Hi everyone!
This is a Contest initially posted in the Art & Creativity Forum, and I've taken the initiative of adding it here as well because I don't want anyone to miss this!!!
This is a DESIGN CONTEST for the fantasy world Tam’nýer-a’. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
We are hosted on the wonderful RPR, and usually our contests are for members only, so this is a bit different from our usual fair and we cannot wait to share it with you!
Tam’nýer-a’ is a pretty vast homebrew fantasy world, primarily developed by yours truly with help from multiple people, whether by someone making a flora or fauna and submitting it, or by merely asking a question and prompting inspiration. This contest follows that same theme as this contest is for you to design either a plant, be it a fruiting tree or flower, or a creature, either land or sea dwelling - or heck - both! The design is totally 100% up to you.
Here’s a more in depth breakdown of what we are looking for in your entry:
Whatever you design can have multiple uses, in fact, I encourage it. That being said, if you want to design something that is considered sacred, please explain its link to a God or Goddess of Tam’nýer-a’. If this idea tickles you fancy, you can check out the deities of Tam’nýer-a’ here and you can pick whichever one catches your eye the most.
Guidelines
Now that we’re through with that part - what’s in it for you?!
Here’s a list of prizes - wait, prizeS? Yup! There will be one grand prize winner, but if there’s enough entries and we like your idea enough to add it to the lore, we will have two runner ups!
Here’s the breakdown:
Grand Prize
Runner-ups
Please submit your entries here as a part of this thread, and if you'd like to as well, you are free to PM your entry as well. This goes for questions too!
Thanks everyone & good luck!

Here’s a more in depth breakdown of what we are looking for in your entry:
- Fauna or Flora, it must be ‘touched’ somehow; e.g., bioluminescent, minor magical effect
- Whatever you choose to do, it has to be 100% original designed by you
- Art & a write-up to explain your design are required
Whatever you design can have multiple uses, in fact, I encourage it. That being said, if you want to design something that is considered sacred, please explain its link to a God or Goddess of Tam’nýer-a’. Guidelines
- Art can be whatever medium, so long as the background of the image can be made transparent in order to add it to the group lore
- You can submit multiple entries if you so choose, but not win multiple prizes so as to ensure that multiple people can win
- Prizes will only be given out, and entries applied if we have a minimum of 6 participants
- Because this includes art, I am asking that commercial rights be given as I am planning to do a lore book in the future

WRITE-UP EXAMPLE
If I have your attention and you're interested, here's an example of a basic fauna in Tam'nýer-a' (don't worry you don't need a youtube link, this is just ripped from the group lore):
Wôrdiţ (w-uh-a-r-dee-tz)
Used in Mountain's Crösse (a poison)
Used for Trading, Farming & Transportation. Teeth are also used for dentures.
Used for food in different ways, depending on where you are
The Wôrdiţ is a deer-like species sporting reddish brown hides and four spindly legs that are good for galloping at fast speeds. Unlike most species on Earth, both the Males and Females of the Wôrdiţ grow horns. An example of this can be seen below.
They can measure anywhere from 4.5 - 7.75 feet in length and weigh 243 - 677 lbs.
The species prefer to eat reeds as they provide a high protein count and therefore must eat less in a shorter amount of time to become full. This also makes them grazers as they must feed throughout the day in order to stay healthy. When it comes to hydration, however, the Wôrdiţ are exceptionally equipped to handle droughts as their throats are lined with glands which naturally absorb some of the water that they drink to save it for later. Due to this, a Wôrdiţ can last 4-6 days without water intake.
Males become sexually mature anywhere during the period of being 3 to 4 years of age, while the Females of the species can become pregnant any time after their first year. There is no specific breeding season for the Wôrdiţ, however, with a recent study it has been found that they are more likely to copulate during the ever changing raining seasons. We can only assume that this is due to the prosperity of lush grasslands supplying an ample amount of food for them. Unfortunately, while potentially being coerced by nature's rain to breed, the gestation period is 6 months, when the rains may have stopped entirely.
This precarious risk is exploited by the Humans as they can keep track of multiple families and when the creature is in need with a new calf, they can take them in and begin the domestication process. It is true that over a third of the creature population is domesticated and used for trading, farming, and transportation, but without these animals, civilization would be tested.
It should be noted however that the Wôrdiţ, while used as working animals by most of civilization, the Ãoni feel an affinity for the Wôrdiţ, treating them as though they were pets as well as a working part of the family. Though with the Ãoni living cliff side, they will have a small herd of Wôrdiţ per colony, permitting them the reign of the land to graze as they please, whilst keeping them in a pen during the night under supervision to keep them safe.
A Wôrdiţ in the wild, their life expectancy is up to 10 years, while life in captivity is roughly 14.
