Nasr reached out, creating a barrier of darkness but the power of the talisman ripped through it and him with ease.

" I will be fine..." Purple blood flowed down his arm and side, falling to the ground below. The arrow was embedded in the soil, glowing brightly while the runes showed circled it, turning the ground into some spirit well.

Foxfire appeared around the edges of the well or pot, dancing and laughing as they circled around it. Some flames appeared on the tips of Shinigami's feather. These made each feather feel like they were made of lead.

Clones of him made of dark mana apppeared and dark mana completely covered him. They flew around and scattered and caught up to them and kicked them down

Laughter rose from every direction now. For every flame knocked down, another would appear. Each was more active than the former, dancing and hopping about to avoid the mana as long as they could.

" You have never stayed on the defensive this long" Nasr stated while looking at the well below. A light was forming inside and music could be heard; a pleasant, steady beat reminiscent of chanting. A haze would form over their minds like a dream wanting to take hold. The wisps at the edge of the pot phased in and out, resembling a wisp one moment and a dancing, single tailed fox the next.

" I have heard of Varvatra magic...but have never witnessed it...till now..." He rubbed his face in an attempt to stay awake. The warmth in their souls grew and pulsed with the beat yet a faint pain persisted.

Each one had a special talisman now which became a collar if the fire took the form of a single-tailed fox. They giggled more with the foxes splitting in two directions. Many rushed to 'play' with his clones but turned away and took wisps in their paws and mouths. Each stared at the boys, just standing there like they were no threat. Nine others gathered above.

" How do you think you know fake from real?" A harsh tone resided in his voice as the nine foxes became a single Kitsune. The secrets of the Varvatra which the luminaries gave him during his assassination training flooded back. " Because They-agh!" He vanished from the dream when the kitsune's mask mouth opened with an Eerie cry. Whatever talisman had been attached to their souls suddenly became cold and tore them from the immediate dream.

Many voices echoed within the waking darkness in Shinigami's mind. " You're no fun to play with. Play with a Kerberol or Grigorvelik. They are serious like you" A new dream formed around Shinigami, setting him on the peak of a mountain. Any land was shrouded by a flow of clouds. Nasr was nowhere to be found and the only sound were the winds rushing past him.

Is that enough”, he said looking at his body, “yes good”, he said breaking into his fourth form. He disappeared and appeared back there, “missed me?”, he said as a talisman the size of the dream fell on them

The foxes dispersed in a puff of fire and giggled. " He fell for it as everyone does" One's voice floated on the air. " Too focused on his goals to miss the important details"

"If only his Valra friend had told him before he woke" Another whispered. " Go away now and enjoy your sleep" The fox fire vanished one by one as their dream realm returned to the peaceful scene he had first seen. This time no Kitsune were around just like when the talismans first appeared.

The Valra staggered briefly while holding his head. " Asleep, awake, asleep...just pick one!" He grumbled. He shook his head and lower his hands when the pain passed. " Mana hungry are you? Fine...fine. I will stand guard" His back was turned when he began to wander the area.

Talismans were everywhere. Hung in trees, tied to stones, and more. No dark spirit or demon could possible get through but what of a god? His beak was turned to the sky with that single thought. Solarium was sure to be hunting them now.

He began to gather all the mana towards himself. The wind blew along and the earth shifted. Boulders a pillars appeared and fire began to flow through the ground. The chaos caused more mana to flow out which he absorbed into himself. He sat in a meditating stance and his skin began to mix with the mana. It stoped as rings formed around them like rainbows.

Feathers added to the fire while Nasr took to the air, a panicked caw drowned in the new chaos which sprang forth. Rainbow mattered little when he saw the eyes. His heart ceased while his blood quivered in her eerie gaze. Everything felt wrong, more terrifying than dealing with the demon Fear.

Higher still, a single light flashed and shattered the dream like glass. Blood seeped through every crack, pouring forth when a shard fell away. He clutched at his heart and found it faint. Fear cackled within his mind while Rage laughed in Shinigami's mind. " His power...is granted...by the One...his price...order..." Fear said to Nasr.

A shift in mana separated the two with a wall of blood. He reached to the blood and watched as the flesh peeled from his bones. " What just happened"

" You have proven...exceptional" A strange voice answered. " You and the human shall be preserved when the time comes. Follow my guidance for you shall be the next to rise" light swallowed him, removing him from the dreams once more.

He kept on not moving. He dreams became like his own personal temple and began to form when he opened his eyes, “hmmm nasr”, he said as everything crumbled, “hmmm what’s with the wall”

No answer came but the blood spread across the ground. Ice formed at its edges and any trace of life withered away when it got too close. Should he listen, whispers might be heard from it though impossible to discern any words.

" The dream realm is dying" The voice of a young boy stated from behind him. " You have nothing to fear. Our lord has seen great potential in you"

More blood splashed to the ground when larger shards fell away. Pavol folded his tail and looked up with an unusual calm. " The poison within the dreams has begun to spread. I suggest waking before you can no longer"

One hand was raised defensively when he stepped closer. Pavol sneered and took a step back but once Shinigami vanished from the dreams, his noble stance returned. " Everyone knows my name, fool" He said while straightening his jacket. " Don't act like you know me beyond name" His body became as light and shot to the sky.





The house was quiet and Kuroi was nowhere to be seen. Everything appeared normal, left as they were when he had fallen asleep. Orange and pink gossamer rays of light reached through the windows, desperately clinging to the last of their life. Just beyond them resided a fancy hourglass. Crystal sand was filtering to the bottom into a perfect little dome. In a split second, a shadow ran past the window. The hourglass faded but returned when the light touched the spot once more.
