Y/C is her best friend. He/She knows about the burn scars (see the info on her page in the spoiler tags), and has stuck with her for at least 4 years, if not more. When alerted of the news, he/she heads over to the dormitory the quiet girl is staying again; only to open the door and see her ripping the place apart.

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
