I've pet a baby dear, does that count?

African wild dog
POLARRRR BEEAAARRRRR
I'd like to say all of them.
If that's not acceptable... Then I suppose a bat. Preferably a flying fox or something similar, but any bat is acceptable. Sweet little sky puppies get such a bad reputation from so many myths when they're so important, so sweet, and so cute.
They're actually pretty closely related to primates, and they're very valuable pollinators. I still hope to eventually go help out at a bat rescue, help get some of these lovelies rehabilitated so they can be released back into the wild.
One thing I've been told to keep in mind, though, is that as soft and fluffy is a lot of animals make look, they're usually very greasy to touch. They aren't constantly bathing with soap like us humans, so the oils build up in their fur. I've been told deer can feel particularly gross, but I imagine they don't really stand out so much when properly compared.

I've done that! In Florida at Discovery Cove. Their skin feels like rubber.
A blue whale (the largest living creature on earth and the largest creature ever to have lived on the planet). Or, in lieu of a blue whale, a gorgeous humpback whale.

Hands down a wolf!
They've been my fave. wild animal as long as I can remember. Such gorgeous, majestic, loyal, fierce, musical animals. I think they are also why I love werewolves and lycans more than vamps. Vamps are still cool, but the wolves and such come out on top for me.

I've always wanted to pet a chinchilla. They look so freakin' fluffy!!!
Fun Fact: chinchillas bathe in dust to keep their fur soft and free of mold

I've been there too! I loved it and would 100% go back every summer if I could
