"What is this place? What are these...bars?"
Darcel awoke after sleeping for what seemed an eternity. His body felt strange as he collected his thoughts and inspected his "prison". He was surprised to see that everything looked so much bigger than him. Chance would have it that there was a mirror right outside of his prison. As his eyes gazed upon it he finally realized why everything was so big.
"WHAT!!!??? I'M A BIRD... A CROW...I must be dreaming. The last thing I can remember is that intriguing amulet. That couldn't have changed me...could it?"
A familiar voice would speak after laughing for a moment. This voice struck fear into Darcel's heart as it got closer.
"Darcel Sundrian. You were a naughty boy, hehehe. Don't you know what happens to naughty boys?"
Suddenly the voice sounded more horrifying.
"THEY GET EATEN! But don't worry, hehehehehe... I don't liie crow. Not enough meat to fill me up. Especially on one so small as you. You tried to steal from me. Now you will obey me. Or my precious cat will have such a meal to feast on."
Darcel sighed and accepted his fate. Over the next few months he became her "guinea pig" for strange experiments. One such made him start forgetting his past as a human. He knew still that he wasn't happy being a test subject or caged. The same amulet he tried to steal, the witch cast a spell upon so she could communicate with him. After a few more weeks Darcel decided that he would find his chance to escape. He knew that there had to be a good reason he was treated as he was and decided to redeem himsekf anyway he could. One night the witch forgot to lock Darcel's cage. He knew it was time to make his move. Right outside of his cage sat the amulet that got him into this mess. He quietly opened the cage with his beak and stepped out. With his right talon he grabbed the amulet and flew toward an open window. Normally the cat would jump at a chance to catch a bird, but this cat knew it was only fair to ket him go. The cat, too, was once human. He could have escaped, but just didn't feel like it. Instead he decided to be another mouth for the witch to feed. After escaping, Darcel flew to a nearby village to hide. He flew into the attic of the first house he saw.
"I think I'm safe...for now. I hope that witch doesn't find me..."

Abby had been forced to move to a small village, not far from another witch that needed to be watched because she had been accused of turning humans into animals and eating them, which was a sign of insanity in the Witch Clan's book. So, now here was Abby, standing in front of her temporary home until this mess was cleaned up. She set her bags down inside the house as the movers left, not really caring much to put her things in the right place. She sighed, "If you want something done, you have to do it yourself." She then snapped her fingers.
A purple hue began to surround the furniture and boxes, everything was being moved by the purple hue, which was the magic of the witch, better known as Abby's magic. She was one of the few witches that didn't let the power she had go to her head. She always had a kind smile on her face and a gentle sparkle in her strange violet eyes. She had more power than most witches, being a spellcaster with a family history of different witches that were all powerful and talented. They all had the same eyes and angelic personality.
Once everything was in place, she sat down on the couch but not long after she heard a loud noise come from the attic. She went up the stairs, but it took a few minutes to figure out where the entrance was hidden at. She opened the ladder leading to the mysterious attic. She quickly went up them, coughing a bit as dust started to swarm around her from the attic door being opened. She looked over at the crow with am amulet beside it. "Oh, how did you get in here." She said, kneeling down to look at the small crow. It was strange to see such a small crow, they were usually much larger, but she thought nothing of it.

"Drat... I've been found. Please don't take me back to that horrible place. I can't take anymore of that witch's experiments. They hurt."
Since the girl was a witch she could probably undrestand him through the amulet. Otherwise all she would hear would be "caws and squawks" coming from the crow.
"I'm really hungry. Are there any rodents here? I could go for a nice...fat....rat right now. Wait... What am I saying? Something in me tells me that's disgusting. Maybe a nice apple, or some grapes?"
He would flutter his wings wondering if the girl could even understand him.

Abby was a bit surprised to hear the crow speak through the amulet but nodded. "You must have came from the witch that is under trail for a couple months. Rumors have been heard that she changes humans into animals and eats them, which is a sign of insanity." She held out her hand to the crow, while picking up the amulet with the other hand. "I should have some grapes around." She decided not to say anything about the whole thing with the rat.
"I don't recall ever being a human... Though sometimes I feel as if I were once something other than a crow. So you have grapes?"
Darcel fluttered his wings at the thought of food. He would hop to her shoulder and sit. Feeling comfortable around her already, Darcel began to sort of trust her.
"My name is Darcel. Darcel Sundrian. But you can call me Darc. What's your name?"

Abby nodded. "Yeah, I have some. I always had fruit around." She said as he got on her shoulder. She put the amulet in her pocket and stood up. She walked down the ladder and put it back up. "I'm Abby Sanders. I don't really have any nicknames." She said, walking down stairs and into the kitchen. She went to the fridge and pulled out some green grapes. "I have purple ones as well if you prefer the sweeter kind."
Darc hopped down to the counter and pecked at the grape in her hand. He was happy to finally have something to eat. After a few minutes of pecking at the grape he finished it, without even pecking her finger.
"Right now anything is good. That dirty old witch fed me nothing but bugs. Not that they were bad, mind you. But a nice fruit is a good change from the bugs. So I'm guessing since you took my amulet you're going to let me stay here? Keep me safe from the witch? Feed me..... Maybe even let me sleep in a nice warm bed instead of a cage?"
He didn't espect a yes to any of it, but asking was better than just assuming or wondering. He fluttered his wings and walked over to the rest of the grapes to eat another one.

Abby watched as he ate the grape so quickly and was surprised by all the questions he asked. "I'll try and see what I can do for a bed. You can stay here if you like, I have plenty of fruit to feed you. I'm pretty sure you were human once before, so I'll have to figure out how to turn you back. Humans shouldn't be turned into animals." She said as he flew down to eat the rest of the grapes.
A young boy of thirteen years lay nestled in the branch of a tree quite close to the witch's home. He had no clue about the witches so close to him, and was simply enjoying watching the sun sink into the treeline while nibbling at a loaf of bread. Saying that it had come into his hands honestly would not have been entirely truthful. His eyes were just beginning to sink with the sun when a sudden racket made him snap back into awareness.
"It's gone!!" A voice shrieked. "That wretched crow is gone and it took my amulet too!" The owner of the voice was getting closer. Markal stayed as still as he could and hoped they wouldn't see him. "Lazy cat didn't even stop him!" As the witch came into view, Markal tried to make himself small as possible, hoping she would just move on and leave him to find somewhere else sleep. It seemed he would have no such luck however.
"You!" The witch pointed her finger at him, making him jump. He started to feel himself falling and instinctively started to change himself into his tiger form. The witch's finger seemed to be glowing. He landed on all fours, staring up at the witch, who seemed slightly shocked. She shook herself though, and a gleam came into her eyes. "You can find my naughty little bird for me! And my amulet too!" She brought out a black feather and run it under his nose. "Just follow this scent, and bring me back what I desire!" Markal sneezed, confused by what the witch meant but all to ready to leave. He ran off, the witch cackling behind him.

Darc finished about five more grapes before pecking at a flea on his right wing.
"Fleas I can deal with. This is a nice place. What do you mean by "turn me back into a human?" I'm a crow, am I not?"
Darc hopped back on her shoulder and sat down. His talons gripped her shirt so if she walked he wouldn't fall off.
"So what kind of magic do you know? I've always wondered what it would be like to spit fireballs. But a fireball spitting crow sounds a bit farfetched."

"Seeing as I can hear you through this amulet, means that you were once human. Your mind is slowly becoming the same as a crow's one tracked with a short attention span. This spell is strong that she has on you." Abby said when he got on to her shoulder. She went to the living room, searching through the many books on her shelf, most of them were spell books with the covers of different, modern books so that humans wouldn't see the books. "I cast spells, but my family line is a mix of many different witches so I should be able to fix you." She said as she pulled one of the books out, flipping through the pages of different spells.
Markal slowed as he got farther away from the witch. Did she think that she had been the one to change him into a tiger? Well, perhaps it was better that she did. He definitely wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that witch's crazed anger. He found himself getting closer to town. The scent of the crow would have been up in the air, so he wasn't quite sure how she thought he was going to track the bird in the first place. He changed back into his human form and shook his head at the silliness of it all. Still, it would probably be better to sleep indoors than outside while he was here. He went into town, hoping it would have a hotel.
"After everything that witch did to me I'm not sure I would want to be a human. But you're one too and you don't seem so bad. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But what if I was a bad human, if I were one? Maybe this was a punishment..."
All the thoughts seemed to hit him at once. Darc was intrigued by everything that he seemed to forget for a second that he was on her shoulder.
"........ I must apologize... You may want to get something to wipe that off..."
In the midst of his thinking, Darc accidentally left droppings on her shoulder.
