"I don't really drift. I have responsibilities to Anubis."
"And these responsibilities are...?" Hotaru prompted, genuinely curious.
"Assisting the Anubites in embalming, helping to protect the temples, generally serving the duties of a godly embodiment."
"No, I just come here when I have free time, "It's close enough to the pyramids that it doesn't really matter. It's a popular spot among us priestesses and the Anubites.
"yup," she sighed and walked towards the water, removing all of her garments and then slipping into the cool water
Hotaru continues to talk, un bothered by the nudity. "What's it like being a priestess? Is it similar to being a daughter of Anubis?"
"They're technically the same. He doesn't have children like you. We are his children, creations of his mind and his soul and his blood, with a pinch of water from the Nile," she giggled, "It's usually pretty boring. We have a temple in the city where the sick and injured come to be healed. It's our primary function."
"We're immortal, duh," she giggled, "And even then, we're healers. We can heal each other if there was a sickness among us."
Hotaru smiles. Standing, she rolls and cartwheels through the sand. "My lifes purpose is to simply live. Forever and ever, always young."
"You're lucky," she said with a small smile, "We age, but only 1 year for every ten we live and we stop aging at 300, then we live to about a thousand before we are reincarnated again."
Hotaru stops and shrugs. "My life, however, holds no significant purpose" She explains. "Aside from evading the advances of gods, and occasionally goddesses, or being a messenger for my mother, I simply exist."
"Okay, maybe you're not so lucky..." she said with a slight frown.
"At least you're always young," she offered up and floated into her back.
Hotaru grins. "Yes! I'm always young and quick, and flexible, and care free!" She laughs wildly, suddenly excited. She yelps in joy, twisting, spiraling, and twirling threw the air, stripping off her garments as she went. She jumps in to the water, and swims up to the surface. "Its really fun," she says, grinning. Slowly, her smile fades. " But its also hard... I never grow older. I watch my friends shrivel away and die, while I am eternal... Its gotten to the point where I'm downright hostile to mundanes, not wanting to get close, only to get crushed." She shrugs. "The life time of a mortal is a week in the unlimited time of an Immortal." Shaking her head, she looks at Eshe, and forces a smile. "But at least now I have you." She adds, attempting to lighten the mood.
"Sure, if you wanna stay with me!" Eshe wagged her wet tail happily, "Of course it's only about 850 more years until I die and am reincarnated with a new personality."
Hotaru groans. "Hopefully you'll be reincarnated as a mute." She grins playfully, splashing the priestess with water before diving under.
