"What, he's been here for less than an hour and he's ordering my men about already?" he muttered to himself. God or not, Achimedeus valued courtesy in a man. "Take me to Ornlu, then," he said to Nomti. "Why does she want to speak to me? Am I a delegate now?"
"Petsuchos can't speak. He can't fight very well in close range against more than a couple of enemies, so I gave him an escort while he patrols. He wears a crown that can shoot concentrated sun or moonlight in a burning ray from a crown on his head," Nomti explained, "He's the deadliest being you'll ever find at a range, and still deadly up close since he's a really really big crocodile, but there's still only so much he can do."
Nomti led the way back onto the sand before answering about Ornlu, "Well, seeing as you're the highest in Greek command... Here anyways, Ornlu would just like to speak. She wants to know if you have any plans on where to go."

"What, pray tell, is the role of this Ornlu?" And what should he say on the topic of plans? He had not planned for more than today, not due to neglect of responsibility but because everything was too uncertain. "Does she have any suggestions of her own as to determining a destination? I know of nowhere to go that is safe or will lead us to discover a way to undo what has occured. Anything could happen at any moment."
"She might. She didn't divulge anything to me since I'm not technically the leader... Human relations would probably be a better term for my role."
He nodded curtly and approached the wolf at a respectful distance, kneeling upon the sand. "I am General Achimedeus of Athens. You summoned for me?" He did not address her formally since he was unsure of what title to use. Goddess?
"Stand, general," she said. Ornlu was a very large wolf, as tall as Achimedus at her shoulder and she had a long, sleek body with fur similar to that of a husky, though her tail was long and fluffy rather than curled. She had two orange eyes and around her neck was a leafy green collar. The wolf's voice was beautiful and sweet, even though she had a very thick Slavic accent.
"You have brought a good deal of men here. You seem well prepared now," she commented.
"You have brought a good deal of men here. You seem well prepared now," she commented.
He rose. "Indeed. We Athenians know that preparation is key," he respondes, a note of pride finding its way into his voice. He had expected to be assaulted with "why didn't you"s and "you should have"s concerning his choices when assembling the fleet, but like her tone, the wolf was not harsh, as he had expected. "Many have joined what was not long ago a small group of ships, and now what concerns me is what to do with the men and resources he have."
"As that young Anubite, Nomti, explained, setting up camp here would not be a good idea. She licked her lips in the manner that dogs occasionally do.
"I've heard from Odin's ravens that there is new land... Land that no one has set foot on to our knowledge."
"I've heard from Odin's ravens that there is new land... Land that no one has set foot on to our knowledge."
He nodded. "Yes, he has spoken to me as well about the dangers lurking in the desert. This land that you speak of, is itsuitable for settlement?"
Ornlu nodded, "Yes. It's abundant with game and there's plenty of lumber," she said and scratched one of her ears with a hindpaw, "There are natives there, but much further south and west than we'll probably ever need to go," she commented.
"And what of everything that was destroyed? Our cultures, our cities, our homes? It win't be easy to rebuild. Will this land be large enough for all of us? Is there a way to regain what was lost? Surely there must be some way."
"If your gods stop attacking us and help to defeat Set, and if our gods get off their thrones, then yes, we can regain what is ours. The Egyptian's gods are all imprisoned and or in hiding. Apophis the world eater will be unleashed on the world and if that happens all is lost for what we know. So we can stay here and try to fight, or we can move on and go to the new lands."
He thought for a moment. "We should go to this land you speak of so that the remaining ciilians will be safe to live their lives. Perhaps then our warriors and priests can see what can be done about the gods."
"It's a journey of many months," Ornlu warned, "We could find a place here, maybe southern Afrika where we can be safe from the eyes of Set."
He considered this as well. "That is true. We would risk much, sailing for that long. Disease would spread rapidly on overcrowded ships. What do you think would be the best course of action?"
"That and I don't think Poseidon would let us sail that long," Ornlu commented and looked around, "I suggest we go south. Nomti has told me there are large jungles," she said, "And a big dessert."
"There is good reason behind your proposal. Yes, going south seems to be the best plan. We should leave as soon as possible."
"We should sail as Dara's we can and as close to the shore as possible," Ornlu said, "It will be much faster for as long as the kraken (the Norwegian one) isn't near..."
"W-Wadjets!!!" came a small voice, the fear evident. Nomti came running up, his big ears flat as they could be against his head and a small whimper escaped his lips. He hadn't been lying about his fear of the things.
In the near distance, the silhouettes of hundreds of winged cobra heads could be seen, the bat-like wings flapping like crazy to keep their heads up.
Ornlu let out a snarl as children and women began to scream. All the Egyptian soldiers lined up in rank, spearman in the front, axe men right behind them and the archers and chariots behind them.

(sorry... Te wadjets are flying, right?)
(Nope the wings just keep their heads up)
