Dungeons and Dragons is not content to simply be a fantasy setting and as such there are several different sub-genres including horror. The horror sub-setting is called "Ravenloft" and while not many people seem to have heard of it, those who have love the setting with ferocity.

What I would like to propose is a Ravenloft game, characters being played as "outsiders" people who have been taken by the mists into Ravenloft seemingly without purpose (or perhaps with a crystal clear purpose.) Each character would run the risk of death, dismemberment and madness. The game will be violent and terrible.

Three to four players who are willing to play an in-depth game like "Two Sides of the Same Coin (back)" run by The Dungeoneer. Players will be asked to post once every two days or more (as needed) and to inform of any pending absences. There is no post minimum or maximum, but it does help you like to write long posts.

The setting allows for fantasy and Steam-punk depending on where the characters travel, but until the game begins, I am not certain that it will get there.

In order to play, characters must be from a D&D setting, but not Ravenloft. They can be human, elf, half-elf, dwarf, halfling, gnome, but I will be restricting calibans/half-orcs and Vistani as characters will be outsiders. Any class from the base classes is allowed and with permission others will be allowed. Character sheets will be required, but it is easy to make one using this, and if you have any confusion about terms, D20SRD is a valuable tool with a search function. Please do not take equipment, weapons or armour. These will be granted during play. If you take a Ravenloft centered feat, please make sure that it would still apply to an outsider.

Dice will be rolled as "standard" and you may reroll if you get anything less than 9. 9+ is valid. I trust you won't cheat. Once you create a character, I will be sending you a list of questions privately that I will keep for myself. You are welcome to put whatever you would like on the profile, but remember that you might not want to give away your darkest secrets.

I do not expect the players to be forced to make this canon, especially in the case of character death. What happens in Ravenloft, will stay in Ravenloft.

Ravenloft, really? ;u; It's been forever since I've played in that setting. You're right though - it's pure fun. I'd love to pop in this one too, but I'd hate to be taking up space for some other potential player that, well, isn't me...

You're a spectacular roleplayer if you have me practically bouncing at the thought of potential horror adventures "DM'd" (Idk if you'd call it DMing if it's through text rp?? I dunno.) by you.

Well I'm totally in... unfortunately with my work schedule I had to give up a regular-ish game of Ravenloft over a month ago (tabletop) so it'd be great to get back into the setting! Horror and madness ahoy! XP

I think he's going to be fairly heal/buff heavy in combat, and more of a RP friendly character.

MatRatBird, I think I can safely say you will not be taking someone else's place. I don't suspect there will be too much interest in this. You are welcome to join or not join as you please, but don't feel afraid to take someone else's place.

@Krieg_005, the character looks good. As stated in the first post, starting gold and equipment is not an issue as it will be granted during play. The character looks great and I simply have 13 questions for you to answer for the character that I will PM to you.

I've been in a couple D&D campaigns before, but never Ravenloft. Sounds like fun! I'll definitely generate a character today~

I was going to use my own 3.5 generator, but the Ravenloft one looks to be more interesting~ I shall create a character very, very shortly.

If you haven't seen, the thread is up in the group I send you invites to. You only get access to what you would have in bed - a blanket, a pillow, a nightgown/nightshirt, maybe a book or stuffed animal.

Also, as far as languages go, your first will be common. You can take any non-Ravenloft specific language as the bonus languages, or you can save it for your first Ravenloft-centric language.
