Kenzie lied peacefully on the purple and green couch at her house. It reminded her of Monsters Inc. which is why it was her favourite place to rest and read. She'd just woken up from a really long night. Who needed to hear how much of a good time the people next door were having at their party? Certainly not her.
She was still in her pajama pants and Linkin Park shirt, her hair just braided messily, trying to get some minutes more of sleep before she had to go prepare some breakfast. That's when she heard a knock on the door, and covering her face with a cushion, groaned. "Why?"

Nelìs knocked again, slumped against the corner of the door with one hand clutching his shoulder to keep himself from leaking out too much blood. Though he had at least two fractured ribs and a gash underneath his brow, he tried his best to keep his composure.
He was familiar with the place. The house exactly that he had lived in thirty years prior, but he didn't think anyone had inhabited it until he saw a car in the driveway. There were other things he could point out that made the place appear more lively. The wizard had over eighty homes throughout the past and future, but he had particularly chosen this one. The one he hasn't visited for the longest.

This time Kenzie finally got up, barefoot, trying to find the key since she'd locked herself up. "Ah, here it is." Instantly, she got the images of the last person who touched the thing. Herself. She'd gotten used to the flashes and had learned to stop feeling sick everytime it happened.
Reaching the door, she slid the key and opened it. She jumped when she saw a guy sitting there. "Excuse me, why are you-?" She stopped talking when she saw he was injured. "Gosh, what happened to you?"

Before he began to speak he steadied his harsh pants to harsh breaths through his nose, "It's a long s-" he hissed at the sharp pain that constantly stung inside his chest, "story..."
Though he hadn't lifted his head enough to see her yet, he could perceive by her voice that she was a good owner of his past home.

She shifted her weight from one leg to another, considering helping him. To let a stranger come into the house... Decisions, decisions. "Great. You can tell me all about it inside." Her expression softened when she really noticed the pain he was in. "Here, let me help you." She would attempt to put one of his arms over her shoulders to help him stand up.
He saw what she was trying to imply and cautiously brought his arm over her shoulders as he studied her face between the dark hair that hung over his golden eyes, "Thank you.."
She looked to be kind due to her soft features. From what he could see he wouldn't necessarily call her a beauty.. More toward the well-bred side. She looked young, somewhere around twenty.
With a grunt he forced himself up without wanting to weigh her down too much, but he did lean against her a tad. If he could walk decently he would have.

"You're welcome." Kenzie said as she helped him into the house, deciding she'd deal with the trail of blood his wound was leaving, later. She was paying special attention to avoid direct contact with his skin, not interested in knowing who he was, where he lived, how old was he, his secrets and so on, or at least not that way. "I'm Kenzie."
"Nelìs," he breathed as he took a seat at once of her table chairs then paused as a thought came to mind. "There should be a basement here.."
As if something had just clicked he remembered the collection of potions he saved. It was a hobby in case that if anything happened he'd have the home made medicine to aid him. He grinned as there was no one to thank, but himself.

"Nice to meet you Nelis." She started looking around for the first-aid kit when he mentioned a basement. "Why would you want a basement? We do have one but I don't see how it'd help you." The basement was actually now some kind of witch library and her mom just allowed her to go there when she was too. "I know I left the alcohol somewhere around here..." She mused, still looking for it.
He decided he'd wait until later to go down the there, he didn't want any trouble especially since he'd just escaped from it.
Nelìs avoided taking in large breaths. It felt much like a lung was punctured and the pain had been the worst he ever felt. Through most his years he'd been in battle, but magic always shielded him. Pain wasn't new, but bleeding and fractured ribs were something he'd never thought he'd have. Oh, he couldn't have been more wrong.
With his gloved hand he brushed the hair from out of his face, brows furrowed as his movement only brought him more unease.

Kenzie finally found it and carried it to the table next to him. "You don't talk much, do you?" She made a face when she remembered he wasn't up for chatting in that state. "Forget it. I'll see what I can do about this." Reaching to lift the hem of his shirt, she bit back a gasp. There was so much blood. "Are you a criminal?"
"What?" He almost gawked at her, but found himself struggling to breathe again. Speaking was proving to be a nuisance. He decided he wouldn't until he felt comfortable doing so. Instead he shook his head, frustrated in his current position.
"That's a relief." Kenzie touched the area of his ribs as gently as possible. Her knowledge about injuries wasn't vast like her mother's but she was pretty sure his ribs were broken. "I should take you to a hospital. This looks really bad." The gash on his forehead could be treated, though. It was deep but she could handle it.
He gave a vague huff as he looked over to a hallway that he knew the basement was just down there, but he couldn't get to it. Without hurting himself, that is. Nelis lowered his head a bit in defeat. There was no other way than to go to a hospital thought he hated them. Not all doctors were precise with their job.
Trying to hide the disappointment on his face, he nodded.

"Okay." She proceeded to clean the wound on his forehead, brushing some of his hair back as she dabbed the cut with some alcohol. Kenzie worked as quickly as she could, considering that the presence of a stranger in her house unsettled her more than just a bit. When she was done, she put everything away and looked down at her clothes. "I will go upstairs to put something decent on. Be right back." She wasn't worried about him stealing something. The guy could barely walk, for crying out loud!
... Well now that she wasn't there currently, he found an opportunity to make an attempt to the basement. The pain wouldn't last that long.
Cautiously, he slid from the chair, face twisted at the aches in his chest, but he began towards the hall, using anything for support. It was a bit slow paced, but as he reached the hall it'd speed up from there. He paced over to the end of it, avoiding making any noises that would catch her ear.
Nelìs let out a trembled breath when he finally reached the door of the basement. The stairs were a major hold up, but he couldn't let that get in his way. Each step pained him greatly and when he got to the last one he stumbled to the ground. He barked at the sudden wave of pain and stood still waiting for it to pass. After, a few seconds he reached up to turn on the light then his eyes widened. He'd seen many studies and he knew exactly what this study was. Witchcraft.

It took Kenzie a while because her room was a mess. She found a coat under her bed and smelled it. "This one's clean, how did it end up here?" Shrugging, she put it on and went downstairs again. He wasn't there anymore. He couldn't have gone too far. She thought, looking for him in the living room and the kitchen, but then looked down and saw dirt on the floor, footprints. Following them, she went down to the basement, not before grabbing her baseball bat. "What are you doing hers?"
The look he gave her couldn't have been more skeptical, "Of all powers you choose to use.. a bat?"
His eyes scanned through the room and he saw nothing that was his. He didn't like the thought of it being simply thrown away, he worked too hard on them for that. His gaze fixed onto the woman again and he spoke, careful not to agonize himself in the process, "Where is everything that was in here before??"

"Hey, it's a good one." She lowered it, watching him examine the place. It was as if he'd been expecting something else. Well, surely. Normal basements didn't have books lying around covered in runes and other stuff. Kenzie frowned, considering it odd he knew it hadn't always been like this. "That is none of your business." She hadn't meant it to sound so harsh, but she was getting a little more scared.
The wizard huffed as he took a few steady breaths before he spoke again, "Maybe you haven't heard of me.. I lived here at least fort-.. I lived here before you did. I left some things here for a reason." He wouldn't even waste his energy being angry, it was only natural for someone to respond the way she did so he really had no one to blame.
