(Same to you )
She whimpered and squirmed until she fell out of his arms, but rather than stopping, she walked right next to him. She just didn't want him to smell like horse crap once they got somewhere with people.

He gave a slight chuckle at her insistence. It was... cute, to say the least.
It had already began to drizzle and the sky was slowly shifting from it's beautiful blue hue to one more monochrome. It was soothing, albeit a bit dreary, and it reminded Malus of something he'd been meaning to ask. "Natalia, I'm sure you know much about me, being king n' all, but I still don't know much about yourself. Care to elaborate a little?"

The shark/fox girl shivered a bit when it started to drizzle but said nothing of it.
"M-more about me?" she asked with a whimper, "I-I've already told you all that there is to know about me... I've lived in that village as long as I can remember. I was kicked out of the orphanage when I was little... I can't remember why but I haven't eaten a hot meal or slept in a bed since then..." she thought for a minute before adding, "I've also got healing powers."

"Healing powers, huh?" Malus seemed surprised, also taking notice of how cold she seemed. As he looked her over, the rain seemed to ease up a little and any sparse rain drops to hit them felt much warmer than before. "I have a friend with some healing powers... Nice man, that one. Pastor of the church, n' all that. I've always wondered how those healing powers worked..."
"I'd tell you if I knew... But I don't know anything except that I can heal anything that's as bad as a slight bone fracture or a twisted ankle. Nothing bigger than that... I know... I've tried on myself a lot..." she looked away. He couldn't see it through her fur, but right now her arms, legs and back were sorta like one big bruise. It was another reason why she didn't want him to hold her: it hurt too much to be touched.
She would remain silent as well until they reached Malus' desired location.
It took the two of them quite some time to reach their destination, the sky now painted red with the hues of the setting sun; but when Malus and Natalia had finally reached the closest guard barracks they could find, they happened to stumble upon a scene most horrendous...
The small tower that consisted of the barracks was in ruins, black smoke billowing out from it's top; the corpses of scorched and mutilated guards were strewn about everywhere. Some of the men had even been decapitated, their heads impaled upon stakes and set up in rather obscene ways, as if to deliver a death threat to anyone passing by. They were ambushed. Not even these royally trained guards could conquer their attacker, whoever it might have been; and by the looks of it, no one was spared...
"Damn it..." Malus cursed under his breath. His looked at the destruction with sheer outrage and frustration, unable to comprehend why anybody would wish this upon his kingdom. It almost looked as if he was going to cry. However, that feeling only lasted a moment before he spotted a shadow moving just inside the tower; and he was pretty damn sure it wasn't a rabbit this time. He readied his sword in case it was more foe than friend.

(Should I control said shadow or you?)
Natalia let out a whimper and hid behind Malus. The smell of blood was terribly in her especially sensitive nose and the metallic, sweet smell made her want to vomit.
"I-it was them again..." she said and pointed to one of the corpses, who had an imperial spear through his chest. It was a Bear man, wearing the pelt of a feral wolf over his shoulders and head. He had bright red war paint on his cheeks and there was a rather vicious looking axe still clutched in his clawed hand.

(I do believe you shall, please. )
All Malus could muster was a vicious, "Stand ground." as his eyes darted from the corpse to the tower and back again.

"M-my king?" came the hoarse voice of a young man. A Cheetah boy, only a couple years older than Natalia, a squire, came out o f the shadows. He had an axe stuck in his shoulder and his yellow fur stained with blood.
"Th-they came out of nowhere... They killed everyone..."

Malus looked shocked, but quickly dropped his sword to rush over and help the poor squire.
"By Martyr's blood..." He gasped at the sight of the boy's wound. He helped to ease the boy down so that he was sitting in a reasonable position, helping to hold him up as he examined the axe within his shoulder. "N-natalia, can you help me with this...?"

Natalia nodded and rushed over, "W-what should I do?!"
The cheetah whimpered and closed hi eyes in pain. "I-I'm sorry my king... They were vicious. They got through all our defenses and formations like they were nothing," he looked up at the king and then down at his shoulder. It was in almost all the way up to it's hilt and it was a wonder that his arm was even on his body, since the axe had sliced right through his collar bone.

"You did well..." Malus reassured him, still examining the wound, "I-I don't know if I'll be able to get this thing out without killing you... Natalia, how well did you say your powers can heal?" He pressed, a plan forming in his head.
"Not that much... I can't fix his arm to put it back together... I-I can stop the bleeding if you get his arm off... Maybe I can make fur even cover it again, but I can't do anything else..."
"Alright, good. Good... What I need you to do is stand by him and be ready to heal the wound as soon as I remove the axe, alright? Alright." He patted the young squire's shoulder, "Breath deep, boy." Malus prepared himself, standing up to grip the axe at the right angle, then precisely yet forcefully yanked at it. His strength made it an easy task to pull out, but as soon as he did, the squire began to bleed profusely.
"YOU NEEDED TO TAKE OFF HIS ARM!!!" Natalia let out a whimper, "I can't heal it with the rest of his arm still on, I just said that!!!"
(This wasn't clear? " I-I can stop the bleeding if you get his arm off" ?

(I suppose I had just misread it, then... It sounded more like I had the choice between ripping his arm off or not, so I went with the one that was less painful sounding. I'm sorry, I guess I just misread it to be one thing when it was the other...)
