"She does not wish to see you," the one on the right answered and lifted his spear then brought it down, creating a shockwave that knocked Kotaru away a few feet.

Hotaru lands on her feet. By now, she was beyond angry. Closing her eyes, she prayed to her mother for a favor. "Mother," she said. "Please... I ask a favor from you. Ask Anubis to parten my transgressions. Ask him to let me enter his temple. Please..." Her voice cracks, and she takes a deep breath before continuing. "Please mother. I am tired of being lonely. I finally have a friend. Please mother... " A single tear streaks down her face as she finishes the prayer, and for the first time in many millennia, Hotaru cried.

"It is not the bidding of Anubis," the statue said, "Bit that of Eshe. She does not wish to see you."

Hotaru's eyes widen. "But why?," she yelps, shocked and betrayed, as tears trail down her cheeks. "What have I done?," She demanded.

"You have betrayed her innocence and you have made her vulnerable," the other statue said, "She was happy with her innocence and you took it from her."
Suddenly, the priestess was between the two giant statues, "Ujat, Stit, let her alone," she said quietly, "What do you want?"

"Eshe! Please, listen to me. I hadn't meant to betray you. I thought you knew, honestly!," The cat hurries to explain.

"No! Obviously I didn't and you should have realized that when you told me! Do you not understand basic body language?!"

"I haven't seen another human being in more than a hundred years! Excuse me if I have forgotten my social graces!" Hotaru replies angrily.

"Really?" Eshe asked sarcastically, "There's cities all over the world and the desert isn't nearly that big enough. It's total bull that you haven't seen another sentient thing."

Hotaru snarls. "I avoid mundanes on PURPOSE! Nothing good comes from them. I didn't tell you to strip and hop in! You did that on your own."

"Yes but you kept on talking about the Gods watching! Did you not think that you should stop after I started getting so embarrassed like that? Obviously not because you just went on and on!"

At that point, Hotaru snarled, throwing her hands up. "IM SORRY!"

"Good... I'll see you tomorrow," she said And climbed up onto the shoulder of the statue on the right and leaned against his metal head.

Hotaru blinks. "So... I'm forgiven?"

"Yes," Eshe called down, "I'll meet you at the same oasis."

Hotaru grins. "Okay then. Ills see you there." She turns to leave."

Eshe doesn't stop her and just leans into the Anubis statue's neck.
