" His mother?" He rubbed a horn as he recalled that day. " It is likely that she did survive." The book was closed with care and set on the table. " I can look for in the dreams. Not now, the thought of missing an adventure Is too much" Such a gentle and carefree smile he had while he picked up the dragon tooth necklace before him. He put it around his neck before picking up the bag by his side.

" Kuroi had me pack some strange objects so we can barter for info in the water city." A large shell was removed from the bag and held up so he could see. Other objects of varying natures stayed hidden. " It's amazing how something like this can hold so much value to some"

A heavy silence lingered in the link for a time. She knew they would come for her but the extent of what he shared burned like fire. "I can show you what guards it but you will need to keep warm" Her mind sparked with considerations of where to hide but panic was non existent.

Kurou, don't put your heart sonewhere obviouse", he replied back to the link then sat down

"Well let her get what she wants. She might need them or we might", he said as Tobi handed him a book

"Perhaps obvious is the answer" The idea she had now felt secure but perhaps foolish. No was all that might be heard as she convinced herself to reconsider.

" She said would need them" The shell was placed back in the bag before he got up. His curiosity got the better of him as stepped closer to see what book Shinigami held.
Within the silence, Kuroi spoke again. "Pavol is awake. He shall join you soon"

Make it now", he said to her through then looked at pavol, "Tobi hates when he's disturb so could you take that step back. The dude doesn't even let me get chicks. He's a walk to guys like me that want to spend time with women", he said as Tobi warped him in blankets again and put him upside down , " and he's mad, hey how am I supposed to read when my arms aren't free", he said then the book floated to his view. It was on soul magic, "this again, I'm not doing it", he said then the book hit his head, "fine I will at least read it", he said as he began reading

" Oh, of course.." He lowered his head and grinned at the sight when he stepped back. "Heheh, a possessive spirit. What if you sent him out so you could-ahhh!!" A portal opened above him and Pavol fell through. The boy grabbed Yuuma's horns, pulling him to backwards to the floor. Shells, crystals, ancient fragments, and more scattered across the floor. " What in... oh hi Pavol"

The boy groaned as he sat up and knocked a crystal away with his hand. It skittered across the floor until it ran into a cabinet. " Why must it always be darkness..." He lifted his head and blinked at what he saw. The sight of Shinigami wrapped up made him laugh. " You angered your ghost again. What did you do this time?"

" Nothing...I think. Tobi is just being a mother hen to the poor guy" Yuuma said picking up the stuff. " Anything we can do to help you get some time with girls?" His face turned red at the thought.
" This isn't about an adventure then?" White feathers were pressed to the floor in dissapointment.

Laugh it all out", he said looking to te boy, "I almost forgot how shy you are around wonen. Well anyway sol get out here and give them the info you told me. The important ones like the ones on the demons and kuroi.", he sad

Wait kuroi where are we going again", he asks we trough the link

" I don't need that info! I was there!" Pavol stated as stood proud and half fanned his tail. It twitched when the first comment sank in. " I will laugh because that ghost will keep you from spying on Kuroi. Hey what if her ghost caught you? You would be in so much trouble" He raised his hands and snickered.

" That was uncalled for young man! I'm shocked to hear you talk like that" A light appeared behind the cowering boy and took the shape of Sol. His arms were crossed as he glared at his son.
" But I...I..." Fear shattered off Pavol who abruptly pointed at his dad. " What are you doing here!? I can't have a ghost ruining my life too!"

"He bound us together and you need someone to keep your manners in line!" They stared eachother down until Pavol stuck his tongue out, turned his back, and plopped his rear to the ground.

With him silenced, Sol turned to Yuuma who had buried his face in the bag. The light built in the Luminary's hand until a few pages appeared. " What you need to know is here."
The dragon tipped his head so he look with one eye. He nodded and took them once he saw them.

Was he really that tired to forget or just too stressed? Either way Kuroi smiled. "We are going to the City of Water. You said you wanted to deal with the easy city first" Everything seemed good and everyone was gathered except for her. She could move the heart later. Another portal appeared in the doorway and she stepped forth to witness the chaotic scene.

Averin and I are good friends", he said then looked at her, "you're really stubborn. I just told you to take care of it. Nasr is the only one to protect it and he is too weak right now", he said to her through the link then looked at sol, "ok first the illusion. So turns out pavol never had fear. And I almost killed him cause I thought he did", he said with a sorry grin, "well all in the past. Yuuma here had been taking care of him so thank h later. Now explain their plan one last time. The big idea behind years of slaughtering. The idea to make the luminary the only race alive. If you think that's not what he wants then you're wrong"

"Only one? The entire Varethar clan is here and Averin. It shall be fine and gives you more time to rest later" She smiled before focusing on the others but her mind wandered to the water city. If all went well she hoped for a bit of rest for herself.

One page was flipped behind the the next as Yuuma scanned over them; comparing what he heard to what was written. " Much to dream about. The plan looks fragmented and the final goal appears..."

" Petty" Sol stated. Before saying more he nodded at Shinigami to acknowledge the apology. " I agree. It's more than just Luminaries that will be spared. Those deemed perfect will survive" The drill of perfection was exact and brutal. Memories of what occured when he turned 16 flooded back. He rested his head on his shoulder until he realized how old Shinigami appeared. " You, don't set foot in any city when you turn 16. Only return when you reach 17"

Once more Yuuma turned bright red. He blocked his face with his hand and slowly looked away. " Y-Yeah...my parents told me the same thing...not that I was allowed in the cities..." He cleared his throat then continued. " My mistake was I asked why...so please don't ask"

" Moving on" Sol said quickly. " All tribes will be wiped out. The gods destroyed and new ones born from my line and the High Luminary's line. Shinigami's race is to be parted for mana" He looked towards Kuroi. The power that he felt proved this was the goddess he heard so much about. " You will be their downfall but he has laughed at the notion"

The same thing Shinigami had told her earlier. Of course he would laugh, he had proven their power but it was no joke to her. Or was it? "You're right, I am stubborn and confident in our skills" She said through the link. Her thoughts returned to hiding the heart. Should they find the castle then every relic and book would be searched. The demons had been dug from the world many times so no place was safe there. It left only her insane idea. She glanced back at Shinigami. "My turn to test you" She thought.

Sol continued while she retreated into her mind. "All will bow to the Luminaries as we 'provide' security to them from the darkness that is being placed into the Valra. I don't know the entire plan but as this young man has said, it feels fragmented" He held his hand out towards Yuuma.

Thank you for explaining so much", he said as the blankets cleared away and he landing sitting on the bed even though he was upside down, "we are going to the water city. I know you don't leave your city much so I won't ask much", he said as Tobi went on to grab his bag, "anyway, like I said. I'm not the strongest in my kind. Do I plan to be?, well if that's happens along the way to my goal then yes. All I'm saying is that I would rather get rid of the problem that would endanger their lives and both are here. But they aren't the real goal, the high luminary isn't. Compared to my real goal, the high luminary is just a dog, one that bites.", he said as he was almost lost in thought then looked back up to them, "I'm sorry about what I'm about to do to your kind", he said to sol and pavol, "some of them can't be allowed their high ground anymore", he as

The last item was put in Yuuma's bag as he looked up. " The only target greater than the High Luminary would be a god"

" He just thinks there is something greater" Pavol scoffed. " The Luminary is the master of the cities. He rules them, says where to build them, and other stuff" Forced to acknowledge something beyond his wounded pride, he saw that he was sitting on floor. "Yek!" He scrambled so fast to his feet that Yuuma raised a hand to prevent them from colliding.

City to the core the way Pavol dusted himself off. A trait that stung at Sol's heart and made him chuckle. He turned to Shinigami. " I understand. My son may ignore you for a time but I am not them" The glow around him got brighter until it swallowed him up.

The boy looked around once he finished brushing off the dust. Nothing but the living was visible and he smiled. " Hah! My ghost will me alone" It felt perfect to rub it but Shinigami's freedom was a bitter reminder of Tobi's will. " Why can't he stop you from destroying the towers!?"

A gentle hand was placed on the boy's shoulder. He looked up to see Kuroi. " You shall understand someday" Her eyes quickly shifted to look at Shinigami. "You were listening this time. I want you to land a few hits on someone." The opponent she had in mind was no base target. No one had landed a hit on him on them either. Yet something he said gave her a new idea. "I could have them craft a more suitable trial"

Knowing them some would ignore what's going on", he said to her through the link. He stood up and pick up his bag, "Tobi doesn't reall have a business with the towers. I bet he hates them cause they destroy the landscape. He will help me out with it", he said to pavol then walked to the window, "hmm kuroi, we are ready. So are we going by dragon, fix or", he said as darkness began to cover the window and the whole room, "teleport us to a spot close to the city tower. I decided we should get two today"

Everything he knew about to be destroyed two fold. Pavol clenched his fists and started to glow when the darkness covered the room.

" Adventure is full of loss but in it we learn, grow, and find something better" Kuroi said while walking between the three. The darkness was peeled away to reveal a grand sight. The city of water was stretched out before them with its canals cutting through it and pools dotted about. The sea embraced the western half of the city while jungles and falls shrouded the other half.

They had been placed at the top of some falls that was apart of the city's edge. The roaring waters left a cool and sweet smelling mist in the air around them. Such a sight filled Yuuma with joy. He rushed to the edge of the falls, keeping his footing despite the slick stone, and stared out with wonder. " Wow! If this is beautiful with the city I can only imagine how it was before"

There was no denying the wonder of where Kuroi placed them. Even the tower stood as a burning diamond in the light before them. Pavol stood slack jawed and wide eyed, relaxing as he admired it. The moment he realized how high they were he shuddered. " How are we supposed to get down?"

Kuroi chuckled as she took her jacket off and rested it on the stone. " You can answer that yourself. Yuuma and I are the only ones who should be asking that. I have my ways though" She looked at Shinigami and backed to the edge. " Satisfied?"

Yes. Very much", he said then look down, "hey pavol, do you want to know the step o took to get my confident. It's easy really, I jumped", he said then jumped down the fall. As he went down Tobi followed with his bag. A light guardian appeared and turned into angle wings that stopped his fall

How fearlessly he jumped impressed Kuroi. Few were so bold. She looked over her shoulder to watch the guardian give him wings. " Show off but he caught on quick" She let herself fall over the edge backwards. Unlike him, she didn't bring out her wings, diving past him and into the water below.

" But I can't fly!" Pavol shouted after them.
" I can't fly either." Yuuma said as he backed up from the edge. " But the rush you get from jumping like that is worth it!" His eyes turned bright blue seconds before he sprinted forward and lept from the edge.

" H-he just...but" Leaning over the edge only tied the boy's guts in knots. He whimpered softly as he shifted back and forth. " I can't do it! I'll die...I-I can get down a different way" Closing his eyes and standing still, he tried to use the light to warp to the bottom. His fear held his focus though and denied him the power.

" Pavol, your not alone. Let me be your wings" That voice, a comfort in death as it was in life. He peered over the edge again to see Shinigami safely gliding along. What would he think if he didn't jump? Finally he took a deep breath and jumped. Such a rush was grand in the dreams but now he screamed as he fell, expecting the end. The light took form of a peacock to catch Pavol. Silent now, he looked up with tears in his eyes. " Thanks dad...I guess having a ghost is a good idea"

Of course it's no a bad idea do you not that having a ghost by you reduces your chances of dying by height", he said looking up, "I was going to catch him", he said landing and the wings disappeared, "ok now I'm awake. Let's do this"

" He didn't know that. His first scare beyond Valra and darkness" Sol glided a little further ahead to set Pavol down then faded away. The kid's legs shook as staggered to the side of a building.

A little further down, Yuuma surfaced and gasped for air. The bag was tossed onto the stone as he swam for shore. " That was fun! Let's do that again!"

" No...no I would rather destroy a tower..." Pavol clutched at his rapid beating heart and slid to the ground. Eyes wide as he looked about. " Where's Kuroi?"

" Huh? Well she should of been here..." Yuuma looked back into the water but saw nothing. He pulled his hair out of face as he looked towards them. " Did you see her up there, Shinigami?"

I definitely saw her jump down and hit the water before me.....ok I will ish her out", he said then jumped in the water and began looking for kuroi, "so when were you going to surface",he said to her through the link

" He volunteered quickly..." Yuuma said looking into the water.

The water was a bit murky from natural setiment but clear. Bubbles and the current from the falls were all that made it tricky to see. "When I wanted which means by the tower. Most of the water flows there. Actually I should be asking you what took so long" Her laughter could be heard through the link. Further down the current than Yuuma had been, a shadow could be seen swimming about. "Destroy the tower first then enjoy the city later right?"
