In the island nation of Phantoria it is common practice for youths to leave home and travel the land as adventurers until they settle down in their thirties to raise families. Others continue adventuring for life. Adventuring generally consists of talking to random people and doing annoying chores for them and killing the wildlife before it attacks them. Chores or quests vary from having to collect animal body parts to having to kill some maniacs pet monster that's gone rabid and escaped, usually due to an adventuring fulfilling quests that required them to poison the monster or release it into the wild. Magic is a natural part of the world but magic users are uncommon among the humans of Phantoria. Due to the presence of magic technology has not developed the same was as places outside the island with large cities using methods similar to those of the rest of the world's industrial revolution and those in more remote areas living much like their ancestors from the middle or even stone ages. Some modern inventions have been imported and over time and larger cities have indoor plumbing and electric lights though the switch to florescent light has not reached Phantoria as yet.
Mike stirred up dust as he dug her hands into the warm straw. She dug around in the prickly dry grass as she crouched in the small wooden coop. Her hands found a smooth warm round object in the straw and she lifted it out to examine it. The egg was white with brown speckles. The quest hadn't specified what sort of eggs they need to collect so she didn't give the speckles much thought as she put the egg into her bag with the others she'd already found. The chickens outside were making a racket as a group of teens chased them around the farm swinging swords at them and firing arrows all around. Amid the chaos a knight in full plate armor was waddling around the chicken yard in a crouch picking chicken feathers out of the dirt and muck and stuffing them neatly into an envelope. "Caleb?" Mike called to the knight, "Have you collected enough feathers yet?" The man looked up and gave his friend in the chicken coop a charming mustiso grin. "I have enough for the quest and for us to make some arrows," he called to his partner, "Do you have the eggs?" Mike pulled another three eggs from the nest she'd been digging in and added them to her bag. She counted the eggs slowly and added more straw on top of them to keep them from being crushed before closing her bag again. "He wanted ten, right?" she called back, "We may have a few extra, but if we do we can eat them or sell them." Mike stepped out of the cramp chicken coop and shook her wizard's robe to dislodge the must straw and mud from it. "I don't know why the idiot that lives here can't collect his own eggs from his own chickens if he wants to bake something," the short wizard grumbled. "If he did that we'd have one less quest we could do," Caleb cheerfully told his pal, "Look on the bright side, we get paid so he can be lazy." Mike rolled her eyes at her traveling partner, "Whatever. After we cash in let's head back to the inn and see if there's any good quests open. I'm getting tired of these little jobs. They're getting to be more trouble than they're worth." Caleb put a hand under his helmet and scratched his head. "Most of those big jobs require four or five people to get them done. No one would hire just two people to do a big job," he told her. Mike sighed annoyed by the reminder, "Then we'll have to join a group," she replied tersely as they walked back to the farm house to trade the eggs and feathers in for money.

Enya rode down the road on horse back. Her long black hair flowing behind her ~ i hate riding horses, id much rather travail as a wolf~ thought the young knight. With a sigh she ran her gloved right hand threw her hair. She was dressed in a light armor and a red cap draped over her shoulders ~but then again, I dont know this place.. They may not take to kindly to shape-sifters here~ she thought, her sapphire blue eyes scanned her surroundings. There was a farm near by, she could smell the animals on the air with her keen since of smell ~Wonder if i'm anywhere close to a city~ she thought yawning a little. The young knight had been travailing for a few days both the horse and herself where exhausted " just a but farther girl, then we can rest" she said patting the horses neck.
((I was going to wait and give Cassie a chance to post but I guess she's busy, so it's just you and me for now. There is now a map of Phantoria Island on Mike and Caleb's profile.))
"Thank you for these eggs," the farm owner said, as he always did, when Mike handed him the eggs she'd collected. "Now I can make my cake," the farmer said. Caleb waited until the cake was in the oven before showing the farmer the feathers he'd collected. Mike poked around the farmhouse while Caleb stared at the cake through the oven's open front. "Thank you for these fine feathers," Mike heard the farmer say once the cake was done and he'd once again acknowledged that there were people in his house.
"I can use these feathers to make arrows," the farmer was saying, "Would you like me to show you how to make arrows?" he was asking Caleb. "Say no and see if you can buy any feathers from him," Mike advised as from the other room. "Your reward is 10 coins," the farmer told the knight." In almost the same breath he asked, "Could I interest you in some fine feathers? Good for crafting arrows with." Caleb didn't find the farmer's behavior the least bit odd. The pair had done so many quests for him that his odd way of speaking was starting to sound normal.
"I'll buy twenty feathers," Caleb told the man as he passed him a bag of coins to pay with. The farmer wrapped twenty of the feathers Caleb had just given him in a bit of paper and handed them to him then took the money bag. Mike stepped in front of the man soon after. "I'd like to collect my reward for the cake quest," she told the farmer. "Your reward is fifteen coins," the farmer said as he added a few more coins to the bag Caleb had given him and held it out to Mike. Mike rolled her eyes and took the bag from the man. She counted the coins twice over before signalling to Caleb.
"With my ten coins from collecting feathers and your fifteen from collecting eggs we've just made twenty five coins," Caleb cheerfully told his partner. Mike groaned, "You spent ten coins, remember? We got back what you spent plus five more coins than what we had before we started. This is way we need to take on larger quests." Caleb started to say something but Mike cut him off. "And don't bring up that we need a group to do that because you've said that already and we're going to the inn to see if we can join or start a group." Caleb stared at Mike for a moment or two. "Did you say that already?" Mike sighed and walked out of the house. Caleb naturally followed her as she walked down the dirt path back to the Dog's Noose Inn in eastern end of the lower districts of Faywell Kingdom.

Enya was still sitting by the fireplace, having some what fallen asleep in the warm light. her long black hair had fallen in her face as she dozed, the cup that was in her hands had fallen to the floor but thankfully it was empty. In her sleep Enya seemed to snore softly but not enough to bother any one around her.
"Go sit somewhere and stay out of trouble while I find a job for us," Mike ordered Caleb. The knight shrugged and walked over to the fireplace and pull one of the chairs away from the fire to sit in where he wouldn't be roasted in his armor. Mike looked over the ads on the wall for a group quest. There was one that wanted a dragon killed and might give them a share of the treasure or might not. Another wanted a wizard overthrown, this one Mike passed by as her magic wasn't very strong yet. "Monster Hunters Wanted," the wizard read off another ad, "Ghost Hunters, Vampire Slayers, Join the Zombie Hoard, Wizard in need of assistants, Farmers looking for cows, Stolen horse ...." She took down the ad about the dragon and the monster hunter ad to look over some more as they seemed a little better than the other choices. Caleb got up from his seat to order an ale. On his way back he tripped over Enya's dropped cup and his cup and ale flew up into the air, parting company as they went.
Enya woke up and growled as the ale dumped on her " hey watch where your going" she growled, her eyes lashing wolf like for a moment. " gods now i got to clean this damn drink off my armor!" she said brushing some of the liquid off her thin plated armor.
(( its a speshal type of armor that is able to shift with her so what ever she turns into will have armor ))

"Uh. Sorry about that, Mister," Caleb said sadly as he picked up his now empty cup. It looked like he'd have to buy another drink. "Do you need a towel or something?" he asked Enya, obvious to the fact that she was a 'she'. "Can't you sit still for a single minute," Mike growled as she turned to see Caleb loose his drink. "I-I was thirsty," the knight protested. "Focus," she told him, "we need to find people for one of these jobs," she told him, "Without you throwing booze at them." Caleb pouted, "But I didn't throw it at him, I tripped!"
Enya blinked " if you have not notised im not a He" she said standing up and moved into the light " and i beleave it was my falt.. i fell asleep and dropped my cup" she said calming herself down she gave a soft smile.
"Tell the lady you're sorry and invest in a pair of eye glasses," Mike advised her companion. "Uh, sorry uh, Miss," Caleb said to Enya, "Get her a towel or something and get water next time, it doesn't make as much of a mess," Mike told the male knight. Caleb nodded and went to look for a towel for Enya. "Sorry about that, Caleb isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer," Mike apologized to the woman in armor.
" its alright, things happen" Enya said looking at mike " its my falt for falling asleep with the cup in my hands" she said " i do recall being quite clumsy myself at one point"
"I'm Mike, and you are?" Mike asked thinking she might as well be civil to the woman. "Have you looked at the job postings lately?" the wizard asked Enya while they waited for Caleb to track down a towel. Caleb had found a towel under a stack of plates and was presently moved each plate carefully so he could get the towel without breaking the plates.
" my name is Enya May.. and yes i have looked.. but cant do any of them alone it seems" she sighed " been quite tought since my home was distoryed.. im so far away from the lands i know"
"I was thinking of starting a group, me, Caleb and few other people. I picked a couple ads that said three or four. One's monster hunting and the other wants a group to kill a dragon. I don't know what sort of dragon it is or how much it pays. It's a bit sketchy on that part," Mike explained just as Caleb returned with the towel.
" a dragon?" Enya said " interesting.. may be fun to fight one of them" she said with a smile " count me in, id love to help" she said happily
"I didn't say it would be the dragon thing for sure," Mike told Enya. "We might just take the monster quest. What can you do against a dragon anyway?" she asked the woman in armor. "But it's a dragon, Mike. A drag-on!" Caleb interjected. It was clear which quest he wanted to take.
Enya grinned " well i take it the stores of the shapeshifting half demon knight of Tambridge have not reached this area of the world." she Laughed softly " a dragon is nothing but and over grown demon that id be glad to rid this world of" she said growing serious.
"Wow, really?" Caleb asked, "He sounds fantastic. Do you think he'd join our group?" Mike rolled her eyes at the man's childish behavior. "No, I don't think it has," Mike said. "The ad for the dragon slayers is from Bayford which is nearly on the other side of the island. This is Faywell and Bayford is way over by the bay. The monster hunting ad is from Three Streams which is between here and Bayford. We could take both quests," she said as she pulled out a map of the island and looked it over for the best route to take for either quest.
(map is on profile first page if you haven't seen it.)

" sounds good to me... and what makes you think who i speak of is a he?" she asked with a sly smile. she walked over to look at the map with cureosity.
Caleb didn't catch the woman's meaning, "Why wouldn't he be? He sounds awesome. So do you think he'd join?" he asked Enya like a kid asking if his favorite hero could came to his birthday party. "Maybe we can find a village that needs an idiot while we're traveling," Mike said as she traced a road with her finger. "There's a ford up here across the North river, East of Highpoint. We could follow the cat and milk rivers down to Bayford, which will take a few months at best. Or we could take the Midstream fort a little ways south of here across the South river and head up to Three Streams." There was no 'South river' on the map and Mike was pointing at the lower part of the North river. It stood to reason that the local's names for things would differ a bit from the official names a bit.
" i dont mind how we travil" she said " and dont worry you have the person i speak of in your little group" she smiled, and then yawned " but it seems iv got myself in a bit of a problum here.. I dont have enough money for a room.. it was eather a room or food and i chose food" she said
