Howdy!
After a long hiatus from role playing, I have decided to jump back into writing. I've been reading a lot of dark fantasy stuff recently (a lot of warhammer 40k, amongst other things) and would love to create stories in a similarly dark and bleak world.
I've no real preference for setting- fantasy or sci-fi works just fine for me, though I do generally shy away from modern settings. I like fantasy, big set peices, larger-than-life characters and stories.
As far as the "dark" part goes, I'm really a "darker the better" kinda person. I do love grimdark stories- stories where everything and anything could and would kill you, where what's thought to be only the bleakest of tales comes to life and threats to human life are the norm.
If you've got any ideas or would like to come up with something, feel free to reply here or just toss me a dm!

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Modern
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Romance is desired but not required, and will balance evenly with other plot.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
Hey, I'm interested in this! I have an old dark fantasy thread that I made here a while back that never picked up steam, so we could see if you like that

Heya!
Sure thing. Just dm me a link to it so I can have a look.
heyo! so this is a new character of mine, his name is Oliver south. He's a luckling ( just a moment I'll explain.) abjuration ( ill explain) mage.
so onto explanations: number 1, lucklings. They are creatures of my own creation. Normally they are either born with green hair and eyes, or black hair and eyes. If green they are really lucky and can spread good luck. If black they are unlucky and can spread bad luck. Oliver is a strange mix of the two. His eyes are both a mix of green and black. And his hair is mostly black with several strands being green. He has bad luck and spreads good luck. So everyone around him is lucky, while he's tripping over his own feet half the time.
Number 2: abjuration mage. Basically he can conjure shields and wards and forcefields. Lots of protectance.
ok so here's how he could work in a dark setting: one, comic relief. I mean he was literally made to do it. He is the most unlucky person in the world.
two, he could still be out for vengeance on the people who burnt down his home and be VERY dark and be able to use his luckling abilities and magic to kill and murder and plunder anyone he thinks might be a culprit.
sorry for the wall of words.

Seems interesting! Comic relief is important in these kinds of settings after all. Flick me a dm so we can get started!

It would be nice to do some RP in the 40k Universe and I can fit Anastasia in any RP you might like to play.
