Hotaru smiles teasingly at Dmitri. "Are you sure you didn't make that up?"
"Why make up a story that can be so easily confirmed or disproven?" Velan asked Hotaru with a chuckle. "Fighting a dragon isn't something one can do covertly. It's an event that's bound to have witnesses." Thalia listened to the conversation with one ear as she kept her eyes on the road.
Some dozens of feet ahead, the foliage rustled, and a furry tail waved into sight for a moment. The Paladin stiffened, but as they approached that point in the road, whatever was in hiding scampered off, frightened by the sound of so many hoofbeats and voices.

Dmitri growled a bit, "I am Khajiit, but I am not a liar," he said, "I would not make such a thing up. People died under my command. I was charged with leading those guards and bringing them back. Do you know how many sons, daughter, wives, fathers and mothers I went to to personally apologize?"
Hotaru jumps slightly, startled by his tone. "I apologize Dmitri... Please, forgive me." Hotaru looks off into the distance, feeling guilty.
"It is alright, comrade... You are forgiven," he sighed and placed one of his hands gently on hers, "Racial stereotypes like that bother me, even if it wasn't supposed to be a racist comment. We khajiit are often called liars and thieves, and don't get me wrong, there are many of us who's chosen profession is that dishonorable, but there are also those of us who are not quite that bad, myself for instance."
" understand. I never meant to offend you."Hotaru smiles half heartedly and moves her hand under the pretense of moving her hair back. Hotaru scans her surroundings.
The Elf glanced around with a curious eye. He had only arrived at this town last night so he knew little of the area. He looked around the ashen streets as they rode, shaking his hair to rid itself of ash but he knew it would continue to sprinkle down upon them.
He glanced back at everyone for no particular reason, already feeling tiresome of this quiet walk. He began to fiddle with the sheath on his thigh.

Hotaru watches the ashes fall. Or At least she was pretending to. Hotaru uses the excuse of watching the falling ash to steal a peak into the haze, to make sure her brother was still there. As much as she disliked him, she also didn't want anything to happen to him. Turning her attention to Leith, she smiles kindly, cheeks still slightly pink with embarrassment from Dmitri's harsh tone and scolding.
Dmitri gently squeezed Kotaru's hand, "I'm sorry for yelling. Will you forgive me?"
Hotaru smiles. "Yes of course. It was my fault..." Blushes and looks down.
He removed his helmet and coughed a bit as he got his first breath full of ash then touched his nose to Kotaru's cheek as a sign of affection then he set the helmet on he head. He would feel a comfortable warmth as the inside Changed to fit her head and the air she was breathing suddenly became clean and despite the darkness covering the exposed parts of her face from the outside, it would look like she wasn't wearing a helmet at all from her point of view.
Hotaru's eyes widen in surprise as Dmitri's helmet slips over her head. Suddenly, she no longer has to struggle to breath. The air was clear, and she no longer had to fight to breath. "Dmitri, no. You need your helmet. I'll be fine."
Keith glanced back and chuckled at the two,"I have to admit, you both make a lovely couple."he teased and smiled to the both of them for a moment before he looked forward, his hands lazily running through his horses soft mane.
Hotaru scowls, and tosses a twig at Leith's head. "Hey, none of that sulking. You were supposed to travel with me to, but you're way up there." Hotaru pouts playfully. "Dmitri, I really don't need this", She mumbles.
"Pfft, I've had the helmet on for too log. You could probably use some fresh air. Keep it on," he said an then blushed bright red at Leith's comment but said nothing. He just put one arm around Kotaru's bare belt and kept the other on the horse's reigns.
"Wait, sonce when was he supposed to travel with you?"
"Wait, sonce when was he supposed to travel with you?"
Leith laughed softly and began to slow his horse until he was riding besides her,"I apologize madam, where were my manners?"he smiled crookedly, though it could be seen by the cloth covering his lips and glanced to Dmitri before he looked back to the neko.
Hotaru decides to give up fussing with Dmitri and accept the helmet. "Thank you Dmitri," she said sincerely. "And I asked both of you to travel with me. My brother really hates you two," She says, flashing a radiant smile. "I'm sure he's contemplating snatching me off of this horse, and running off with me."
Leith laughed beneath his mask, his eyes bright with amusement,"Yes, well that just might happen. Although I can't wait to find out which of us it will be."he winked to Hatoru, glancing forward quickly to make sure he wasn't moving out of the line.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see." Hotaru frowns, and looks at Dmitri. Using her claws, she cuts some of her cloak, and folding it neatly in half, ties it around Dmitri's nose and mouth. "There. That should help," The cat says with a smile.
As they left behind the fences and buildings of the town proper, the road became a little more lonely. Large drifts of ash crisscrossed the road where only travelers' footprints were there to sweep it aside (as opposed to the town, which had guards to do so). Velan watched the group with a soft smile.
"I dunno, Thalia," He commented quietly. "I don't think this lot will be so bad." The Paladin didn't respond, and kept her eyes on the road. The Ranger sighed and rested his chin on his hand.
