you are asking about that?" He returned an equally blank, flat-eyed stare.

" It's because he pushed his limits to heal the boy. Our magic was never meant to heal" Inei chuckled from the doorway. She strode past Shinigami to place a tray in Keiran's lap. On it was a good sized bowl of soup, a few slices of lunar fruit, and strange flat, square things. " Don't burn yourself but don't let it get cold"

" Okay" He replied as he grabbed it. When he had a good hold, she sat next to Nasr who was now staring at the square objects.
" What are those?"

" Crackers" Inei stated. " Averin said humans eat them when they don't feel good."

" Looks awful..." He sneered at them and leaned away, right into Inei. She wrapped an arm around his neck and held him tight. " And our food doesn't? How will you save him?"

She was being nice or planning something. At first he tried to pull free but she held his neck well. He sighed and gave up but a smirk started to show. " Yep, I am ready to take on another curse. This has all been a game of manipulation and she left us a massive knot to untie...If Keiran is a keystone in the game then we need to find the rest and either destroy them or, I hate to say this, convert them to our side..."

The blank look rreturned as he thought of the key players they had met. Perhaps there were more they hadn't met yet but they needed a starting point. " We both know one...a foolish eclipse born...Travis" The name was terribly bitter on his tongue. " Lumerin does not foolishly bless individuals. What if you trusted him for the same reason Lumerin blessed him? First human in ages with magic, he has to be a threat to Solarium's empire. What am I saying!? We hate him!" Placing his hands on her shoulder and leg, Nasr tried to pry free again.

Oh look at them flirting. So cute. By the way some crackers are good. We are not recruiting travis. He is coming for us also another one trying to kill Keiran I think. He's not going anywhere near us. Forget the piece, let's break the game directly. The demons, how about we seal them again. Well can seal them in me and seal my body. Or seal them in the ground but their mother will release them. I'm hungry", he said looking around, "what do demons even eat"

Though he stayed focused on his food, Keiran chuckled at the statement.
" Oh, shut up...both of you" Nasr took the raven form long enough to get free. Once he reverted back, he slid a little further away from Inei. " Speaking of cute, I think you have spent WAY too much time with Kuroi. When have you been so keen on sacrificing yourself?"

" Ugh, boys! Why can't you just accept it when you love someone?" Inei sighed. She rubbed her forehead then looked at the two.

" Love? Eww..." The boy stirred his soup and kept his head down. Nasr shot a glare at her before focusing on Shinigami. " It is not the physical game I am talking about but the mental and spiritual. Seal the demons? Sure, but that only tackles half the problem. Besides, we are not sealing all of them in you. Even you would feel their influence after a time"

Indeed, flawless sealing options seemed non-existent. Whatever prison would be worn down or exploited in time. " Why not use the keys? They are in the earth but everyone knows they are very powerful" Inei said.

" Keys, you mean the one here and the other in the Spirit continent? If I recall...They already have something sealed!!"

" Yes, but the pseudo keys in the Moon and Beast continents have nothing" She looked towards Shinigami with a smile. " Sound good?"

" Wait! Let me point this out before he does. Pseudo keys...they are not real!" By now Nasr's feathers and hair had fluffed up. She reached up to straighten them out. " Exactly. They were decoys placed to confuse those who wanted to release what the other keys held. No less real, I can assure you"

What's wrong with my relationship with kuroi. Also she's right Nasr ask her out already", he said looking at both of them with a blank face , "I'm too hungry to think about which keys are real and which are not. Kuroi has answers. I will pull her through a portal hopefully she's in the bath", he said opening a portal and pulled kuroi

Before Nasr could protest or answer, the floor flooded with warm water and washed Kuroi alongside Shinigami. She followed her arm to see he held her wrist. Slowly she looked around the room to see the others. No running now, she curled up while Keiran shrieked and ducked under the blankets.

" Holy shnikes! He hit the freaking jackpot! OW!" Inei clocked Nasr upside the head and glared daggers. " Show some respect to the woman! There is still a kid here too!"

A cheesy grin showed as he glanced over the pile of blankets." If it is a problem you could help her. Keiran is hiding besides this is funny. He makes a wish and-"

" A wish!? Shinigami you-...infront of everyone?" Kuroi shifted her hair to better hide herself. " Three days dead in a cave...I really needed...why am I here?"

" You know things" Nasr stated with a massive grin. " And he is hungry" He spun his hand then gestured towards his friend. By now Inei had gotten up and draped a spare sheet over the goddess. She shot a glare like hellfire at the stubborn Valra. " I'll give you something to grin at if you don't knock it off!"

" Oh, scaaaary" He snickered.

Kuroi looked up at Shinigami for a moment then to Inei. What all did she miss and who to yell at first? " AVERIN!!"

Well now I see lumerin blessed me with some luck", he said closing the portal, "oh what should averin bring first some clothes or some food. Food I've seen kuroi like this so its no big wait there are others around so clothes. Anyway kuroi I draged you out cause I need some answers. Sorry for pulling you out I should have went through the portal instead", he said getting up to sit on the chair

" Thank you" The girls said in unison. While the sheet was pulled tighter around Kuroi, Inei grabbed another chair and helped her up before sitting by Nasr once more.

How much mischief would she face before her strength returned? A light appeared in her eyes as her mind turned. " Could have been more fun if you did join. Well you owe me for this" She cast her gaze aside as though she had lost interest but looked at him from the corner of her eye. " What do you need to know?"

The familiar breeze stirred the sheet around her ankles. " You called, my lady? Wait...why are you back so soon?"

Hand under her jaw, she looked up at the ghost. " That's not your concern. I need some clothes. Before you go see what he would like to eat and get that started, please"

" Yes...very well" He watched her with concern before turning to Shinigami.

A baby lamb please. And some clothes for her. Ones not too breezy cause it's a Lottie cold here. Thank you. Ok kuroi, I'm hearing about this keys used o seal the demons. I hear they are fake and real and I'm too hungry to think. Haven't eaten in like four days. Since I switched bodies with your sister whose I say body isn't as impressive. Also it's surprising how many men been in her room and how many of them are dead already", he said turning his seat to his throne with the stone and laid his head on his hand, "then. Where would she be now"

" Very well" The ghost bowed and started to leave. He brought his head by Kuroi and smiled. Something was said that she waved him away. " Cruel unless done right. Now get going. He's starving" Averin rushed out of the room.

It seemed like there was much she would need to answer later. " Little miss perfect wasn't perfect after all. How was life as woman?" She chuckled while sitting straight and glanced at Nasr. He was the only one who hadn't experienced life as a female.

Feeling her gaze or thoughts even, he flinched " Why are you looking at me like that?"

" No reason" She looked back to Shinigami. The way he spoke of her sister was amusing but her mind ran with the latter. " Surprising? How many..." Was it really worth knowing? She sighed and shook her head. " It shouldn't surprise me...she knew how to play their hearts like harps. A shame she knows nothing of loyalty...A-anyway it does give some insight"

" Insight? How?" Inei questioned.

" To where she may be" Kuroi replied. " With mother would have been my first answer. If she had so many guys under her thumb, I would say she'll draw more in. It's likely that she's going to bachelor groups of Tribal Luminaries. She'll prey on their young pride, arrogance, and vanity to sway them to her side"

Though the groups were many, she knew her sister a little to well. Sonne would be busy laying out the foundation for the era. Old, new, it all needed to be considered. " Travis took his...her prizes to safety. She could be checking on them and preparing them for the next round"

She tipped her head and looked into his eyes when she noticed the change. What was the purpose of these circles? " Whether he for her or not still remains to be seen. " The keys-" A set of clothing was placed in her lap. " Ah! Thanks Averin. Find a way hurry the food, will you? Can't have him withering away" She stood and looked at Inei. " You mind assisting?"

" Sure. Not going to let your guy help and give him more eye candy?" She taunted while getting up.

" And risk getting eaten? He has to catch his prey first" A smirk appeared as Kuroi strut towards a distant place in the wall.

Nasr stared and blinked a few times before the situation sank in. " Where did THAT come from?"

" Are you enjoy your games again, my lady? Time for you to be mindful" Averin chuckled.
She froze in her spot and stared off to nothing. Her face turned bright red while her heart got stuck in her throat. " I...uh...um...J-just...find a way to get his food here by the time I'm done, alright! Explaining the keys won't do any good while he's starving!"

With a chuckle, the ghost turned and left the room. " Very well, my lady"

And I've been two steps ahead of them", he said to Nasr, "if I can make clothes invisible what makes you think I didn't make a spell to make things invisible to me",he said winking as the circles glowed, "only problem is I see more than I ask more. He said watching as kuroi and inei walked away, "I should teach tuuma this spell. So why can't we kill Travis again"

" You are devil" He said with a smirk. " They will go after your sorry hide if...Heeey. Who said you could look at Inei like that?"

The she-Valra looked over her shoulder at them after holding up the sheet to hide Kuroi. " What are you boys talking about over there?"

" Huh? Nothing! Just keep being beautiful" He chuckled and smiled at her before turning back to his friend. " Anyway, I agree. You have to teach Yuuma that spell. I will pay almost any price just to see his reaction"

A sharp glance was tossed in their direction by Kuroi as she got dressed though the sheet kept it 'hidden' from them. " He was the first I gave immortality too, remember? A poor choice that was..." Once finished, she grabbed the top the sheet. The girls folded it up before returning to their seats.

" Is it...is it safe to come out now?" Keiran whimpered.

Kuroi chuckled and smiled sweetly. " It's safe but I think we should take this conversation elsewhere"
Slowly the boy peeked over the top of the covers and cautiously looked around. Once he knew it was safe, the blankets were put in his lap. " I smell something tasty"

" What? You mean your food? Finish that up squirt" Nasr said. The scent filled the room and he looked towards the door to see Averin bring the lamb in. Concern filled his face as he set it on a ghostly table before Shinigami.

" Well done, Averin. Looks and smells divine. You're more skilled than you give yourself credit for" She caught his uneasy smile as he stepped back. " You do enjoy testing my limits, my lady"
