O ~ Over There
I really like this short-lived one-season FX TV series! I based my soldier character Sgt Silas on the namesake in the series. In hindsight, 2004 was “too soon” for a military tv series of the 2001 Iraq war and the constant changing of the time-slot on the FX cable channel of the 13 episodes coupled with the frequent pre-empting of episodes by local free-to-air Fox stations that carried it spelled doom for the series almost from the outset. FX repeatedly decreased the production budget after the initial first few episodes to nearly non-existent for the finale, but the producers did a wonderful job with what they had to bring us a reasonably realistic depiction of the war with a good helping of character development and drama in such a short run.
