So I'm showing up back to RPing after not doing so for a while, and looking for new partners again. This time I have a twofer for everyone, a sci-fi and a high fantasy setting. Theres *alot* of background details to go into so I'll mostly go over the defining characteristic of each setting and my personal roleplaying style (though you can find more on my account if need be.) Having said that theres also the cuddle roleplaying "genre" I guess, and if thats something you'd prefer to focus on you can just skip the settings entirely because I'm down for doing cuddle roleplays without fantasy or sci-fi aspects too.
Both settings are designed to be "modular", or fit different peoples ideas into them with lots of room to add original stuff, as long as it jives well thematically with the other elements.
So first, the Voidlands setting. Its a middling hardness sci-fi setting, where most of the things in it are scientifically explainable but with a few completely nonscientific things thrown in that are basically just magic to make it more fun. Usually the main thematic elements of the first part of its timeline is transhumanists vs. human-centric factions, with the three main factions being:
- The Ascendancy, a religious cult based around machine worship and technological transcendance
- The Directorate, a loose coalition of governments with the stated goal of preserving and furthering humanity, which rigidly restricts artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, and cloning as threats to the natural existance of humanity
- Cyril Aldyrax, an ancient kingdom originally from earth, now merely refugees fleeing human civilization aboard massive motherships following their defeat in World War 3. Aldyraxian civilization heavily utilizes biotechnology and artificial intelligence, and everybody believes they are long dead, as they keep just outside of the colonized sphere using advanced technology to remain ahead of humanity.
Of these, Cyril Aldyrax is the main faction. Aliens will show up later too but shhh dont tell anyone I said that.
So some key setting details include:
- The scale is fairly limited, at the start the largest warships are only around 300 meters long, and colonized space is only a sphere of about 100 lightyears.
- The scale of the setting gets larger with time, with the largest warships at later points in the timeline being about 3 kilometers in length (though these are outliers), and similarly the setting gets more fantastical and advanced with time.
- I put alot of work, I mean, alot of work, into designing ships, so if you're into designing ships then that is something this setting is specifically for alot of the time.
- Although "Directorate" is listed as a faction, as its actually a coalition of many factions, so theres many "unmentioned" factions. While I have some specific ideas for some of them, this is mostly to provide more room for other peoples factions or ones that fit into the plot to be invented.
- There is no faster than light travel, but artificial wormholes exist. However, artificial wormholes require a wormhole node at both sides, and so expansion beyond the existing network is limited to sublight speeds.
- Alien life is either nonexistant or limited to relatively primitive life... however, this could possibly be flubbed a little bit should a character require it.
Now some caveats: For a voidlands rp to work, my partners character would most likely need to either be part of cyril aldyrax, work closely with them, or else be in constant contact with them as thats the faction I am always part of. The Ascendancy and Directorate are more of enemy factions than they are intended to be fully fleshed out factions to play as.
Now for details on the heartlands setting:
Theres alot of major races in heartlands, theres this whole giant text document regarding all of them thats too large to share here. But the main things of note is all of them are vaguely human, but none of them are described as "humans", "elves", "dwarves", etc. this is because tis supposed to be vague if they're just different ethnicities, or different species.
Some of the races, just in brief, however, include "part-dragon people", "Moon-worshipping people woh live in mountains or underground", "tree-huggers with forest magic", "Muscular imperialists with metallic skin", among others.
So some key setting details:
- The Heartlands the setting is named after is a large, almost entirely uninhabited region in the center of the major continent which is host to a large amount of magical and arcane activity
- Most nations hug the coastlines, and exist as old, stagnating empires.
- Magic usage is non-hereditary and non-innate among all major races, and all of them have equal capacity to use magic, however, it cannot be taught either and must be discovered on your own. Magic usage has declined greatly over the past millenia, but is suddenly seeing a resurgence for *mysterious* reasons.
And of course some caveats: It's at times been difficult to start a Heartlands rp, and I dont necessarily have a story for it. Having said that, I have had fun RP's in the setting before and hope to again!
So now some information about my roleplaying style and genre (apart from setting, that is)
- First, I dont reliably write paragraphs. I will sometimes, for sure, especially during action scenes. But during dialogue, I will commonly respond with just one or two lines. I just dont know how to stretch out basic conversation that much. Depending on the person, I can either go for long-form RPs with one post a week, or short-form RP's with posts every minute, or (my favorite) switching between the two depending on how much detail is needed for a section.
- I mostly do what I would describe as "aimless adventuring" rp's in fantasy and sci-fi. While I have developing story threads, theres no real narrative focus and its mostly just sorta "and then they wandered here and some new stuff happened". Partially because of this, its best if the characters can get along with eachother and stay near eachother perpetually, or else we'll quickly end up in a place where we dont know how to continue.
- I like to see tangible character growth skill and strength-wise as an rp progresses. Especially in fantasy rp's I prefer starting out as "skilled but not like supernaturally so or anything" and trend towards ever-increasing amounts of power and ability. As part of this I prefer to start off with no magic and gain magic later.
- Other than adventure focused RP's, I will do heavily cuddle focused roleplays. Which is exactly what it sounds like, sometimes people ask me to explain and I never know what to say.
- I love, love, love cute siblings! Cute, cuddly siblings are pretty much my favorite thing to rp. This includes in fantasy and sci-fi settings, hybrid "cuddle-adventure" roleplays are great fun and help balance it out (since you can change what your roleplaying based on mood and what fits at the time). Despite the sci-fi and fantasy aspects listed everywhere else, if you just want to do a cuddle roleplay with no sci-fi or fantasy I'm completely game for that.

Magic may be accepted as truth but is not common. It might be harnessed only by specific beings. Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones.
Modern
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
No romance at all will be included in this plot, period.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred. Will be played one-on-one.
Ello! I'm totally down to do something, since this all looks super interesting to me.
